Social Justice Warriors - Now With Less Feminism Sperging

The funny thing is that they absolutely could try an "off grid" lifestyle if they had a strong desire to do it and would put in the effort. There are people who live basic lifestyles out in the bush in northern Canada or Alaska. Some religious farming communes are also quite successful.

The real reason they don't is that an off-the-grid lifestyle absolutely sucks for the vast majority of modern people. Few anti-capitalists will admit that, though. Farming without modern machinery (made by capitalists) is back-breaking labour and hunting does require some skill. Farming even with modern machinery is a gamble, as bad weather can destroy all of your crops.
And they can always dismiss such attempts to put their labour where their mouth is as "Just build your own society goy" .

You know what I mean, right? Marcos banned Voltes V, which was extremely popular with kids, and that went over so badly that people still remember it four decades later. It turned the kids against him.

Young people traditionally don't vote - this may be the thing that gets them to do it. And they won't vote for Trump if they do. That's why he should let the damn thing go.
You're reading far too much into it. If he bans TikTok now, there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth... and then next month everybody will be using the next short-form video platform. By the time the elections roll up, no one will remember it. TikTok wasn't the first, and it won't be the last, and it's not like TikTok users are head over heels for Trump to begin with.

And it will set a precedent that the government can and will crack down on faggy tech apps for malfeasance. This is entirely a good thing.

Most of those kids can't vote anyway and the ones which can are a drop in the bucket. By 2022 or 2024 when they can vote, they'll all be busy with some new social media platform and "remember TikTok" will be the "remember Myspace" of their generation.

That’s a quite frankly dumb comparison.
First off, the attention span of a child nowadays is a lot shorter since they have so much entertainment on demand that they’ll forget about Tik Tok if it’s removed (see: Vine). Losing a beloved anime in the 80s was a much bigger loss when there so little available.
And keep in mind, this is someone who agrees with Null in Trump’s censorship.

Isn't TikTok used by about 20 million Americans? If even 1% of people hold the grudge that's still about the size of r/The_Donald in 2016. Then again, I'm not sure if the skills required to get e-famous on Tik Tok are transferable to propagandising people on the internet.

That's exactly what's happening. I've been hearing stuff about people on TikTok telling their viewers to get out and vote, to register if they can. It's not just teens who use the damn thing - there's a lot of people who are 18 to 22 on there... and they can vote. The election's only three months away.

He can't do it, but threatening to ban it doesn't help. If he just backs off, never does it and we all forget, they'll all forget too.

I'll give you good odds that 90% of the e-famous people on TikTok who would be willing to talk about politics are already hardcore anti-trumpers to begin with. My point is that banning the platform won't spur people into action because another platform will rise to take its place. Even if they try to get people to vote, the DNC has been trying to get people to get out and do it since 2016 and it hasn't done them much good.

Besides, would those votes even be in states that matter? If 20% of TikTok's userbase votes, that's 4 million people. If 3 million of those votes come from New York and California, places Biden would win by default, what does Trump care?

You and I know both know that the internet never forgets. Even if he did back off, it’s not in their nature to forgive and forget. Plus as mentioned earlier in this thread, most Tik Tok users weren’t exactly Trump supporters to begin with so this would change nothing.
And this all hinges on your belief that this will somehow spur people into action and vote out the Republicans, when past years have proven otherwise.

Yeah, but I doubt they were going to vote in the first place, and now they might. If he backed off, everyone on TikTok would forget about it and definitely stay home like they did the last few years.

If the constant fearmongering in the media about how trump and the republicans is going to kill us all if we don’t vote wasn’t enough to get them off their asses, what makes you think Tik Tok will suddenly make them turn around? (Not to mention how sad it would be to have people vote out of pettiness over an app)
This is just coming off as baseless paranoia.

Banning tiktok won't mean shit. Kids that use it only do for one reason: they a really short attention span.
Take that away and they'll just watch something else. It's completely irrelevant. As someone said before the VAST majority of users are 16 and below. They won't care for more than a month. They'll be like their parents and just chimp out on Twitter about Cheeto Hitler and move along.

The only reason people outside of Tiktok's shallow users even started caring about the damn thing is because of that bullshit story about kids using it to foil Donald Trump's Tulsa rally somehow. Likewise, the only only adults seeing this ban as a crisis are the same dullards who took that dumb story seriously.

This is the worst MiB fanfic I've ever read.
