Is there a similarity between Spoony and Digi?

I think that they are both perfectly capable of producing content that their old fanbase and new viewers would enjoy, they've done it before. They know how to do it yet they refuse. They waste their time on things nobody cares about, they are both terminally online. Is it a time management issue or just mental illness?

This has been said by many people before so it's not an original thought by me but content creators on YouTube have a lifespan. You've got maybe 5 years max to build your nut and then you're spent. You can try to sidestep this a few different ways:

1. Distill your content until it's essentially just a format.

Keemstar, those kids react channels and many youtube political talking heads have done this and it's successful. You can stave off burnout by just existing in a flowstate.

Digibro could easily do this, many other anime youtubers have done it. The problem is that he fired (or he quit I can't remember) his editor who would do a lot of the menial and tedious editing and it's saturated by people like Mothers Basement and Giggcuck.

2. Take your audience and transition them to a different format.

An example of this being done is FPS Russia/Woodysgamertag who have both done this by taking their massive youtube audiences to the podcast format where they can produce content in an easier medium and far more easily get guests. The PKA podcast is what the PCP podcast should aspire to be. Trying to swing from guest to guest and picking up new listeners each time from audience cross pollination.

Digibro has somewhat attempted this with the Pro Crastinators Podcast and his many other podcasts. However, he has spread himself far too thin and the PCP podcast has too many cooks in the kitchen. A veritable whose who of literal whos. The podcast is a tragedy of the commons as no one host makes enough of the podcasts divided patreon pool so they don't have much incentive to care. For Digis cohosts it's simply an opportunity to siphon some of Digibros fanbase degrading life force for some e-shekels. It could be salvaged but it's tainted by the involvement of lesser members of the PCP who don't have a radio voice or a talent for public speaking.

3. Reinvent yourself.

Completely change your content style and rise from the ashes like a Phoenix taking your old audience with you. This is what Digibro is trying and failing at. The people who subbed for his analysis videos do not want to see him blather on about nothing. Perhaps he'd have been successful if he actually put thought into what he was going to do before executing it. This is a common reoccuring theme with Digibro, sometimes his ideas are fine or even good but he won't put any care or thought into how he's actually going to go about executing.

I suspect that this current arc will be the final arc. As he troons out, obsesses over this thread and his youtube career disappears in the rearview mirror he will become increasingly negative and hostile online. He will get drunk and insert himself into drama. His patreon will hit and all time low and he will try e-begging only to be dunked on and humiliated by the people he's tried to start shit with.

It's a shame because this is the future he has chosen for himself, he could get back to treating content like a job and earn his income like the rest of us. He is just too much of a spoiled and coddled manchild to be honest with himself.

You can already see Digibro starting to feel the financial pinch. Apparently he's banned from buying weed. It seems like he isn't able to meet his financial obligations and he's choosing to blame his cannabis habit as the culprit.

When he moved to Boston he and The Davoo split ways because Digi couldn't pay Davoo an honest salary (sub 1k/month) anymore. So instead of underpaying him he just took editing back into his own hands, which is a good thing.

I can only assume BGE can't stream because he is moving.

Curious to how much Digi spends on weed a month. As people in this thread have speculated, i think the push to quit is more of a financial reason than personal.

"I'm kind of trying to shrink my audience. Because there are certain people who say things like "Literally I will watch as much content as you put out because you're my favorite creator, things you say mean the most to me." [...] Well those people are reliable. [...] And the more I scare away the parts of my audience who have been making demands of me, who have made me insecure about my content all this time, like, well, those people are making me insecure then I don't need them around." [source]

This quote is really telling about his current mindset. He wanted to project that arrogant and full of himself persona, but he is actually very fragile. He needs constant praise, which explains his relationship with May, his friends of PCP (and even why Mumkey was fated to leave one day) and how he is dealing with his audience right now.

And I am also feeling kind of sorry for him. Digi is a train-wreck that only the internet could provide us

I think this is what separates Digi from a lot of other folks on this board. Well, I'm not a lolcow connoisseur so maybe I'm a bit off on that, but I don't think the majority of people here want Digi to be like this. He's someone you feel bad about because you've seen him regress from a somewhat okay anime NEET (ponyfucking shenanigans aside) to a loli wannabe. It's brought out all his worst qualities and seems like it's causing serious financial and emotional issues. It's a little painful to watch.

What is really interesting to think about is the fact that that specific Metokur video had, paradoxically, encouraged Digi to come out as trans and develop the way they have this past month or two. It's probably impossible to tell how much of an impact it had but nevertheless it did seem to have an impact.

"I don't wanna chop off my dick, which is what held me back from coming out! Fortunately I realized I don't have to!" Digi, you're not trans, at least as much as that word actually means anything. You're a pervert degenerate who's having a midlife crisis and is trying to reinvent yourself in a stunning and brave way to compensate for your dissatisfaction with your life. I know we're all "haters" here but sincerely, you should put the breaks on things, if not to salvage something of your floundering career, at least to stop before the hormones render you permanently unable to get an erection. May will probably stick with you, and if she doesn't she wasn't worth it.

Absolutely normal and appropriate tweet from a stable beautiful trans woman who does not fetishize the impossible idea of somehow age-regressing from a bearded stoner into a loli.

Archive

The weirdos who come out of the closet to support him on all his Tweets are really fascinating. One of these days, I'm going to go through a bunch and run some basic analyses. How many are the same people over and over again forming an internet hugbox around him? How many have anime prof pics? How many are self admitted furries, lolicons, or degenerates? How many are easily identifiable people? How many post or retweet weird porn? I think it would be an interesting waste of my time.

"Being sober when you're normally stoned all the time feels like you're half as many thoughts, but when you realize time is passing way, way slower than you're used to"

Yeah Digi, but keep in mind that if you in end keep weed as a hobby instead of a lifestyle you will find much more enjoyment in it. It's the same as drinking in moderation, which you also had problems with as well as with smoking tobacco. I agree that being stoned is a really nice experience but sadly tolerance is a thing. You don't have to quit for the rest of your life you idiot. I smoke some weed for a few days to a week being pretty blazed out of my mind, then take two to three weeks of no weed. Looking forward to things builds anticipation and the best part is that you're spending way less money and your highs will come with less weed which also saves money. You don't have to take my word for it but you must have experienced the amount of weed that is necessary to get a good quality high when you're burning it up every day. It also brings time to reflect on the thoughts you had while high from a baseline mind.

But here is my golden grail of wisdom: if you can't get through the day without weed or alcohol, you're bored just like any normal person and you would do a lot of good to find more ways to spend your time. Take up some more reading, expand your musical knowledge, work out a bit, clean up or reorganize some things around the house; these are all things you can do during COVID. Years of experience of being a NEET on disability thought me to that staying inside in a static environment that never changes causes you to not change.

Just try it; you have nothing to lose but some short-term gratification; even if your knee-jerk reaction might be to just say "You wouldn't understand you're a normie... REEEE".

Please. I'm on fucking Kiwifarms because there is no other place to discuss your negative sides without getting called out. I've watched you since before your SAO series and been following after dark for the longest time before you decided to merge the two channels. Being a normie was never an option for me.

I've compared him to Spoony before because the way Digbro describes his downfall in that one Touhou let's play of his nearly mirrors his own. The most important reason he stated was that Spoony made too many promises he couldn't keep, one of which was to produce a movie, thus locking him up and preventing him from doing anything else. Digi's got several projects to work on, around a hundred rants to do (a lot of which requires him to consume media), but instead of doing what his patrons want he makes boring hours long lets plays and he doesn't want to admit he's fucking up. These all culminate in giving off the impression that he's secretly depressed.

I agree he doesn't have the drive to use any of the solutions you listed. Even if by some miracle he starts making anime analyses again, his reputation is so deep in the shitter its gonna take a constant output of great content just to win his patrons back. When his patreon finally hits rock bottom and his newfound audience of sexually confused deviants inevitably lose interest in his being transgender, he'll move in with Vic who'll take him in out of pity. As for May, I think she'll break up with Digi when he's making far less money than before. He's already feeling his patreon bleeding, so I estimate that'll happen very soon.

Feels like Digi has given up on her rants completely and the patron dip is a result of that. There is a huge backlog that was never fufilled to my understanding. These people should seek refunds.

It's just ironic. He spent 300$ per week on weed and decided to go to Boston, because there was supposed to be legal weed - segment starts at 36:30

Here is the corresponding Video with the financial weed figure. 300$ a week on weed. So yeah, great financial decision making. Keep in mind that this is weed for two people, still, 150 per week is more than a 2g per day. He was either ripped off or a degenerate junkie and still is.

What really gets me is that every time Digi has quoted a weed price it's been fucking rape, and he says he smokes like an ounce a week or better. I believe the last time he quoted a price it was in the like $350-$400/Oz range. Which is like $100 too high, minimum. The fact that he can't do better that that shows how socially retarded he must be.

With so many legal states shouldn't the prices on the black market go way down? Those prices are way more than I would pay in my country where it isn't legal.

It's not as cheap in some legal states as you would think. In Massachusetts, the taxes and corporatized industry makes the weed actually more expensive than just buying on the street. A 1 gram cartridge costs about $70, for instance, at the dispensary. If you find a dealer, you can get them for around $50 instead. But in California the weed flows like milk and honey. You can buy a bunch for super cheap.

I have no clue whether Digi is getting ripped off or not, but smoking an ounce a week is unhealthy, period. He can take a 2 month tolerance break and go back to smoking a bowl a night to get ripped. I'm curious to see how far Digi gets not smoking. If it's still as available as it seems (e.g. May still tokes) then I give him about a week.

I agree. The borderline cultists who keep supporting lolcows have always interested me. Not just for Digi, but even people like Maddox and DSP have/had longtime genuine unironic fans.

As of late May you no longer need to be Digi's patron to be in their Discord server, so it's possible that people who were subscribing just for that have also dropped their payments. Not sure how much money she may have lost from this, but it's likely that it caused some dip in revenue.

Holy shit, right after he gets on no-weed he wants to start making new anime content
You can't make this shit up. In a best case scenario I could see him regaining his audience, fulfilling his obligations, then returning to weed in 6 months and doing this whole cycle all over again before completely burning his bridges this time.
