Inactive Richard "Lowtax" Kyanka - Deadbeat (emphasis on "Dead") founder of Something Awful, forced out of his own community, on his second divorce, stuck his dick in crazy, "Birth Giver"

Let's be real, getting beat up by Lowtax is the best thing that could ever happen to a BPD chick like Logan Day. Normal people like Ashliii and Megan (or at least, relatively more normal, though still weird enough to willingly get impregnated by Lowtax) keep that trainwreck of a relationship mostly to themselves and their close friends and family. But Logan? She revels in it.

I hope she keeps it coming.

BPDs never face the fact they're garbage or ever do anything to stop being garbage. They sometimes learn they have to pretend they understand that to get sympathy and asspats and then go do exactly the same kind of shit behavior again. I may be exaggerating with "never" but it takes something on the level of finding Jesus or some shit, a Saul on the road to Damascus moment.
You're not exaggerating, you're fundamentally mistaken. Here's what the DSM-5 has to say about the development and course of BPD:
DSM5_BPD_Development_and_Course.jpg
In short they get better with age and therapy, and studies have shown that up to half of them don't meet the full diagnostic criteria after 10 years (i.e. they don't have enough symptoms to qualify as having BPD anymore). They may still have some lasting issues, but they can definitely graduate from radioactive dumpster fires to slightly neurotic but decent people.

If that's the case then why do you almost never see or hear about people with BPD getting better? It's simple:
  1. Recovering from a personality disorder means mitigating/eliminating the behaviors that define the disorder, which makes it increasingly difficult to tell that the person ever had it at all.
  2. The vast majority of people aren't going to stick around a person with BPD long enough to see them recover, because their monumentally shitty behavior drives people away.
  3. People who do recover from BPD are unlikely to speak up about it since the disorder is incredibly stigmatized.
Basically you hardly ever hear about people recovering from BPD because the people they meet before recovering generally don't stick around, and the ones they meet afterwards generally don't realize they ever had it. Recovery from BPD seems rare because most people are hardly ever in a position to see it happen, but to the therapists/doctors/researchers who work with the disorder it's actually pretty common.

Thanks for coming to my SPED talk. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming. Apparently Logan is coping with the hate she's getting for being on Josh's podcast by posting hippie grandma Facebook memes:

And here she is showing off the classic BPD cycle of idealization/devaluation with some metaphors about her life before and after Lowtax:
LoganDayFacebookWow2Deep4Me.jpg
What I like about this is that you can see both sides of the cycle at once. She's idealizing those halcyon days "Before Lowtax" when she needed therapy, had a therapist who allegedly raped her, and was generally in a position where being Lowtax's bangmaid seemed like a positive life choice. You know, the good 'ol days. Meanwhile she's completely devaluing Lowtax as though a few months with him ruined her life, even though she just said two days ago that he was the only one who cared about her alleged rape. Truly some 10/10 mental gymnastics.

Given what we’ve seen unfold the past eight months I don’t doubt she’s BPD.

Same, heck, the mere fact the she acknowledges she has BPD (that is, borderline) is enough for me to believe she has it. BPD is unique among personality disorders as being almost impossible to convince someone they have, due to how it manifests.

Someone telling you your own internal emotions and thought processes and perceptions and reactions are flawed and fucked up is a hard enough pill to swallow even for otherwise healthy people, since someone subjectively grading the closest thing to an objective experience of reality as its possible for you to to have as defective is difficult enough to accept at best -- since, after all, we know what we are experiencing and feeling and thinking better than anyone else, so who are they to presume to know better? -- and that's why diagnosing any personality disorder can be hard and why treatment is often a lifelong commitment.

But BPD goes even further, in that people with BPD react to any sort of criticism like Superman reacts to Kryptonite; they literally cannot handle any sort of perceived criticism -- and that includes doctors or therapists telling them they're wilding out when they wild out. The splitting, black or white thinking, etc. is all a defense mechanism to shield themselves from it. It lets them put people into neat little boxes, like "this person wants to help me, and so I love them" and "this person wants to hurt me, so I hate them". Someone who criticizes them goes immediately into the latter box, so they can be safely ignored or destroyed. Thus, even among those who do get a BPD diagnosis, therapy compliance is often chaotic and sporadic at best, as the patient invariably reacts badly to the therapy, feels attacked, engages in splitting and convinces themselves that the therapist hates them or wants to harm them, and then either finds a new therapist and starts the process again or stops going.

While therapists sexually abusing their clients is definitely a thing, it would not be unheard, under the umbrella of BPD-manifest behavior, to claim a therapist sexually assaulted them, if something as simple as him having patted her on the back or something after a good session is retroactively viewed as assault through the lens of splitting. My opinion is that a lot of the "retroactively retracting consent"/"I realized 4 months later that it was actually rape" stuff is the result of BPD women splitting and viewing a previous totally innocuous, consensual behavior from a past partner as harmful as a part of the devaluation process against that partner who they feel wronged by in some other way.

Love how our little BPD tragicow always looks drunk and/or high in her Facebook profile pics.
Who would have thought that monetizing and encouraging the worst impulses of the terminally online would have unforeseen negative consequences.

Hearing about this for the first time, I have to wonder what kind of person thinks an internet forum suicide pact is a great idea.

I remember a group I spent some time with one summer had a chick who formed a "sober pact" with some guy she never met. If he didn't drink then she wouldn't cut herself, because apparently they both felt they needed someone else involved to be accountable. Needless to say a week later the guy decides fuck it and gets shitfaced and then calls her up and tells her to cut herself. Unfortunately I'm not a total asshole so I spent an hour trying to convince her not to be a fucking retard and cut herself just because some guy decided he wanted to drink. Long story short only retards who are codependent make pacts and people need to learn to be self motivated and self reliant.

So does Lowtax still have to sell SA? Since Logan committed the sin of talking to someone deemed “an enemy” they seem ok calling her trash and pretty close to vindicating Lowtax. I mean a woman talking to Null deserves a good backhand, no?

Lowtax should just say he was punching nazis...or punching someone who might one day commit the sin of talking to someone SA deems a nazi, which means it should get goon stamp of approval.

On those FB posts, Logan needs to work on her metaphors, one does not change from rare flower to moldy cake. Maybe she was a carefully tended yellow lady’s slipper in a hot house but now she’s just a tacky artificially dyed blue phalaenopsis on the throw away rack at Lowe’s. Or she was a rare confectionary creation from Laurent Duchêne and is now a stale angel cake with mold spots.

Other than crushing her hopes of making a lot of money of the SA brand I don’t know what the big difference is. Lowtax did her a favor by kicking her out, she could have easily wasted the rest of her 20’s unclogging Lowtax’s toilets and wasting energy on SA.

Hearing about this for the first time, I have to wonder what kind of person thinks an internet forum suicide pact is a great idea.

It goes to show Lowtax's prioritizing short term gratification over long term investment. For most of its existence, a primary income stream was 10bux from banned people re-reging, predicated on the woefully shortsighted assumption that this was a sustainable business model and that people would either re-reg or that those who didn't would be replaced by new registrations.

Kicking people off the forum they paid their hard earned to join. Great business model. Goons as a whole are pathetic, but over the decades, this bled SA dry as people got tired of getting banned and re-reging. In fact, this practice selected for the sort of unfunny, deeply cucked dorks that populate the forum today. The type that will spend "in the low 6 figures" to buy a dead, gay comedy forum.

Eventually, the admins got overt about this. Anyone remember the Shark Weeks they used to do (maybe still do?), where for a week, they hyper-enforced the rules and banned people at the drop of a hat under the pretense of "cleaning up the forums", but it was really just a desperate attempt to inject money from re-regs?

Even back when SA was in its prime, that shit was questionable as hell. Everyone knew why Lowtax was fucking doing it, and there is historically no faster way to assure that users will grow to resent an adminbase than with inconsistent rule enforcement. A forum that you have to pay to use, that can ban you at any time without consequence, so you can have the joy of spending another 10bux and regging again, is kind of fucking asking for it. That they thought people wouldn't just fuck off for greener pastures just betrays their own arrogance.

I think the first signs of rot I noticed was PYF slowly filtering out the Wrong Opinions. Social justice rants were slowly forbidden from the Idiots on Social Media thread, trannies weren't allowed to be posted in the Awkward/Ugly thread even when it had nothing to do with why they were awkward, etc.

Similar with Games. Once the Minority Viewpoints thread broke, it started filtering into the rest of the forum.

Eh I always liked the idea of shark week.

But the probations i view as a problem espically 6 ers they exist only to give the mod staff a dopamine hit.

Also seeing as how logan sinned and can now be unpersoned they will just disapear any talk of the failed sale. They are still there and lowtax is too PUSSY to just turn the site off.

I've never paid the 10bux, but I have friends that have, and I noticed a tangible change in them as SA has ebbed and flowed over the years. For me, the tipping point was when I saw people who were once pretty chill and loved stupid edgy humor like me unironically arguing that say, allowing edgy humor or character concepts in a TTRPG was a gateway to Nazism.

I listened to Nulls interview with Logan Day, I feel bed for her. She sounds genuine and nice, she has her problems but put two people with issues together and you end up with shit.

Can we a "thirsty" rating up in this piece? Because this thead really needs a thirsty rating for all these White Knights.

Shark week was fine. Don't post for 7 days, and you avoid any possibility of punishment.

Or mod threads where "If you post in this thread and don't do X, you'll be banned". Zero need to post in the thread, if you hew to the rules its fine, and if you break the rules you knew what was coming.

The problem is when the mods start very clearly going hunting with personal grudges instead of allowing a pack of people to form up near the Egress and tell new comers how truly amazing it is.

A "She's not going to fuck you" emote. Though her having fucked Lowtax is enough to give even the most repellent incel hope I guess.

Imagine fucking Logan and thinking about how Richard’s fat sweaty booze smelling body was pumping away at some point in the same position you’re in. Then he rolls off and goes to the bathroom to clog the toilet with an opiate constipation brick.
