Learning about the holocaust is important, but I find when teaching WWII too many teachers neglect other important aspects of the war and its lead up. It took me taking a specialized course on the Asia-Pacific War to learning anything about what was going on there during the war or what was going on there before the Americans came in. It's also important to learn about the experience of those who survived the camps or managed to hide for the duration of the war, but not at the cost of zero discussion on the experiences of non-Jewish civilians trying to survive as well.

It's also just great that when teaching world history most teachers just speed through WWI so that they can spend several months on WWII and not even cover that well because they just speed through everything before grinding to a halt to spend several weeks/a month on just the holocaust.

I know people laugh at Hi-Point [sometimes for good reason] but I shot one of their carbines in 9mm recently and I gotta say that cheap ugly thing performs decent for a basic, cheap home defense weapon. You can modify it very easily, get longer mags, comes in three different configurations [9mm, .40S&W and .45ACP] and they're cheap as fuck. Might be a decent idea for someone who's short on cash and wants something cheap to practice with before they drop 600+ on a good AR. 9mm and 40S&W don't have much recoil at all fired from a rifle, can't speak for .45ACP but I assume it's got a little kick. If you're curious as to whether Hi-Point earned their shit reputation, look up some torture tests on their weapons, it was surprising as hell to me. Overall they're nothing special, aesthetically displeasing and you might not want to rely on it long as your main defensive tool but for a practice plinker bump in the night gun, you could do worse. You could have one of those little Jimenez saturday night specials.

Also, in response to mention of the BAR, god damn what I wouldn't do to have one of those.

They come in 10mm now too and if you really hate how a Hi-Point looks you've got at least one option.

Grand Rapids police release photos to identify alleged riot suspects

Police released multiple surveillance photos in hopes of identifying those involved in the May 30 riot.

Police have arrested nearly 20 suspects so far.

“Although the riot of May 2020 happened nearly 2 months ago, we will not give up looking for anyone involved and hold them accountable for their brazen acts of destruction,” Grand Rapids police wrote on Facebook.

“Our detectives have been working diligently to recognize those involved and we are asking the community to help identify several individuals in photos.”
