I have a hard time taking them seriously when they have kitchen towels on their belts. They look like they could be ISIS housewives.
We’ve all seen people who act like covid isn’t a big deal, or just don’t care about wearing masks or social distancing. But has anyone else experienced people on the opposite spectrum, the overly paranoid?

I only leave the house once a week for groceries. I don’t go out or socialize. I haven’t seen my boyfriend in almost 4 months. So I went to see him ay his house. Boy howdy. I have a parent who called me and furiously ranted about how stupid and inconsiderate I was. They seriously act like merely stepping outside my house will get me the coof, and I guaranteed have it now. They think they WILL die if they get it (they’re boomer aged and overweight but don’t have any serious chronic illness that would make it worse). None of this ranting is because they’re worried about ME. They literally talk like I’m signing THEIR death warrant by going out and THEY are being put at risk. Now I have to live in the garage for two weeks and and pee in a bucket because I have to be quarantined. It’s almost funny. Same person who cusses out random people for not wearing masks in public. Anyone else know anyone like that?

I got one a month or so ago. Negative, of course. I would also describe it as deep throating my nose. The place I got it had a box of tissues on hand because even adult men tear up from it. But at least it’s quick.
My dad is like that. He is terrified of getting it. He is in his 70s, so he does have a right to be scared of it. But most of it has to do with his hatred of Trump. I don't like Trump, but my dad really does have TDS. Which is weird, because he used to complain about Feminazis years ago and now he's shifted to Trump is going to kill us all. I legit think there might be something wrong with his brain, though, because he's got some other things going on that doctors can't figure out. But, people that never look at Trump critically are equally stupid. My aunt refuses to wear a mask simply because Trump says you don't need one. It irritates me that people are making health decisions based on political party.

My mom has COPD so she will probably die if she gets it. She wears a mask and takes precautions but she says she's just accepted that if it is her time, it is her time. I wonder if the difference between the two is that my dad is an atheist and my mom isn't. He seems way more panicked about dying than she does.

It was painful but the pain was that pain you get when you get water up your nose at the pool. It stopped hurting pretty quickly after I was done and I'd do it again if there was a good reason.

I should hear back on results sometime next week. I'm not expecting much, but if I test negative, I'll be able to go back to the gym a little sooner, and if I test positive, I can donate blood once I'm better.
Is it like getting the flu swab or worse than that?
Ignoring all the other draconian insanity, there's literally no way that can work in any school on the planet. My high school was so crowded I had to literally shove my way to class if the distance was far enough, and this was in a well-funded upper-middle-class suburb.
My kid's school is planning to have 1 week in class / 1 week online rotation so they can cut down the number of students physically in the school. No idea what they'll do with sports/chorus/band.

They can't explain why they think these protests are okay?

Fear. It's fear of the consequences they'd face for not being on the right side of history. Fear that even a limp dick statement like "m-maybe going out and protesting will spread the coof guys" will LITERALLY be the same as saying you want black people to be murdered. Fear of the angry mob in general. All of these institutions aiding and abetting this are afraid of what'll happen if they don't give concessions to the protestors. They can't make this go away like they can with angry right wingers because they've thrown their lot in with people like this.

And why would they care? Lockdowns were winding down when George Floyd died. Now they can point at increasing case numbers and go TOLD YOU SO, REOPENINGS BAD. They want to have their cake and eat it too. But instead, now every political side has a reason to be angry at the government and law enforcement and think they're full of shit (at least in theory, since the defund the police groups want the police the second something goes bad for them). So maybe playing politics with everything going on in the hopes it'll social engineer our way to President Biden was a god damn retarded idea.
This is why people aren't listening to the "experts" anymore. If large gatherings are risky because of covid, the reason for the gathering does not matter. There is no virus on earth that is sentient and chooses its targets ethically. Quite frankly, I have much less trust in the medical field and "experts" in general because they lack the courage to be honest. If you can't be trusted to tell people unpopular things, you can't be trusted at all. If they worry about the mob opinion, they probably also worry about the opinions of leaders or others who might control the purse strings that make their work possible. Science is supposed to be objective.

This is unmitigated insanity. Science has been thoroughly politicized and this is exactly why epidemiologists can no longer be trusted, and precisely why I no longer give the smallest amount of a shit about these lockdowns. If they make even the smallest effort to lock things down and tell me to stay inside after this, I'm not listening, I'm not doing it, they can suck my entire ass.
>"anti-lockdown protests were rooted in white nationalism"

How dumb and gullible do these profligates think we are?

My parents are in their 60s, so they have age to worry about when catching covid. As for chronic health promblems, they aren't immunocompromised but my dad has high blood pressure and mom has pre-diabetes (both are overweight) if that affects things. I honestly do not want them to be sick. They both practice social distancing/masks/hygeine and so do I. My dad is very anti-Trump, like yours. My mom is very politically neutral. My dad just thinks it's a guarantee he will catch it, and die. And he told me he will leave a very angry letter to me before he croaks if he catches it from me somehow. I feel like I have a very good immune system tbh. I'm the least susceptible to even getting it in my family, but I know that it's still completely possible to get it.

But update from my earlier post, which I admit is very powerlevely. I am now forced to stay in my room for two weeks, as if I actually had the virus. Just from leaving to go to one person's house who does not have the virus. My dad yells at me if I even have my door open a crack. Small upside I guess is I now have a microwave in my room so I can make shit and get on with my school and vidya games. I have no money to move out, but I may as well look up how much I should save up to do so asap.

I've never gotten the flu swab so I can't compare. Makes me remember back during the swine flu when I got the nasal vaccine. That was also a little uncomfortable. I keep hearing about new (at home?) tests that just swab your mouth but I don't know if those are just rumors. I'm also hearing rumors that, even if some of my university classes are listed as in-person, there will be an option to do that class online. No idea how that would work but I don't know if I want to be in person either.

It's not every day you get throngs of angry, gullible idiots selectively placing themselves on the biological chopping block for a moral crusade that has no endgame. The sad thing is, they're putting everyone they interact with on the same block. If I had any say in law enforcement matters I'd charge the lot with bioterrorism.

This is probably the most rational leftist take on the protest hypocrisy I've seen and they still pull the "the blm protestors wore masks and the anti lockdown protesters didn't" card which isn't true because a large chunk of the blm protesters either didn't wear masks, or pulled them down to yell, which still spreads the virus.

I think they just assume that if someone agrees with their ideology, they're good people who would naturally follow all the health guidelines, and if they disagree ideologically, they're evil and dumb and would ignore any health guidelines.

That, and they want the BLM rallies to happen and don't want the anti lockdown rallies to happen, and need to justify why that makes sense, when it doesn't.

Holy cognitive dissonance, Batman! The hypocrisy of these "experts" will never cease to amaze me.

They should at least be honest about their contempt for working class families instead of practicing double-think.

The mayor of Cleveland signed an executive order mandating masks in public. Gov DeWine has been encouraging all cities to mandate masks. Ohio State will also require masks at all times on campus. Dewine has also instituted a corona alert level much like the old DHS terror alert system. At the highest level shit closes down again

Gotta love how every level is "public emergency"

The best part is the only reason Butler and Hamilton counties are Red is because that's where all the free testing as been for almost two weeks now. Warren is only Orange because they publicly called out DeWine's bullshit. He's a wannabe dictator and Kasich's bitch, but he has a pattern of backing down in the face of actual push back. I think he's not doing a state-wide mandate because of that. I think he's terrified of getting sued and the courts throwing out all his emergency powers.

For those who aren't familiar with Ohio, Hamilton county is Cincinnati, Montgomery count is Dayton, Franklin county is Columbus, and Cuyahoga county is Cleveland. Butler county has the small cities of Hamilton and Middletown. A few universities, including the stuck-up-their-own-ass Miami University, but otherwise it's pretty rural and where it isn't it's lots of manufacturing. The only reason the case count there is up is because of the increase testing. Butler county barely shut down, because most manufacturing has been exempted from closing down. It's all so fucking tiresome watching that dictatorial manlet shut everything down because he's gaming the numbers.

Also got a haircut today and had to wear a mask for the first time. Fuck that noise, it's in the 90s and humid, the mask brigade of the Karenwaffen can fuck right off.

Welcome to Kiwifarms.

The only people who need to be charged with Terrorism in this situation is the media for pushing shitty stats about the virus and making everyone afraid to go outside.

I swear to god, Slyvestor Turner really wants a fist in his ass this month.

A virus with a 99% survival and the school districts put up shitty restrictions during the graduations.

My sister is graduating this year and I heard they only are allowing three people to the graduation.

As if they already fucked it up for all the seniors in this country.

thanks politicians - sarcastic comment
Again, i fail to see why my family likes him

Some good Reason articles today.

How very true. Still waiting for someone to say something to me about not wearing a mask outside. Fuck them, fully.

I believe that if you practice good hygiene, it is safe: wash your hands, keep away from sick people. The mask is a placebo though and I believe it increases risk, unless you are sneezy or coughy, in which case, the risk is for your fellow humans. It’s just good manners to do these things.

Note how the MSM keep screeching about the number of cases but doesn’t show the death chart. It’s been going down since April in spite of these Democrat governors stuffing Ching Chong Flu-positive people into nursing homes, the definition of cases changed in 3/29/20 and incentivizing the hospitals to call anything a death by Lung AIDS.

If you are frail, you should avoid crowds anyway.

The obesity thing could be a risk factor but it depends on other things.

By far the biggest risk factor is believing you are going to get sick and die.

Remember, the people scaring the population are also the ones that have been saying the world will end due to Climate Change for 20 years, so I highly doubt the risk is not being used for political purposes.

And that's assuming that you're one of the 0.5% of people even using the fucking thing properly. I make it a game when I go out to see how many people I can spot wearing one properly, because spotting the ones who aren't wound up taking too damned long. Wearing down beneath their nose, over their chin, draped over their neck, plucking at the damn thing every two seconds with hands that doubtlessly were never sterilized, pulling it down to talk, I mean... The fucking list is a mile long.

Somewhere along the way, too, everyone seems to have forgotten that the goddamned thing can pass through the membrane of your eyeballs so the masks wouldn't do a whole fucking lot anyways. If this outbreak has done nothing else, it's thoroughly convinced me that the average person is too mind-numbingly fucking stupid to understand even the most basic concepts of PPE, and think that just slapping any random bullshit in the vicinity of their mouths grants them complete immunity.

I've seen fewer and fewer people with masks lately but masks are mandatory to go inside unless you're a kid or have a bad case of asthma here but it is starting to bother me that they are leaving them in their cars without cleaning the damn things and they will catch something nasty that isn't the coronas.

Most of the guys wearing them around their necks are only doing so to avoid getting in trouble with their employers. I know first hand.

But remember: even thought he virus can pass through your eyes the mask still protects others but doesnt help you at all so you must wear them at all times, to quote a coworker.

I've said this before, when the schools open those kids are not going to clean the masks or change them. It's only a matter of time until some kid develops a lung infection and sues the school district in question.
