This boy had his body mutilated multiple times to be made into a facsimile of female genitalia, he was forced to act out sex acts with his own brother, among other abuses - it was about so much more than him being made to wear skirts, and honestly making it about that feels disrespectful to the memories of David and Brian Reimer and what they went through.

I definitely agree that Money was disgusting filth who deserves to rot in Hell, as I've mentioned.

I didn't say that gender dysphoria doesn't exist. I was disputing your claim that "being raised as a girl" is what "fucked up" David Reimer. Gender dysphoria is a mental illness, akin to anorexia, body dysmorphic disorder or body integrity identity disorder. It should be treated like those conditions are treated: With therapy to help the patient reconcile with their body and recognize their body as a normal, neutral existence so that they can be comfortable and happy without destroying their bodies and health.

And what's more, most so-called "terfs" agree with that. I have never met any "terf" who claimed that gender dysphoria doesn't exist. They mostly believe, as I do, that it is a mental health condition that should be treated like other mental health conditions, that people with gender dysphoria are still members of their birth sex and do not somehow magically become members of the opposite sex (in brain or body), and that it isn't an excuse for a male to invade women's spaces or vice-versa.

What David Reimer suffered was not gender dysphoria. Gender dysphoria is defined by dissatisfaction and upset at one's normal, sexed body and the sexed characteristics thereof. It is a mental illness. Part of the reason it is considered a mental illness is because the dissatisfaction and upset is irrational. David Reimer suffered upset at his body because he was mutilated as an infant under his parent's and Dr. Money's orders. That is not irrational, his body was not healthy and normal. It's not comparable at all.

What are you even on about? "Terfs" are an incredibly diverse lot, since anyone who crosses the trans community gets labelled "terf", and a great many of them are themselves gender non-conforming women and men. Do you even know what you're talking about?

I mean... I am at a loss. If you want to believe that the real problem with Money's treatment of David and Brian Reimer wasn't the sexual abuse or mutilation of infants but rather that he recommended that David be "raised as a girl" I guess I'm clearly not going to convince you otherwise.

gender dysphoria is something you realise at a specific age, when you become more aware of what genders actually are. that David dude had no say in his 'transition', it was a misinformed idea of a doctor to raise him as a girl due to his 'genital mutilation'.
