I interpret the email as 505 gradually wresting control over the IP, especially with the lines of "if we can find some compromise on some of the most ethically challenging themes".
I didn't interpret it as a power grab. It's simply true that the game has some stuff in it that could turn into a social media firestorm once normies get wind of it.

Sure, the bullying might be a little over the top. You don't want anything edging into sociopathy in your game unless you're Naughty Dog.

But the video game industry is tiny and people talk. If anyone at tinyBuild was talking to anyone at 505 they would know right out of the gate that Alex is a toxic asset. One with a potentially lucrative IP, but they gotta throw off the dead weight. It's just business.

Tbh I don't really care about what we got or could have got from him. I come for the laughs and I am quite entertained with the attack at his subreddit since his fans and mods are more vocal and thus more amusing.
It also prompted Alex and his mods to make a new subreddit called /r/Yanderesimulatornew. They apparently didn't learn anything from this because the thing that the /r/Yandere_Simulator subreddit was consistently criticised for - its censorship - they doubled down on and set the new one to private. You need to message them directly to even be allowed in.

Meanwhile some of the /r/Yandere_Simulator community moved to /r/Osana.

The hack had a knock-on effect in the reddit community, if nothing else.

Seems like most of the community indeed went to r/Osana, and with the heavy censoring the new official subreddit will probably be a joke. The thought of Alex stealing artwork from the posts in r/Osana from now on amuses me.

So...I guess back to the other subreddit that Alex didn't buy that nobody really uses?
Lol shit, he posted that 15 minutes ago

inb4 he tries to buy /r/Osana eventually because nobody wants to use his old subreddit and doesn't like that people have free speech to talk smack about him on there. And the cycle of Alex buying subreddits repeats itself.

With that being said, since his e-mail account was hacked, here's the ones I'm most curious about, and would appreciate if someone can post them, since as I said before, there should've been more content out from this fiasco:

1. The interactions between him and TheRightOpinion
2. Further e-mails between him and the TinyBuild employee. I highly doubt that contract termination is the only one.
3. Interactions between him and Vordrak, if there are any
4. Interactions between him and MikeZ, if there are any, I'm curious if Alex still sends any e-mails to him or vice versa especially after the old incident
5. Interactions between him and Toby Fox, if there are any, because of the Undertale easter eggs
Hey,I'm all for fucking with Yandere Dev, but lets maybe not accidently dox an inno here, TRO already had a dox scare lmao
Also, waiting 20 years for a game to come out ? That's some serious lack of knowledge regarding the video game industry.
Dwarf Fortress my friend.

Atleast that dude actually gives a shit about his game.

Quick edit: I am dumb. Please point and laugh.

He doesn't even own the copyright to Yandere Simulator
Is Yandere Simulator even copyrighted?

Keyword search of the US Copyright Office public records. This is in alphabetical order, and I used the keyword "video game" for this one. Searching for the game's title comes up with nothing either. Using Yandere as a keyword came up with nothing for Yandere Simulator, the game doesn't come up if you search for copyrights by Alex Mahan, Yanderedev, or EvaXephon either. In US copyright law this doesn't mean he couldn't take someone to court and win if they came out with a game called Yandere Simulator, rather it means he'd actually have to pay a lawyer and go to court to provide evidence. With a copyright on the project he'd be skipping a lot of the process as that is the first place they'd check to see if someone stole his intellectual property.

For posterity in case he ever does get a copy right I just want it known that he didn't have one now

Even did an advance search with a wide criteria to see if those worked:

Well, I guess this new YanSim clone must be doing something right if they're getting that kind of response already.
Probably the fact it doesn’t run like shit, it’s being developed quickly, looks pretty good, isn’t created by a retard, etc. I‘ve never been interested in games like this but I guess it’s good that people who actually wanted Yandere Simulator will get an alternative that isn’t hot garbage.

So many have said that about the other "YS but better" games and everytime they never get finished and are abandoned.

You literally have this the completely wrong way around.

Don't fuck with lolcows, and who cares about doxing a public figure like that. The only reason no-one doxes TRO here is that he's not a lolcow. Just a guy who makes boring summaries of internet shit - who almost definitely uses this site as a source, though I don't think I've ever seen him credit us.

Technically any original work is under copyright protection the moment it's created and provided on a public medium. It's not like a patent or trademark where you need to pay money for a legal entity to recognize it. That said, the phrase "any original work is under copyright protection" swings both ways in that the original elements of a fan work are also protected by copyright. The only time you need to actually register for it is if you plan to push a lawsuit for it, and you want to skip some of the red tape as mentioned before.

It isn't better than nothing. Lolcows should be left alone to produce content on their own. Provoking the cows is stupid and doing it ( and breaking the law by doing so) in order to achieve so little is even stupidier.

Not trying to derail the thread during a time of rapid discovery here, but while to a large extent I agree that it's preferable when you have someone like Russ Greer who freely offers content with no prodding, keep in mind that for the most part it's literally impossible to not provoke lolcows at all since about 90% have at least some tangential awareness that KF has threads on them, and much like in the double slit experiment the act of simply observing a lolcow changes their pattern of behavior. We dox here, we observe and record correspondence between them and their associates, we dig up embarrassing past secrets, the site is very well SEO optimized to ensure the highest possible chance that when someone looks up a name KF comes up, we publicly share all this information and if they see any of the above it's going to affect a lolcow and the sort of content they produce; like it or not we're playing a direct role in these people's lives the second a thread gets posted, and that's as true for YanDev as for anyone.

Unfortunately there's really no well defined line between healthy interest and autistic trolling; as with everything it's up to mature discretion, and in this case while I'd certainly not engage in anything like this myself I'm still happy to have the info provided, but that's purely my personal stance and you aren't necessarily wrong if you see that as hypocritical.

Anyone interested in a video of a living room scene in yandere sim? Yander chan talks to musume, after killing her debt collector. She can confince her to not go after senpai (maybe musume is just a place holder for Osana?) or kill her. Its a fully voiced cutscene.
Im not sure if this is already public knowledge though. Hence, Im asking.

You lose nothing by posting it, so might as well.

Not exactly. Almost everyone will tell you to get the copyright done as soon as possible. For a case like Alex I think it would be a fee to make an account (which I forget if it gets reimbursed) and then a 30-50 dollar fee to register the copyright. The earlier you have one the better, as it also shows that you actually cared about your intellectual property to start, and aren't just being greedy/unprepared.

Given how the process works I would've suggested he get the copyright filed years ago, and not just put it off until its necessary. They can take up to five months to get finalized.
