Mandatory 8 Hour Timer in new Superhot: MCD

Not sure how many people have played the new Superhot that came out last night, but a few people are starting to report that at the end of the game there's an eight hour timer you have to sit through in order to be able to play the game some more.

In the game it's 'retrieving' the data you choose to delete, but in real life it's nothing but a worthless time sink.

I've never seen anything this off-putting in a game in a long ass time, and was wondering what the consensus is on the Farms.

Multiplayer trophies with insane requirements that require 4 people or more
Games with no maps but have identical looking parts of a level because they didn't bother to design more assets. They then proceed to make a fucking labyrinth getting you lost quite easily. They will also make it dark so you can't see shit either, there's a good number of games like this and it's infuriating.
Online only games that go offline forever after a year
MMO's in general, especially if you want to 100% content
Fighting games that have multiple Up directional buttons in mid combos
Games labeled "Emotional Journies"
The Dreamcast Controller
Duke Nukem Forever
Fallout 76
Mobile Games passed off as Sequels to Classic games that have not had a proper installment in decades
Brazilians in any type of voice chat or multiplayer game where they're allowed to fucking speak
People who play games for the story

... or you could just change your windows clock if you want it straight off the bat and change it back when you stop playing.
The story in superhot is kinda pretentious but don't act like this is some big deal or something.

Game developers implementing shit game mechanics in service to plot or to evoke a certain mood in the player is nothing new. Look up Takeshi's Challenge, Spec Ops: The Line, or I Wanna Be The Guy/I Wanna Be The Boshy. Another 'great' example is Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice directly lying to the player about having permadeath.

With that said, 8 hours of literally nothing is particularly egregious and I'd advise you not to support developers who literally waste your time.

Some people like the meta narrative. I advise people to support developers they like.

If I wanted to wait eight hours to do something in a game I would play clash of clans, or any other mobile garbage that cons you into paying money to not waste time.

Imagine thinking a timer, something the most predatory of mobile games has used for over a decade now, is creative.
No, i'm referring to the creative process itself. You know, the process of trying to do something new and failing more times than not.
I noticed that the same people (charitably spoken) that like to complain about AAA being stagnant and exploitative are also unable to grasp how small indie games sometimes implement things that don't work.
The creative process is built on overcoming failure, if you try to make somebody's first mistake his last one all that you're left with is copies of shit that already works.

I know that paying for experimentation makes this more difficult but that's your fault in the first place when you can just pirate shit no problem.
Please stop being assmad about a creative decision you can undo with 3 mouse clicks, its untoward.

That's a bit of a bummer. Do you have leave the game on or something because that would just be stupid. I'm still thinking of playing the first Superhot though.
