Some chemo can be an option, but since she probably already has heart damage a lot of important options can be off the menu. Chemo can fuck upyour heart for years, my boyfriend has minor heart damage from chemo 11 years later and he still has to take meds for it. The meds take the piss out of him too as they lower his blood pressure and he's a skinny young healthy thing. I doubt AL'd be able to handle both the chemo and latent effects.I am not sure about chemotherapy, but I know more about radiotherapy. External beam radiotherapy (big machine with either a radioisotope source (mostly obsolete now) or an electron accelerator) works very well on delimited tumours (good for brain or breast cancers) but not so much for cancers where they have spread through lymph nodes. The first step of radiotherapy is to have imaging done with a radiotherapy simulator (specialized CT scanner).
The second type of radiotherapy is brachytherapy. In brachytherapy, radioactive needles or an applicator are inserted close to the tumours to irradiate them within the body. This works well for prostate cancer.
To be successful, they need to know where the cancer is through CT, MRI and possibly PET imaging. Unfortunately, Amber does not fit in those machines. She would need to lose a lot of weight first before they even attempt radiotherapy.
