It's not even like he's hard to make fun off, how can you fuck it up?

I think the problem is that they've gone from having these shows focus on satire and commentary to making them therapy sessions. It's all just one big group session to talk about how the Big Old Orange Man/their dad is ruining their lives and is the reason why they're not fulfilled with lifestyles revolving around Tinder hookups, Netflix, fast food and social media addiction. The population has gotten dumber and less mature and thus the audience is being treated more and more like emotionally driven fragile children.I honestly can't recall if the episode had "Plod Turd Man" in it or not. It was a few months ago, and outside of a handful of moments, I tuned it out. I think a lot of political humour has always been lazy, and I tend to avoid it in general, but it feels like it's gotten a lot worse, and inescapable, over the past few years, and stopped all attempts at even trying to be funny. For example, I really liked The Colbert Report back in high school. I watched nearly every episode, and Stephen Colbert, the exaggerated caricature, was hilarious to me. Stephen Colbert, the actual guy, in his current show, just sucks
Look at it on the bright side.
Network TV is dying faster than you can say “Orange man bad!”
People under 20 dont watch TV, people under 30 barely do (which is why they’re doing their darndest to take control of Youtube) and the woke boomer demographic isn’t big enough to sustain them.
That’s also why professional journalists and entertainers of all kinds are shitting bricks and you hear all the fake news hype. (Only trust the NYT, ya hear!)
I...just wanna see good, coherant, well balanced escapist stories... is that so bad? If I want real life, I wouldn't reading fucking capeshit.
but i thouh people like o thats so random, eatting talking in a dinner, instead of stories like what if or red son.I...just wanna see good, coherant, balanced, well balanced escapist stories... is that so bad? If I want real life, I wouldn't reading fucking capeshit.
It's amusing to note that in the Legends lore, the only thing that made the Empire really "evil" was the influence of the Sith Lords. Without their meddling the Empire could definitely be seen as the good guys - as shown with Grand Admiral Pellaeon's handling of the Imperial Remnant. Later incarnations of the Empire were invariably evil as they let the Sith back in (Darth Caedus, Darth Krayt, etc.)Also, is the Empire really fascist? I thought their "human supremacist" side was only ever delivered in the Extended Universe which is now dispensed with. The only really villainous thing they actually do is blow up Alderaan. In any event, the greater political situation in the galaxy plays second fiddle to how it is about the fall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker. (I'm not counting that Disney abortion from the 2010s.)
You could argue that the Empire are actually the good guys, that the explosion of Alderaan (which we only see from a distance and which seems to be thrown away pretty much) was atrocity propaganda (Alderaan is never mentioned before or since; if an entire planet was blasted you would bet the rebels would be memeing "Remember Alderaan" everywhere they appeared), and that it's all about a naive teenager falling in with dodgy criminal types, then getting radicalised in a millennia old religious fundamentalist sect which used to effectively control the Galactic Republic from behind the scenes, which kidnapped children, and which was totally unaccountable except to a three foot tall self-proclaimed prophet and his lackeys, before committing an act of space terrorism resulting in the destruction of a major military base. All those stormtroopers had lives and families.
I never liked any of that shit beyond age 7. It's like Seth MacFarlane (of all people) said: if you form your worldview around entertainment, you're stupid.

SCPs are cool when you first discover them (I really liked "When Day Breaks" and "This Thing A Quiet Madness Made"), but they eventually got like Creepypastas, where everything became a crossover circlejerk.I'm really into the web comics and online horror, so the stuff that I like (and been ruined) have threads on here as well.
First up Homestuck, Acts 1 - 5 were great, Act 6 was bad, Act 7 was a disaster. however, Hussie (the creator) made things even worse by starting Homestuck 2.0 which is being written by a crazy SJW called Kate
SCP Foundation, a horror writing collabortive community got over taken by troons and pc types, it also doesn't help that Admin/Mod Team is full of pedos
Check these out if you really want see how downhill it gone down

Also, the Sith being evil? Really? Because they did "unnatural" things with the dark side of the Force? The Jedi ran things from behind the scenes, kidnapped kids, and outlawed the dark side of the Force for no good reason. They wanted to really subvert expectations, the sequel trilogy could have been about the understanding that bringing balance to the Force involves acknowledging that the dark side is real rather than treating it as a heresy.

I also got bored with them due to the overabundance of lame attempts at abstract or "philosophical" horror. The whole "You Cannot Comprehend Giygas' Attack"/"You Will Cease To Exist"/"this is not reality as we know it" schtick is just lazy writing.
I mean yes, but it didn't quite get as bad as it did in the late 2010s. Granted it kinda lingered in books that didn't really sell, like Squirrel Girl, Hellcat, and I guess Spider-Woman fro m what I've heard?Comic books have been under siege for years, New 52 already was going down the wrong path fairly early on, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl was in 2014 and was basically Tumblr garbage...and even in 2016, MCU wasn't infected with SJW shit like the comic books were getting.
man you know it's gotta be stronger than whatever comics artists and writers did in the 70s.Tbh I used to think it was just the MCU/DCU that's ruined for me, and that the comics could still be okay.
Then, The New Warriors was announced, and honestly, now I'm just more curious what kind of drugs they're getting at the Marvel branch at Disney, because that must be some good shit.
Maybe J.K. Rowling is their supplier, because Christ, never seen an author retcon so much of their own published work got the sake of politics, and I say that as a begrudging Blizzard fan.
How much you wanna bet that these new characters try to act like they're "special" and harass Speedball over his Civil War era shit, thus re-opening his ptsd. The New New Warriors, with Snowflake and Safespace (which I thought was some sort of parody when first I heard of it), and Screentime, who had powers from EXPERIMENTAL INTERNET GAS.
Bugger me with a fishfork, this isn't just politics, this is stupidity.
Yeah but at least it was competantly written and created.
Remember, you gotta judge the writer based on their gender, sexuality, and color of their skin to understand their oppression points being included in the writing. It's why Gail Simone has had a career since post-OG Birds of Prey run.I...just wanna see good, coherant, well balanced escapist stories... is that so bad? If I want real life, I wouldn't reading fucking capeshit.

And I don't even care if capeshit or Soy Wars have their diversity and inclusion, because, again, I'm not a fan. It's just that nerd culture and 90% of modern entertainment is banal, repetitive, and hollow. It's virtual/mental junk food. It's a product of late-stage capitalism, designed to keep the bugmen in a state of perpetual childhood via nostalgiawank.
The same applies, of course, to dudebro bread-and-circus like sports and Cawadooty.
If you enjoy this garbage, I'm not gonna stop you. But I'm sick of it, get it the hell outta my face.
I think that's the point of the aggressive politicization of everything. They don't want escapism.I...just wanna see good, coherant, well balanced escapist stories... is that so bad? If I want real life, I wouldn't reading fucking capeshit.
What are some examples?I also dislike how anime dubs insert identity politics or other shit into the dubs because it's offputting as fuck.
I've noticed that too - they're like a cult who don't want you to escape in any way. Not mentally, not physically. They don't want escapism.
There's a difference between singing about mayhem and anarchyI hate it when metal bands glorify rioting, looting, and murder through awesome guitar and brutally harsh vocals. I miss the good old days (2005) when their subversive messaging was totally empty and meaningless.
If Superman and Wonder Woman (and other superheroes) are supposed to be examples as to why we should love immigration then it's a terrible analogy. The last time that I checked instead of a bunch of amazing people like that, we're getting people with IQ's in the 90's (often being generous here with that number) who commit violent crime at higher rates than the native population and who have kids that they can't afford.
