We've got people pushing for Salem to be dismantled, we've got people pushing against him being dismantled because we should respect Zack's desire to protect Salem, and we've got Salem trying to deflect by saying he didn't know Nairo's age and thought Zack was lying.
Fast facts - Salem was 22 at the time of this exchange (so 7 years older than Zack and 2 older than Nairo), engaged in a very sexually charged conversation with Zack regardless of whether he believed Zack or not, and actively urged a 15 year old Zack to aggressively pursue a 20 year old.
Even if we choose to believe Salem when he says he thought Nairo was also a minor, he knew Zack was a minor and he knew his own damn age, but still chose to engage and urge a minor with sexual conversations on. Even if we choose to believe he thought Nairo was also a minor, then the only thing that changes is that now he's essentially getting off on the thought of two minors fucking, which as we all know is much more ethical.
Instead of refusing to discuss that with him, or go to someone with authority about the illicit relationship, he pushed for it. He could've potentially helped prevent the Ally situation. What Zack needed was therapy to help deal with his, frankly unhealthily aggressive pursuit of adult men and subsequent blackmailing of them.
People arguing for not even criticizing Salem because "If Zack had wanted to expose him he would've, we should trust Zack's judgement since he was the victim not us!" seem to either not realize or not care that Salem's behavior was just as predatory and that we have no idea how many minors he spoke to like this or whether he is continuing to do so. Seems to me that keeping a creep around who pushes kids into sex discussions would be a danger to the community, but I guess Zack is more of an expert on groomers than I am.
There would be a certain je ne sais quois to it if Zack's best creeper friend's life got destroyed as well, despite Zack's attempt at protecting Salem.
