Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Oh bullshit Alex those cops in your show were gay as hell
You know, when I think about it. He didn't need to confirm that the two cop characters were gay. It was very obvious.

Also wasn't the creator from catholic upbringing. I guess she's not a practicing one anymore.

Also way do these writers aways say the first time every. Dude, theirs been Steven universe, She-Ra, Legends of Korra, Loud House and Voltron, My Little Pony (granted in the last season) that have done this before. Show stop with this shit.
I didn't realized Alex was a woke weirdo too.

Also this isn't even the first Disney show to have a gay person in it. The live action Disney show Andie mack did and even before that Good Luck Charlie had a episode that had a character who had two moms. Your not special as you think.
Throw Disney seems to want to forget Andie Mack for some reason? (Maybe because that one actor turn out to be a pedo)

In 2012 I was convinced cartoons wouldn't explicitly show gay people until well into the next decade.
Well looks like you were wrong. I miss 2012 now. Back then they weren't forcing identifies politics on us everywhere we went.

I mean it sounded like a good idea to make gay marriage legal back then. I had no idea of the consequences. I didn't realize cartoons and other entertainment were going to to make every character gay, if i had known, I would have had second thoughts.

Would he ever have bothered to celebrate this if the show wasn’t made by his girlfriend and he didn’t have a part in it? Has he ever praised the show for things that mattered like story or animation?

I’m so sick of this stuff being treated as the “first time ever” every single time it happens.
That’s what gets to me. Ever since Korra concluded nearly six years ago, we’ve been getting the same lesbian couples and people (fans and staff) still hype it up like it’s still groundbreaking and provocative.
When you only have one trick and still expect people to clap and be impressed, it starts to get annoying.

Now if only they could cater to more than one marginalized group.

I used to love watching Katie and Orbie... I haven't seen anyone mention it yet.

I used to watch these a lot as a kid. I'm sorry if they've already been mentioned.
Oh hey, this reminds that Undergrads is getting a movie after the crowdfunding was a success. Another project that the creator actually wants so I’m on board with it.

Dana did state she was Catholic to get the satanic panic wannabes off her back. The faith is a little more accepting of queers so long as they shut up, pray, celebrate the holidays and put money in the churchbox.

You didn't know Hirsch drank SJW kool-aid like it's water? Bless your heart if you don't go on twitter. He's got terminal Trump Derangement Syndrome and basically considers himself the greatest thing in DTVA history by how much he lectures everyone on what makes a good cartoon like he's fucking John Lassetor. And here we have him boasting about his girlfriend's lukewarm show saving its ass with gay shit (while biting his mouse master's feeding hand) like a good beta boyfriend.

About those cops being gay and obvious: of course Alex won't mention it because it'd make his woman look like a liar. Not to mention the cops weren't supermodels, women or children so nobody cared.

Cybersix brings back good memories. I used to have a french friend who would gush about it to me. It was cute to see him dress as Lucas on halloween since he was big and blonde just like him (some friends thought he was inspector gadget at first haha). This was a collaboration with Argentina, France, US, Canada and Japan. I wish more animation was like this but that vision died with the creators. :heart-empty:

dreading over the possibility of woke calarts Kim Possible reboot. Thank god the live action was a pile of shit so we're probably safe
edit: I hate kigo shippers
I honestly never got the Kim/Shego shippers, at most I saw them as Frenemies that liked to get on each others nerves. Also, the movie "So the Drama" literally ended with Ron and Kim getting together, with a kiss and everything, so I would have thought any other ship would have sunk after that. Always saw that film as the series finale (which it was apparently made to be until Disney renewed for a fourth season) that tied together the series and gave the fans what they wanted with Kim and Ron finally getting together.
Remember those “fake anime” style cartoons from the 2000’s?
The art is way worse than I remember it being.

Well I made a rule to myself that certain actors twitters are off limits, out of fear that they maybe suffering from TDS.

Ashame to hear, he has a bad chase of TDS and a massive ego apparently. I mean i like Gravity falls, but I don't think the creator should act like he's better then everyone else. I didn't know he was dating the creator of the show.

I'm a practicing catholic and well I'm fine with gay pepple. It's just i was hoping to have a break from all the lesbian stuff in cartoons. Also it's annoying how all these cartoons try to act like they are being grand breaking, even after all these cartoons we've had with lesbians in recent years. It gets tiring.

I think my main problem with this recent increase in lesbian stuff is that not much of it feels "earned" or natural in the storyline when shows do it. It often feels tacked on and a case of an outside creator forcing characters together that don't have the proper chemistry for it. For all the shit I've seen some western animation fans give anime about "lacking representation" the shows that do feature it seem to treat it more naturally in my opinion.

I'm speaking as someone who watches far more anime though, I'm not super knowledgeable about current state of western animation past some of the more popular series.

I think it’s the ego that gets to me. I do still think Gravity Falls is one of the better cartoons to air in the modern era but Hirsch hasn’t done much in the four years it’s been off air; all his pitches failed, his scripts for movies were scrapped and the best he could do is voice roles in his girlfriend’s cartoon. Yet he still acts like this big shot who’s The Godfather of animation.

While the topic is still on Hirsch, it seems that he chimed in on the R&S reboot as well:

Never would have I imagined that I would miss the early 2010s.
