I was moreso speaking about /mu/ when it came to TKoL, that place straight up stopped being fun to browse after that. Every other thread was either people bitching about it or people defending it. That and Mediafire getting fucked made sharethreads never happen anymore. Anthony became insufferable as a result because basically all he ever did was parrot opinions from /mu/.

Glancing over his Wikipedia entry he seems to have arrived at a plausible brand of 21st-century rockcrit taste that runs toward what I'll call dark prog--the godfathering Swans, this year's number one Daughters, on the rap end his beloved Death Grips. But clearly he's broader than that. Little apparent interest in the pop end or indeed tune or indeed fun, however--always a tragic and psychologically revealing lacuna. Nowhere near as insensible to hip-hop/r&b as dark proggers tend to be, but note that very few female artists crack his top 10s, which in 2018 was really missing the action. Fantano seems to have figured out a way to make some kind of living by disseminating his own criticism in the online age. That's an achievement. But until he starts putting it in written language, I'll live without.

I keep trying to like death grips, but they arn't inventive egnough to shock me after my brief "underground harsh noise beadblasting a virgin's anus with distorted arabic news radio for accompaniment" phase in my twenties, but they arn't catchy enough to tickle my hip hop pickle either.

They remain "intro to outsider music" for present day normies? I have no idea, but they fill no musical need that I have presently.

My theory is that ant just likes them because they were zeitgeist* af right when his channel was popping off and they became a mascot/meme of the channel more than anything.

*underaged girls on 4chan with THAT album cover taped to their wall sums up that era in the same way that tom hardy's myspace page showcases the previous era.

All of his 10s are overrated. Most of his 9s are overrated. It’s not something I’m going to hate him about tho. I don’t really take his ratings seriously as with many critics especially how corporatize he is nowadays.

If you listen to that review it's like he's having a JO session to fill his crystal energy or some shit. A lot of his reviews are. He oversells it a lot to please the crowd, which is okay I guess, but sometimes it's clearly not what he really thinks.

Watched a couple of his videos. He is very point on with an Eminem track he reviewed I forgot which one. Something with liar, pants on fire. What the fuck has become of this talented rapper?

Checked out fantano's latest 10/10 album. Pop album of 3 women group. Listened to 3 tracks on the official channel. Seriously Fantano? Maybe he tries too much to be loving to boring music. The group is called Haim.

I do unironically think anybody who cares about music reviews is a spaz, it's all so subjective and music is so easy to access and test out, I can tell if I'll like an album by scanning the snippets they're always trying to throw at me. I have yet to find the Armond White of music, just an awesome contrarian asshole that pisses everyone off but is the only interesting one to listen to.

Fiona was hawt back in the day. I had a huge crush on her when I was young. I know sometimes I'll try to find something to insult or hate about obviously extremely hot girls that I'll never get a chance to meet or fuck, just to feel better about the situation, maybe he's like me, and has a big crush on Ms Applebum. Try to keep the "I ain't gonna get to fug you" sniping off public social media though, always a bad look, especially with so many other girls able to see it

As someone who has been following fantano for a long time, I was expecting this thread to be made (actually a lot sooner than this). His twitter the past year has been insufferable, standard fare smug woke bullshit.

I just hope you guys don't dwell too much on his music opinions unless it's somewhat related to his politics. Music taste is subjective, and I feel like it would be a waste of time and missing the point to criticize him for something like that.
