I think they’ve gone past the point of no return with that; if Catradora is anything to go by, people’s opinions on the show will depend solely if this couple gets together and if they don’t, pitchforks and torches get pulled out. This is why you never, ever try to court shippers.

On the topic of “representation”; eh, call me when they gather up the balls to show a gay male as part of the main cast.

You know your right most of these cartoons just have lesbians. Where are all the male gay characters, loud house is the only one I can think of that has a male gay couple.

Also do you think in the future, once every cartoon has nothing but lesbians characters. will we see a pushback. Like people will be like.

"When can we see some straight characters. In animation again" 2022?

I only saw like 4 or 5 episodes of The Owl House and I had to drop it, just too boring despite having the double of run time that the other series it feels like nothing happens most of the time, the humor isn't funny for me and I just think that Luz's motivations to stay with Eda are shit on top of no having a sense of urgency because she can go back home every time she pleases. I also lost interest when I saw that the series eventually becomes Harry potter but gayer and for what I can see nothing has changed.

It's funny to think that between Amphibia and TOH, I thought that the latter would be better but I understimated Amphibia's concept, worldbuilding and characters.

Same, although sticking through Steven Universe in its entirety and seeing where She-Ra ended up caused me to feel some serious burnout towards original Western animation in general. The whole #BetterCartoon thing and seeing it look like more of the same shit MAY have caused that burnout to last a little bit longer.

I really wanted to like TOH; the description made it seem like it would be a fun horror comedy and the background art really lent itself to that. Then it turned out to just be Steven Universe meets Harry Potter with a quirky female lead; in many ways, it feels like what would happen if a #bettercartoon pitch was actually picked up for a show. Hell I think one of pitches was nearly identical to Owl House.

Amphibia seemed to have been made by the better half of the GF crew since they somehow managed to make the idea of a frog isekai work, all while avoiding the pitfalls of modern animation.

I came across this tweet promoting a new series out of South Africa called Isaura. It's set in Africa, seems to have very strong ocean motifs, and is absolutely gorgeously animated. I'm really excited to see what it's like- the quality and animation style is extremely refreshing!

Looks like the writers are going to have Luz and Amity be a couple. The ending reveals that Amity wanting to asked Luz to the dance, but was afraid too and in the end they went to the dance as friends. But it's clear the writers are going to have them be a couple in the future. .

How boring. I lost interest when Luz went to the magic school and looks like I got out at a good time. Shame really, I was hoping it would be like a female version of Sword in the Stone: human student, magic teacher, mouthy sidekick, learning life lessons through magic, greater destiny discovered towards the end. No no it's diet Gravity Falls with canonically gay Pottershit. They'll start singing next, mark my words.

I'm sick of magic anyways, these people act like magic is the only type of fantasy out there! Where is the steampunk?

I've noticed they only include gay dudes as parents. I've seen more gay dads than gay moms in these cartoons lately. It's saying something when they're pushing chicks to be more independent and strong while pushing dudes to be more emotional and supportive. That something is...troubling.

You know I dislike fans who just watch a show just for a pairing, then for actual story.

I mean I liked Gravity falls for the story, not for who every Dipper or Mable are going to end up with in the end.

I mean those who just watch She-Ra just to see Adora and Catra to end up together not for the story just sounds offer. I mean sounds like if the show didn't do that and just concluded the story. Fans would have had a hissy fit. Sad that people can't enjoy good story telling and instead just forcus on who every maybe lesbian.

I never watch She-Ra, but what I read on TV Tropes Cain and Able page, they were ment to be like adapted sisters. So when i heard they became a couple in the finale. I was surprised, so the creator is saying it's ok to date your adapt sibling?

It is weird that we haven’t that many animated series with the steampunk theme outside of Avatar I think? Even weirder is that it’s always been the most popular aesthetic in geek culture so logic dictates there’s at least one animator familiar with the genre.

If I had to hazard a guess, I’m thinking it has to be a budget issue. Take a look at the steampunk art you see online; could you imagine trying to make that look good on CN’s budget?

Shippers are weird. You can fill an entire book detailing their culture and psychology and it’d be a horror show not even King or Lovecraft could top.

My only knowledge of The Owl House is the way it pushed in its pilot just how much the main protagonist was #relatable and not like other girls unlike the other girls—you know, sort of like what I mentioned here.

If that’s their way to endear me to the main fucking character (especially when she’s the closest the show has to an audience surrogate), that’s a bad sign.
