CHAZ/CHOP: Autonomous No Cop Zone and Commune Declared In Seattle - Render unto Warlord Raz what is owed to Warlord Raz

The spirit of CHAZ lives on in Seattle. On Sunday in Westlake there were about a dozen officers beaten with baseball bats, lots of property damage including a wrecked Starbucks and a trashed Amazon Go store. Then protestors marched back up Capitol Hill and set the East Precinct on fire.

A crowd of protesters returned to the East Precinct Sunday night and Seattle Police reported broken windows and a fire that briefly burned inside the fenced-off building.

“The protesters broke out several windows of the East Precinct, then threw a device into the lobby that ignited a small fire,” SPD reported just before 6 PM. The fire was reported extinguished within minutes.

The crowd was part of groups reported marching through downtown and onto Capitol Hill through the afternoon.

Washington vote guides and mail-in ballots got sent last week. For those who dont know Wash state is 100% vote by mail. Seattle Kiwis, who you voting for?

Not in Seattle anymore (thank God) so I can't vote there, but I went pretty much straight Republican down the ticket. In the cases where there were multiple Rs I picked the one who looked like they had the most backing and potential to win in the general. Freed for Governor, Vaska for AG. Only D I voted for was one race where it was just two Dems running and the one I voted for is one of the few people left in the WA Dems who isn't batshit insane. It's not so much that I like the Republicans, it's just that Democrats actively want me to be broke and miserable. If you had told me 10 years ago that this is how I would end up voting I would have laughed in your face.

Loren Culp for Governor. There's a shitload of names on the ballot though.

One officer had "fragment wounds in his neck" (and somewhere else on his body)
Water cannons and live munitions when?

The governor's race is such a shitshow. A bunch of literally who's and nutjobs that will dilute out the vote so Insley has no real opposition. Half tempted to vote for Goodspaceguy.

What, you're not going to vote for Alex Tsimerman and his 25-point plan of "Stop Seattle / King Fascism with idiotic face!"?

Yeah, it's one thing to improve ballot access, it's another when you let any no-hoper nutjob on it. All these people with gmail/hotmail emails for their campaigns... if you can't even afford to buy a .com why even bother? Though I have to admit, I always get a kick out of Goodspaceguy.

I like Culp and if we had instant runoff voting in the primary (which we really should if we're going to have 36 fucking candidates on the ballot) he'd be my first choice but I really don't think he will do well in western WA, unfortunately.

Yeah, this guy:

I was treated like a criminal growing up because I chose Marijuana over prescribed pharmaceuticals. But now the state picks and chooses who is allowed to sell and grow marijuana with its unconstitutional Lottery. decriminalize it and stop the states theft. I am a small business owner who was targeted and attacked by the corrupt and negligent powers of the current administration. In 2017, they ran me out of business, slandered me to customers and made false reports about me cooking meth. I asked, even begged them for help, but they just deepened their attack. but I am from Shelton a street fighter and because of our current President and the transparency, I was able to request and receive FOIA. I found out exactly what they were doing with overwhelming evidence. I taught myself law and represented myself ProSe. I took the state to the courts and won Thurston county superior court case 19-2-01200-34. I promise to fight and remove the corrupt levers of power that control our state; and I know where the Fraud and waste is going. So, I re-opened my store and started this grass roots campaign to take our state back. I trust the people of Washington to think for themselves and trust themselves, so I know you have my back. I have people who know me in every city in this state. We will change the levers of power together and turn the tide on the ones that tried to make us criminals. WWG1WGA, so, I can’t lose. We will change it from the tippy top.

The voter's guide is almost as good as a lolcow thread.

I'm sure there's more in here, but I just control+f-ed "goodspaceguy" and scanned for people who looked funny.

I guess this is just how it be in Seattle

I think normal people need to stop referring to these people as "protesters" and admit that you have a) terrorists roaming the street and b) terrorist in local/state governments allowing this.

This has fuck all to do with niggers and is now a text book insurrection.

Well, they did it. Late yesterday the Seattle City Council said theyd spend 86 million dollars right now out of the citys emergency fund on covid19 relief (to bring the emergency fund down a balance of $0), went ahead with their Tax Amazon plan and are looking forward mgically collecting 200 million dollars in the future.

That article is a good read. THe council is cheering while Mayor Durkan is like "can't you dumdums just wait until next month?" because there's no telling what the situation will be since Congress is hammering out relief details right now.

The Durkan administration asked the council Monday to resist sapping the emergency reserves for COVID-19 relief, at least until August, when more will be known about the city’s economic trajectory and about additional Congressional assistance. Seattle is dealing with a massive budget hole this year and can expect to encounter an equally large gap next year, due to the downturn and money already spent on COVID-19 relief, Senior Deputy Mayor Mike Fong and Budget Director Ben Noble wrote in an email.

“We may need to enter into another stay-home order this year, which could have further devastating impacts,” Fong and Noble wrote.

But the council is running away and spending 86 million even though the city has a huge budget shortfall, and theyre like "oh we'll just put 86 million back in the emergency fund once Amazon gives us 200 million. Now who is the dumdum?" Seriously:

The emergency and rainy day funds today hold a combined $128 million. Taking $86 million for COVID-19 relief and $29 million for budget rebalancing will leave the former with $0 and the latter with $13 million.

Mosqueda described that amount Monday as responsible, considering the JumpStart tax will be used to replenish the funds.

And also, grandstanding idiot socialist Sawant of course is getting 18 mill a year to build low-income housing in the Central District.

In case you think it hasn't occured to these idiots that Amazon and every other business affected by this Seattle-only tax can just say "fuck you later assholes" and move over to Bellevue:

In a letter to Durkan, González wrote she would refuse to “be held hostage” by businesses threatening to leave the city.

“We are choosing bold action as opposed to kicking the can down the road in hopes that some other elected body will show up to rescue us,” she said.

Gonzalez is the same person who pretty much told Durkan to fuck herself when Durkan wanted Sawant removed from the ocuncil for leading protest marches to her home.

Meanwhile, self-proclaimed angry Black woman Seattle College president Edwards-Lange (who I wrote about before) has finally removed the pooping homeless people from her college. They had moved there in a halfassed CHAZ v1.1 after CHAZ v1.0 was cleared out, all these activists homeless junkies just went 3 blocks west and set up their tents.

Edited to add: All of this spending and taxing and magical budgeting is happenining alongside shooting victim Lorenzo's family filing a wrongful death suit against the city, as well as last month's business suit against the city for not disbanding CHOP. This is getting expensive, good thing Amazon will be picking up the bill I guess.

I think it is possible they don't understand that they can't print money.

"But Amazon is here! They'll be here forever! They have, like, infinite money so we should get some!" - Seattle council members who have no idea how large corporations function even though one is sitting in their backyard.

If not for the Bernie Sanders movement, I'd be in awe of the lack of understanding these types of politicians have.

Three. Amazon, Microsoft, and Boeing. There's also a shitload of very successful smaller companies like Valve, RealPlayer, and Bungie.

This payroll tax shit gets better and better.

Who gets taxed exactly?
Employers will be taxed a percentage of the highest salaries that they pay to Seattle-based employees. If more than 50% of an employee’s work occurs in Seattle — and that employee makes more than $150,000 per year — then that their salary would be subject to the tax.

So they're trying to get their hooks into Apple, Facebook, Google, and more since those companies all have engineering hubs here. What makes them think these companies, which aren't headquartered here, won't just fuck off and leave? All their employees are working from home anyway and none of their iconic headqaurters like Apple's 1 Infinite Loop or the Googleplex are here so there's no emotional or symbolic reason for those branches or hubs to stay, they'll just rent office space in Kirkland or Bellevue or Issaquah and that will be that. And what about companies like Tableau (Seattle) which is completely owned by Salesforce (San Francisco)? What the fuck would they care about keeping Tableau in Seattle? wow

But here is where it gets really good:

What about remote workers?
Given the salary threshold, many of the employees subject to the tax will have jobs that can be done remotely. That’s even more likely now that the pandemic has many companies rethinking in-person office work. Remote employees whose work is not “assigned” to any one city will still be subject to the tax if they reside in Seattle.

If any Microsoft (HQ in Redmond) employees or Nintendo (Redmond) or Pokemon (Bellevue) or any gaming companies' employees like Sucker Punch (Bellevue, owned by Sony (NYC)) live in Seattle and are working from home now because of the coof then those companies is now responsible for paying the tax too? THe company isn't even headquartered in Seattle, it could be a San Francisco software company or a New York City finance company or some overseas logistics company and they have a highly paid employee who happens to be working remote in Seattle, and that company is now on the hook to pay the tax. The whole fucking world needs to be prepared to pay into Sawant's socialist dystopia if they make the mistake of hiring someone who lives here. Employers would benefit from leaving Seattle, and also benefit if their employees left Seattle. wow wow

And companies that are in other places that might hire a highly paid remote worker, like a database admin or a software developer, will now need to avoid Seattle residents specifically. wow wow wow

"Highly paid employees" will be encouraged to leave SEattle as well as successful business. (And 150k is not that high for Seattle. Rent and home prices are really expensive, so software devs can be making 6 figs by their mid-20s or late 20-s and if you become a lead or a a product manager or something, then you're easily in that range and any bonuses push you towards it, too. Plus, the tax is counting stock grants as income, so boom - even Amazon entry-level kids right out of college might suddenly trigger the tax. No idea if the grants count upon vesting or what, but if it's before vesting, then every Amazon employee is potentially fucked.) The "highly paid employees", which again is not that high for this area of the country, are the ones who spend money, go for exepensive latte coffee brakes, buy clothes at Westlake, do all the spending that props up the small business and therefore the service workers that Sawant and her socialist allies pander to.

But those small businesses will fail when people don't live or work in Seattle, the quirky coffee shops and happy hour dependant hipster bars and Asian-fusion food restaurants will go under. And that also means a large company like Nordstrom or a company like Starbucks, both based in Seattle, gets triple hit - it pays these extra taxes, watches as "highly paid employees" are encouraged to live/work elsewhere for hire pay in Bellevue or Kirkland and therefore suffers from brain drain, and also sees its local Seattle businesses suffer.

I knew the Seattle City Council were dummies. I knew this. But I didn't know how dumb these dummies were.

wow

Edited to fix the spoiler and to add: I repeat "The whole fucking world needs to be prepared to pay into Sawant's socialist dystopia if they make the mistake of hiring someone who lives here." A few blocks in Capitol Hill for CHAZ wasn't enough, Sawant wants the entire city to be a sad wilting garden patrolled by a mag-dumping gun club.

Three. Amazon, Microsoft, and Boeing. There's also a shitload of very successful smaller companies like Valve, RealPlayer, and Bungie.

Microsoft is in Redmond, Boeing is in Renton. RealPlayer is Seattle, but Bungie and Valve are both Bellevue. I just want on a sperg about how it might affect them anyway, or any company in the whole world if they make the mistake of hiring a remote worker who lives in Seattle.

Consider starting a thread about Seattle's collapse.
