Absolutely. We've tested the Conservation of Momentum so many different ways that we know for practical certainty that it is a thing and that you cannot violate it no matter how hard you try. If negative mass or energy density could somehow be synthesized, it'd be an interesting thing because we'd have to re-evaluate causality to some degree. The Alcubierre metric tries to get away with it by preserving causality locally, but it could still cause some paradoxa.
I'm not holding my breath on discovering negative mass, though. The only even semi-plausible lead on that that I heard of is the hypothetical Woodward effect, which apparently has a term that would allow the creation of negative energy density under certain circumstances. But the Woodward effect itself isn't exactly proven or even accepted science to begin with.
