Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Visited a local hospital today. All personnel are walking around, doing nothing. The COVID admission tables had zero people. The COVID testing pavilion was removed.
When you ask personnel about the number of admissions, it's always a lie. "More than we can count" and "we are 200% over capacity". Walk down a hallway and see 1 admission per floor.

I believe COVID is real, and probably a pretty damn nasty cold. It was overhyped from the beginning, however, to push an agenda.

I still can't 100% figure out the agenda. Socialized medicine? National union for shit-tier 'health-care' providers? More fraud bond issuances for fraud hospitals? Higher wages for staff? Or something more sinister? I just can't figure it out.
BLM riots really put out the COVID fire, though.

I can't believe how fucking bad the media's lies are now. Literally looking up "COVID case tracker" immediately proves half of the "spike" claims false. Literally pegs in hole shit. Anyone who can't figure out shit THIS FUCKING SIMPLE is beyond saving. And yeah, I know SJWs say the same thing about people they "cancel".

To get pwned by China a few years when the US runs out of money.

My nurse buddy says he stopped counting after bagging 60 bodies this last week. We're a hot spot though. I think in some places, there's almost no deaths.

Twitter tells me that New York is reporting zero deaths from Corona Cooties today. Is this true or are they pulling a China and not counting anymore?

They've achieved at least partial herd immunity and Cumo's policy of seeding the nursing homes with the infected means all the frail elderly who were going to die from it have died from it.

We knew for a certainty from the cruise ship outbreaks that a huge percentage of the population have T-cell immunity. The only debate was what percentage. Now we know it's at least 30%

https://medicalxpress.com/news/2020-06-immunity-covid-higher-shown.html

It's likely to be higher as this study does not include children who display almost total immunity from the bug.

Combine that number with the 90% who will catch the Rona but show no to moderate/mild symptoms and we're talking about a virus that's only a problem for a tiny percentage of the population.

The original plan in most western nations was to let the virus rip while protecting the vulnerable (isolating nursing homes and the like), achieving herd immunity in a couple of months. This was achievable with a percentage herd immunity of around 20%. This plan was abandoned when models appeared claiming a 1-2% mortality rate with a herd immunity percentage of 70%. These models have been proven to be based on bad science but instead of abandoning lockdowns politicians have doubled down.

For example there has not been a single documented instance of transmission of Covid-19 from a child to an adult but we are still keeping schools closed and advising elderly people not to have any contact with their grandchildren. Why?

Some counties still haven't had any deaths. That's the problem with having a national media centered in the stinking pit of disease that is New York, they project their own failings on the rest of the country and convince people there is a nationwide epidemic of gobsmacking proportions. Outside of a few hotspots, this is simply untrue. Many states are seeing negative excess deaths; they are safer now than they have been in years. And the overall death rate for pneumonia, influenza, and COVID-19 is below the epidemic threshold, almost below the seasonal baseline.

Well ho-ly shit, you're telling me we can identify specific vulnerable populations and direct our resources to protecting them? This must be wrong, I was told the only way to fight the COVID-19 epidemic was to treat every single person in the country as a high-risk disease vector no matter where they were or what they were doing, and shut down the economy for months at a time. Like when we had that AIDS epidemic and we made everyone wear condoms 24/7 and told married straight people not to have sex for two years, remember that?

I can't for the life of me figure out why everyone online is doomspilling and convincing themselves we'll never get "life back as normal" or we won't ever have a vaccine, or we'll be in a pandemic for 2-3 years straight, if not forever.

I've seen people say things like "I'm never going to a movie theater again" or "I'm never going to the gym again" and "I'm planning to deal with this for the rest of my life." I don't understand that mentality. I'm not even a huge optimist but it's like people are masturbating to misery.

Give me all the feels but it's like these people have zero faith in humanity, human innovation, and science. It's disturbing.

It's sounding increasingly like they're going to bring back the lockdown because muh case numbers and muh icu is at 82%

As Cuyahoga County approaches the highest COVID-19 level in Ohio, could another shutdown be coming?
"The surge is catastrophic and we are right in the thick of it here," says County Executive Armond Budish.

CLEVELAND — Cuyahoga County is approaching the highest level in the state when it comes to coronavirus cases and transmission. County leaders say we have to act now so we stop the spread in the future.

County Health Commissioner Terry Allan detailed the alarming rise, noting that although more coronavirus testing is taking place, the positivity rate increase from just 3.7% on June 23 to 8.8% this past Tuesday. In addition, 80% of county adult hospital beds and 59% of pediatric beds are now occupied, the highest levels since the pandemic began.

"We need to remember that our young people are not invincible," Allan said. "Their actions have consequences for our seniors, our grandparents, their grandparents and for the child down the street who may be battling Leukemia."

Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish said we must take action immediately.

"The surge is catastrophic and we are right in the thick of it here,” said Budish. "Our cases are skyrocketing, our emergency room visits are skyrocketing, hospitalization admissions are going up, things are getting worse. We've got real trouble."

Cuyahoga County is in red level three and going in the wrong direction towards level four or purple, according to the state’s map. If we enter into level four, Cuyahoga County will fall into the highest level in the state, meaning severe exposure and spread. The state says people should only leave their homes for supplies and services when reaching level four.

According to Cuyahoga County Medical Director, Dr. Heidi Gullett, intensive care unit occupancy is increasing and now stands at 82%, which is a 5% increase from one week ago.
"That crests over the threshold of 80% as one of the criterion for moving to the next level for us that's the purple level,” said Dr. Gullett.

The question was asked via a Zoom conference: What happens if Cuyahoga County hits the highest level of exposure? Do bars and restaurants shut down again?

Allan answered saying, "I think we have to look at what the trending looks like. I think the system is designed to do that relative to rating. Having said that, this is a new issue this morning and what it does is highlights the reason why we are talking to you today about the importance of masking."
Boy, these guys really want the economy to collapse, don't they? I'm sure their constituents won't be pissed at all.

Give me all the feels but it's like these people have zero faith in humanity, human innovation, and science. It's disturbing.
I don't blame them. Humanity, human "innovation", and "science" put us into this situation by having people fuck around and make super-powerful bat viruses (gain of form) as "research" in facilities with absolutely shit biosecurity. Humans then decided covering up the disease for political gain at home and abroad was better than telling the world what happened. Then "scientists" and "experts" came out delivered months of flawed (some laughably so) studies telling how awful everything was going to be and the millions who would soon die and how the only cure was to destroy every aspect of our societies like ebolapox was sweeping through. Then more humans decided this could be used for political gain to help make them and their friends look good and their political enemies look bad. Then more humans found disaster porn sells AND worked for political gain and decided to spread fear and panic every day in the media. Then yet more humans found fucking around with the stats for money for their health departments was a great idea.

And it goes on, and on, and on. This is 99% a manmade disaster, from the origins of the virus to how it spread to the over-the-top response to it to the idiotic politicking. It's a self-perpetuating cycle now. Media spreads terror, citizens demand a response, politicians trying to one-up each other over being the best to handle it, politicians go to the "experts" and their departments with fistfuls of dollars to craft a "response", "experts" come up with new genius plans, plans go into action, and anything that deviates from these plans (like letting people buy seeds at Walmart or drink beer at a bar) is automatically correlated to an increase in cases meaning the media gets a new story and we're back to the start of the cycle.

No end in sight until the hysteria dies down. Better buy your face mask before you're ticketed for driving alone in your own vehicle without one.

It's a great litmus test to see what kind of media people consume. Vast majority of people are normies and don't post about Chinese virus anymore unless it's memes or bitching about how one government measure or another causes them some mild to moderate inconvenience. A couple of people will post contrarian scientific reports or just flat out conspiracy theories. The remainder are doomposters who have MSM hooked up straight into their anus and believe every word. Avoid this last category at all costs.

We've known since March that the Rona wasn't the Spanish Flu part 2. Never mind want the Chinks were saying, the outbreaks in the cruise ships told us this. At worse it would have a mortality comparable to the 1968 Hong Kong Flu, which has proven accurate. During that pandemic they were storing dead bodies in the subways because they ran our of room in the morgues, and it wasn't particularly bad when it comes to 20th century pandemics. Most of the deaths from Covid have already happened, and if the Governors in blue states hadn't shoved infected people into nursing homes and if we'd followed the treatment protocols from SARS-1, e.g. using Hydrochoroquine as a prophylactic for the frail elderly, the numbers of reported deaths would be a lot less.

Some counties still haven't had any deaths. That's the problem with having a national media centered in the stinking pit of disease that is New York, they project their own failings on the rest of the country and convince people there is a nationwide epidemic of gobsmacking proportions. It will be interesting to see the reported excess mortality rate by region and nation by the end of the year. I suspect it will be about Par almost everywhere. I think the politicians and public health officials realized a while ago how bad they've fucked up. But admitting you've sent the country into an economic depression because you behaved like a hysterical woman is not good for your career. So of course they'll keep doubling down. They'll keep going with this until November and then announce that, oh shocker, a reliable vaccine giving permanent immunity to a Coronavirus is impossible and we'll have to go for herd immunity.

I think you have confused "chinamen" as a subtype of "human", you are wrong. They are bugpeople, a humanoid descendent of the common cockroach.

Jokes aside. The virus is natural, I already posted on the gates thread the fucking BLAST and if that shit's artificial it's so through purely mutagen-induced bullshit (random mutations) which, well it IS a possibility, if you assume every single person in the Wuhan lab is absolutely fucking braindead... So it is a possibility, really. But it is more likely they were just testing a natural virus (probably to try and find a vaccine for it and similar viri, since China has had rampant issues with other kinds of Corona they don't wanna talk about and keeps thinking it can somehow fix them on its own despite the complete lack of experts who actually know what they are doing. No seriously the most expert biologists in Wuhan were FRENCH. FUCKING FRENCH. Might as well have gotten them out of Angola taking into account how shit baguettes are at biotech. Then again that's probably why france was the only country stupid enough to accept china's terms...) and then the virus escaped because, well, when the most knowledgeable person in the room is a frenchman that thinks vaccines are the devil, rookies eat the egs they used on experiments after they finish to celebrate and the janitors think selling pigs that were experimented on in the meat market is a normal way of making cash on the side, and hygiene in general is up to par with the rest of china... well if anything we should be thankful corona is the ONLY thing to get out of here this year. Really. It was a matter of fucking time.

It's quite interesting because it's consistent across most states.

You'll have one day where the cases get lower (200-400) and a few days it gets a little higher (600), but then it goes back down (400), but then it goes lower (200). It's a consistent downwards trend in most except for the dead south states. They often report this as a "rise" in cases, which is complete bullshit.

I just had a post-coffee but pre-breakfast thought about why schools are wanting to open even though there are Cooties floating around, waiting to infect us and kill us all.
Schools are used as daycare by lots of parents.
No school = parents have to watch their kids
If businesses open back up, parents will need to go to work
Schools are needed so kids can be dumped there while parents work

Don't get excited about any reports of schools getting extra funding for Covid control. That will go in the pocket of the administrators and none will make it to the teacher/student level.

It goes beyond that. Without the free daycare school provides, businesses won’t have employees (usually low-skilled jobs that can’t be done remotely). School districts are usually among a community’s largest employers too and I predict they’ll cut jobs if they can’t reopen for in-person instruction. Plus there is a whole “school-industrial complex.” If little Johnny and Sally are learning at home virtually, Pearson and other textbooks manufacturers aren’t selling billions in textbooks. There are billion dollar companies that exist solely, or a subsidiary of other companies, to develop and administer standardized tests for public schools. Dairy farmers are dumping milk because a large part of their business is selling milk to schools. Schools spend a shitload of money, which is school tax is levied on damn near everything. That’s why they want schools open...

Anyone who defends the lockdowns is automatically on the same exact level as the most retarded ResetERA posters and their ilk. @ConfederateIrishman and @DubbleBubble congrats, you're just as bad as and not an iota more on the right side of history than people who commission rape porn of Pixar animals and condone the desire to hang all white babies.

Seriously, your reaction to COVID is first and fucking foremost.

I'm in one of the initial hotspots and it was like this during the peak, like hundreds of deaths a day. Now it's usually not over the 10 and some days none at all. It's crazy how it went from being so bad here relatively calm in a short period of time.

We didn't even get any mini spikes as things opened up/increased testing. I find it kind of weird how fast our cases dropped tbh, I don't know what to make of it.
