have you considered the weird Dick not paying Sean for long stretches in your investigations?
I've considered the shit Dax does with payments weird since Joel Chaco. Chaco booked some of the best most memorable guests on the show and he did it for free originally cause Dax/Nick helped Joel with stuff when Jesse was screwing with him and his family. Joel is a big deal that should be paid attention to cause he is a professional booker IRL.
The reddit went into it, and the straw that broke the camels back was Joel was gonna book Bill Burr for the show. Dax couldn't even be bothered to respond or pay money. When Joel reminded him that he's not a charity volunteer and the not responding when Bill Burs people were asking for simple shit like an address to the studio and Dax couldn't be bothered, Dax then tried to turn it into drama for his show to bait Joel into fighting with him on air. Joel had it and left and did a last episode of "Here's what I don't get" saying Dax is an attention drama whore. When word got out it was standard Dax edaddy reee-fence
>Greedy fuck wants money?! You get exposure! (Exposure in behind the scenes booking? k)
>He's lying about the Bill Burr shit, there is no proof
eventually some one leaked chat logs showing that the Bill Burr stuff was legit
>LOL! K, so he could of got Bill Burr. I don't care! I love and prefer everything my E-daddy does!
and of course the sperg brigade of Dax's personal army fucks with Joel till he STFU. Funny thing is Dax admitted to everything Chaco accused him of. It was the first and last time we would see him take responsibility for being in the wrong. Now we have bookers like Riley and supposedly one of the guys from PKA was gonna help Dax but there is no real info on that. Seems like Dax uses Ralph and PKA to give him a reference and Riley bumbles along to hopeful maybe get shit done (there are a lot of guest no shows and it's obvious why when you look at what a fuck up Riley is)
As far as my suspicions? I think it points toward Dax not actually making as much as he claims he does. I know he's a cheap fuck and with someone like Joel, it can kinda be justified as "I don't know you, and I don't trust paying you with something this important." But later on when Dax stopped paying for bits, stopped paying News Babes, and delays payments as long as he can? That is weird.
It's possible he is cutting some of that stuff out to keep Sean on payroll, but Sean seems like he knows how to negotiate for money and spot bullshit, so it could just be Dax is greedy.
Other theory could tie to the online gambling stuff and his God complex with making money thinking he is invincible, but who knows honestly. That's a tough sell and serious accusation.
Also, wtf @ Chapo Trap Chasers and Last Podcast on the Left making all that loot.
Last Podcast on the Left is massive. It went down hill in quality but over all they do a consistent good show and almost all of the pre 2017 back catalog is worth listening to (before they got sensitive and semi woke). The short fat one (Henry?) apparently also has a successful TV career (
Heroes and
Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell) so he gets a cult comedy following coming in with him.
I don't get Chapo Trap House. My guess is Bernie Bros are desperate for their equivalent of a Steven Crowder and the Daily Show rip off formula is too corporate for them? I found some of the shitting on Jordan Peterson kinda funny and they cover woke shit with out going super cringe, but yeah they aren't very funny or enjoyable IMO.
Sean doesn't need the show money to get by, he lives a normal life outside of the recording room.
Need, no. Deserve compensation for wasting his weekend? Yes. I'd be pissed if I was a completely sober 40 year old guy wasting my Sunday to watch my old High School buddy not grow the fuck up and get completely shit faced non stop to then not get anything in return.
It makes me wonder how much Sean is paid each week. According to Google Audio Engineers make anything from $15-$49 an hour. I hope he gets something in the middle.
Dax made Sean a deal to take him away from Maddox, he offered him a percentage of the cash but he would have to exclusively work for Dax's podcast. Sean accepted and left. The percentage is not disclosed, I highly doubt that it's a 50-50 cut but even a 20% cut of $20k is 4k a month. Sean also became the official co-host (something Dax made a big deal of on one episode tried to kinda take back in later episodes for whatever dumb reason). Dax seems to have issue with Sean not being on every episode when he takes time off and seems to want Sean every episode (hence some of the Sean call in episodes) but some where along the way, this changed and Sean doesn't have to call in if he can't be there (guess there were further negotiations since Dax never sticks to an agreement and alters deals).
>We know that Sean was being paid $500 a month originally because that was the initial patreon goal when TDS started and Dax openly stated he was willing to do the show for free to promote himself, which Sean confirmed.
>$1000 a month on patreon meant Sean got a raise. I doubt the full amount, but I'd say $650-$750 a month was a good estimate
>We know Sean has stated he is very happy with his compensation
>We know Sean is willing to work for free to a point if he likes a project (he did this for BPITU and Dax made a stink about it)
>Dax and Sean have been friends since high school although Sean has hinted at Dax being kinda a volatile friend he keeps at a certain distance. He seems to be experienced in shutting down Dax's bullshit and can deal with Dax in a way no one else can.
>Sean is very private, however he didn't have anything bad to say about Maddox and the shit he did till Maddox jumped the shark with lolsuit shit and calling Marie's school. It's clear he knows a lot more about the Marie drama than he lets on, but he is a professional.
The thing about Sean is he isn't just the audio engineer (and clearly very talented and professional at that job to where quality in his skill is noticeable), he's the co-host. He's likable enough to where even people who wanna shit on Dax can only really point out Sean is kinda a yes man sheep with a fucked jaw that does what he's told. He's compensated well enough to where 8 months of nonpayment doesn't bother him (my guess is a 20%-33% cut). TDS could go on without Sean, but it would be a massive blow to everyone and Dax would not be able to raise a mob against Sean like he does to other toys he can't play with. If there was fuckery going on with the Patreon numbers, Sean would know, but Sean also is professional enough to not disclose anything or leverage it in a negotiation.
Worth a Watch, Nick covers a very important Patreon lawsuit with Owen Benjamin I'd suggest watching all of it but I skipped to the part relevant to Dax.
TL;DR of non-Dax part, 100 Owen Benjamin fans are taking Patreon to arbitration, the TOS for Patreon says that you can't class action Patreon so you gotta sue individually, Patreon agrees to cover cost of arbitration in lawsuit, and because of how they did this now they are in a situation where they are looking at millions upon millions in legal fees that could bankrupt Patreon. Patreon attempted to counter sue to avoid adhering to their own contract but the judge slapped it down cause you can't do that crap. Even if Patreon "wins" arbitration (paying nothing) they lose shit tons of money. Not much of what they can do to retaliate looks good either and would destroy the business. This could potentially bankrupt patreon and forever change TOS of services online as well as censorship decisions.
What I find funny is Nick is backtracking on what we already have confirmed, it's not wrong think that is why Dax got Match listed, it's suspicion of money laundering.
He seems to suggest this can cause fans of Dax to sue for violations of TOS, something about this being in a lot of TOS and companies not being allowed to shift the entire cost of arbitration onto the users suing because it takes away all options for recourse and with a TOS that shifts all the time means the contract is overbearing an no longer holds or something because it violates constitutional rights? I am not a lawyer I don't understand and may not be relaying the info correctly.
Here is the thing, this is better news for someone like Joosh since as far as we know he is actually banned for wrong think. However if Patreon shuts down and goes bankrupt over this I fail to see how it helps Dax.
>Dax would lose the "$25K" cash cow and good luck getting those numbers back up on some other service.
>Dax himself cannot sue, his fans have to sue. If this were pre lolsuit days, I could see this being done competently and sparking real change. Now?
>Dax's fanbase isn't boomer and pre boomer professionals anymore who wanna laugh at some raunchy jokes, it's directionless man children who are attention whores and think if they get a shout out on TDS they will become the next Nick or Mumkey or Whang or (fill in blank of TDS fan alumni that became somewhat successful). None of them are gonna pay to sue. At best he MIGHT be able to get Kian to pro bono, except no class action is allowed and you need a lot of people suing so one pro bono lawyer isn't gonna make a dent. Dax would need hundreds if not thousands of people willing to get their own lawyers in order to pull the same stunt.
>Oh, also good luck with whipping up coverage for a personal army. The autistic manbaby army scares people off, ex fans and contractors will shit all over Dax, his shady explanations will cast doubt, and frankly while people may care enough to throw a $5 they aren't gonna care enough to drop a few G's or waste time because E-daddy is suspected of money laundering but it's actually a free speech issue.
