Labor isn't an important factor in determining price, it's based on supply and demand. How the fuck can't they get that through their heads. Working hard on it is worthless if the service or product has a nonexistent demand. Taking basic economics basically makes any Marxist theory sound like nonsense.
They care not about the economy. Nyk, Oli, noncompete, etc... want to believe that the only reason they are not part of the elite is because prestige is in the service of capital. If things were measured in labor, they believe, then they would be on top since they went through the oh so hard task of study philosophy, or read the fucking bread book.
Ancoms remind me a little bit of ancaps. The two groups couldn't be more different, and yet they have something in common: they despise mainstream economics, since it unambiguously refutes their delusional ideas about how society works.
Ironically and, if rational wiki is correct, (yeah, I know it's a shithole) noncompete was an entrepreneur (and a libertarian) back in the day. By the way he talks, and the arguments he employs, I can tell from a mile away that he was the kind of "entrepreneur" that adds no value; a snake oil salesman so to speak.
I don't remember clearly in which video he did this, but Oli cited a "marxist economist" who predicted with "great detail" the 2008 crisis but "nobody listened". Turns out Austrian economists (the school not the nationality) and libertarians in general also "predicted the crisis". The truth is that a lot of people knew beforehand, but you don't get the great machine of economy to reform itself whenever you are scared. Hell, you can even say that a lot of people knew of the current crisis even before covid was a thing.
