Lived through DC over the weekend. It seemed fairly lit from the ground but no serious trouble or rioting. Just BLM and Antifa (henceforth "liberals") yelling at Bikers for Trump and Proud Boys (henceforth "conservatives"). Cops kept everyone apart pretty well. 4 arrests on the liberal side, none on the conservatives.

Highlights:
Some flags got burned by liberals while conservatives drank beer and watched airplanes fly over.
BLM and PB's marches crossed TOTALLY on accident (both appeared to be lead by the police, both had escorts at least). Lots of chanting and middle fingers. Surprisingly nothing thrown and no fighting.
Some Conservatives showed up in the national mall and a minor scuffle broke out around the middle of the fireworks. Broken up by police. An open White Claw and a bottle of water were also thrown by the liberals, in addition to fists.
Police blocked off a few blocks around where the conservatives were staying (Harry's bar at the Hotel Harrington) around 8 or 9. Forced the bar closed by threatening their liquor license around 10:30. Basically told all holdouts that they were free to stay, but if they did the cops would find a reason to arrest them.
Conservatives dispersed fairly quickly. Liberals kept a small presence (10-20) for the next hour or two on the nearby corner. After they left, police left besides patrol cars.

I've been told the conservatives were forced to shut down because a very large liberal mob was forming several blocks away, but I've seen zero evidence of it.

The Oregon State Police denied that a trooper flashed a racist hand gesture during a Black Lives Matter protest at the Capitol in Salem on Saturday.
The move comes after a viral video showed an OSP trooper making the “OK” hand signal — touching the thumb and index finger to make a circle, with the remaining three fingers pointing outward — toward a counter-protester.

In recent years, the symbol has been appropriated to signal “white power.” The Anti-Defamation League, a Jewish civil rights organization, added the “Okay” symbol to its “Hate on Display” database last fall, associating the symbol with white supremacy and the far right.
The Clypian reported the video began circulating Saturday afternoon in Salem community organizing groups and on Twitter. It has since garnered national attention.
Following a review of the trooper’s body camera footage, OSP refuted that the trooper made the signal that “some could interpret as racist or sympathizing with racist ideology.” In the footage, a man wearing a “Black Bikes Matter” shirt seen chanting “All Lives Matter” is knocked to the ground by a protester. The man then stands up and has an interaction with OSP troopers, saying that he’s fine.
Police said the trooper “was simply checking on the man’s status,” asking if the man was unharmed while displaying the hand signal commonly associated with “okay.”

While the symbol’s alternate meaning has its roots as an online hoax, white nationalists have increasingly begun using it to signal their presence, due to its being “a gesture so widely used that virtually anyone has plausible deniability built into their use of it in the first place,” according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Police said that the best available evidence shows the man pushed down was the victim of a crime. The man who allegedly pushed him, Christopher Davis, 50, of Salem was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and harassment.
“OSP condemns all racist behaviors and does not allow white supremacist behaviors by our officers and staff. … The OSP Trooper identified in the video did not engage in any white supremacy behavior, implicitly or explicitly,” the statement read.
“We appreciate that the public would be concerned and rightfully outraged if an OSP trooper were to flash an offensive gesture. We would share in that outrage and concern. In this instance, we would ask the public await the complete information before condemning a trooper with an irreparable and harmful label.”

Minor update on my Former(?) Employer. After my initial blast the big boss responded back genuinely confused as to why I was so absolutely dead set against a plan to institute a diversity committee to reduce stress for racial and sexual minorities. So i responded back just why I was deeply concerned about introducing "critical race theory" into the company.

Apparently there was going to be a meeting with the Owner and Managers to discuss implementing the ideas. No word on what happened at that meeting but I am still not kicked out of the group App, and the latest announcement was just about the plans for restarting business. Suddenly the company is no longer concerned about diversity boards and such.

I think I won. Not sure how I feel about that tbqh. It seems like it should have been harder somehow.
