Not really because

1: ShindoL revealed last year that Emergence was just an in-universe fucked up JAV & Saki was just an actress.

2: Unlike Emergence, this isn't a fictional story, but the mangaka's real life atrocities she had to deal with. You can't put a JoJo version or something like ShindoL did, the ducked shit has happened to mangaka & she faced it all, in this case.

Pretending for a second that psychology is a real science, his breakdown of this information is terrible. He has to know a sample size of 177(354) is to small to posit any conclusion.

He has to know that the measurements of "Sexual satisfaction, positive feelings, social support, and spirituality" are not in fact measurables and when you combine them with the fact that they are all doing drugs, which is mentioned in the article just 3 sentences later, might explain those results.

Also, as any self respecting psychologist would do, you would have to factor in long term happiness and not focus on a snapshot determined by mood swings. Also any self respecting psychologist diving in to this topic would know about studies done showing women's pair bonding ability decreases the more sexual partners they have which is going to effect their long term happiness.

But then remember that psychology has an 80% reproducibility failure rate in all studies done and it's not a real science.

sample size of a couple hundred is good enough, im more concerned with sample selection
also some of the data seems really sketchy. like, 30% of gen pop females report having been the victim of child sexual abuse? there's no fucking way this is real or accurate lol
either way, self reported info is close to worthless imo. if you want some real knowledge about this kind of stuff, then you have to conduct a long term study. like, pick a bunch of currently active porn actors and track their lives for ~20 years after they leave the industry, while regularly recording objective data points about their situation: do they take drugs? are they getting into legal trouble? do they have stable marriage and family? what work do they find? how's their financial situation? etc.

after doing something like that, on a large scale, for a long time, THEN you have useful data that you can compare against gen pop and national averages to draw conclusions.

I could argue a high-class prostitute in, say, Medieval France could feel "liberated" in a society where women are expected to cover themselves all and stay in a hovel until they die of childbirth at 30, but being a "sex worker" now, when every woman in every 1st world country has the same chance at career as men without spreading their legs can't be good for self-esteem.

Has he? His YouTube videos are great.

I think it's entirely possible porn is not great for most of the people who choose to perform in it, might have some really negative social effects, but that it should still be allowed to exist and that we should still respect the rights of the people who choose to do it.
