Otherwise, I second a Lovesick thread (perhaps in general video games/arts and lit then moved to community watch if it gets stupid enough) and/or reeeeedrawing yandere sim + spinoffs.

I also commend vertexwindi's work of cleaning up the shit left here by all the Reddit weens and other new users who clearly didn't lurk the thread enough. I surely wouldn't have enough patience to remove all the posts that gunk up the thread; I'd need help.

Like I said in my last post, I really think it'd be cool if the redrawing YanSim + YanSim-inspired games thread was started up again. I also want an eventual Love Letter and/or anti-YanSim/Alex community thread(s); the drama surrounding YanSim and other games like it has just spiraled out of control at this point and it would be great if there was one place (or two) where we can laugh at it all.

On that note, I always thought that the setting could have better, like instead of a glorified weeb game it could have been something like American Grafitti in a late 50's/early 60's american setting or something new and inventive. At this point, even Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0, a movie that's been delayed multiple times (like Cans Without Labels, but for non-bullshit reasons), has been completed and will be released in the near future. So many people (including myself) have thought that this movie would never come out, but at least it's now public knowledge that the film is finished and that's it's finally gonna be fucking released soon. I'm almost 100% sure that Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 will come out before Love Letter or Yandere Simulator, but the big question now is whether any of these games will be completed and come out on their own afterwards. I legit don't know whether LL has a better chance of being completed or YanSim; both of them are games made out of spite, after all.

At this point, does it really matter? YanSim had a chance with TinyBuild but that ship sailed long ago. Maybe it never had a chance to begin with! I realized that as a developer you don't start with the ambitious projects, you work your way up. John Romero's first game was a shoddy text adventure! It's alright to make mistakes, but at least finish your projects. YanSim could have been a decent demo and perhaps an alright finished product but really there's no hope anymore for that.

I genuinely believe that YanSim will be labeled as complete and released, but only because of Alex. More accurately, Alex has incredibly little going for him in the rest of his prospects. He needs to ride the Gamedev Patreon gravy train to his final days, and I believe he knows it too, especially with his sudden concerns over dropping below the poverty line.

My expectation is the Kickstarter will fail, and Alex will downscale the scope of YanSim massively, coast 6 months on 'Finishing what is left" and then call it done and pop it onto steam for a few bucks. This is mostly because he needs to move fast while he's still relevant, clear his plate, and embark on production of his long awaited game, Lunar scythe or whatever the hell he called that old prototype. Then we'll probably follow another 8 years dev cycle for a game where he never implements the first boss because he wants it to be a proper vision for his vertical slice and Kickstater.

Even if the Kickstarter succeeds, I do think the project will still fail and we'll still see the downscale, and the cracks hastily plastered over, because Alex can't manage a project worth shit. The timeline might shift, and the salt will increase when it does die off, but I don't think the end result will change.
