There is, and it's direct action. Dox is public info, their correspondence is public info, and everything they post is public info. It's not wrong to search for a person's public info any more than it is wrong to look anything up online, but actively hacking someone to get correspondence and info or talking with them directly for a specific result is the line.

It's the line for a reason, because people aren't as funny as they think they are, and you generally get more content if you don't cross that line. This forum emerged from a group of people who crossed that line so far the person in question has a documentary that is tens of hours long going over how far they fucked with them, the whole non-interference thing comes from a place of experience. This whole thing was a perfect example, we got the comments of the code, which are uninteresting, we got some emails talking about a deal with 505 which we would have learned about in time, that he fucked over tinybuild, which we basically knew already, and a gay 'raid' on the subreddit. All in exchange for Alex actually getting a legitimate reason to feel victimised that he's now going to harp on until the end of time.

Non-interference gave us Hate and Shame, interference gave Alex an excuse.

Keyword search of the US Copyright Office public records. This is in alphabetical order, and I used the keyword "video game" for this one. Searching for the game's title comes up with nothing either. Using Yandere as a keyword came up with nothing for Yandere Simulator, the game doesn't come up if you search for copyrights by Alex Mahan, Yanderedev, or EvaXephon either. In US copyright law this doesn't mean he couldn't take someone to court and win if they came out with a game called Yandere Simulator, rather it means he'd actually have to pay a lawyer and go to court to provide evidence. With a copyright on the project he'd be skipping a lot of the process as that is the first place they'd check to see if someone stole his intellectual property.

Copyright is a little bit complicated.
The biggest issue the clone has is its using Unity store assets that it may or may not have bought and using assets that are owned BY Yanderedev (even if they were made by volunteers, his e-mails between the volunteers could be used in court as proof of ownership)
He has little to no power over the concept or core gameplay. If they got all custom assets, Yanderedev can do nothing.
Also, everything is "technically" automatically copyrighted upon creation. Larger companies register copyright just to have better legal standing over their IPs, but if I draw a shitty mspaint doodle, I automatically own the copyright for that.

For anyone curious about the subreddit, according to a post on r/Osana the subreddit has been abandoned and they're transitioning to r/Yandere_Sim_fanclub where permission is now needed to even start posting. It's also mentioned that r/yanderesimulator is still a thing though it's not particularly active and thus likely escaped notice when r/yandere_simulator was set aflame during the account hijacking.

What content? For the last couple of months we talked about same shit over and over again. Even from something as autistic as this hack, we got his source code, some of his mail and another evidence of him being a dollfucker.

Read them more carefully. He renegotiated his contract to not have to pay it back (by threatening them with a scorched-earth social media campaign)
It worked, they signed the new papers, and the matter is closed.

Hm, does that mean that they can't talk about him in private conversation? Because I don't see reason why 505 couldn't reach them before contacting Alex. This is usually what employers do before hiring you.

By the looks of it you did the searching with "Alex Mahan". I'm really just wondering if you really didn't think of reading the title of this thread and maybe use his entire name? His name is Alexander Stuart Mahan, not Alex Mahan, so I would suppose that that could be an important difference to take into account...

The way I interpreted it, "cannotgoogleme" wasn't the pseudonym itself it was referring to when he made it, but that the account couldn't be easily traced back to his main name through Google because it's an entirely new one with no history to it. His attempt at ironic humour, I suppose. "Hee hee you can't google me I'm someone else who is a nobody!"

Shame that he's about as subtle as a brick when posting about his fetishes and interests, so it was easy to connect the dots and soon enough the ironic joke became the butt of the joke.
