Why is CNN claiming that Trump is trying to get his face on Mount Rushmore?

"Hey. Hey. Call the guys in South Dakota. Tell 'em I want my face on the mountain, after all the bullshit the fake news said about my speech. Watch the left lose their minds when it leaks."

And THIS, THIS right here is why I don't advocate for the GOP just handing Trump the power to do whatever the fuck he wants.

I will take the GOP to task for not voting sensibly on shit like the repeal (I hope John McCain is getting raped by Tranny Demons in Hell with 2 Foot long dicks) but just handing the president unlimited power can come back to bite you in the ass when someone you don't like is in power.

So long as Congress is deadlocked/no one party has a super majority in the Senate (basically 67 Senators), it's become a point that the only way to get shit done is either executive order or Supreme Court edict.

The cynic in me fully expects the Supreme Court ruled the way it did on DACA because they want the Democrats to have absolute power via EO decree when they take power, while expecting Trump and the GOP to be too scared from being rebuked, to notice they basically made it impossible to undo executive orders (meaning anything Trump passes with EO can't be undone by Biden putting out a counter order undoing Trump's EO) and that Trump literally CAN do anything with an EO decree.

The law in many cases only applies to enemies of the Left, such as with masking and lockdown rules, black rioters released freely onto the streets after arrest due to "Coronavirus fears," and activist circuit court officials demanding clearly unconstitutional rulings about border security.

Chances are high that this ruling wouldn't apply to their people, or would be overturned by them the moment they got power.

What was done by a 5-4 decision can be easily undone by a 5-4 decision later. After all, who's going to call them on it?

Tell that to the retirees or the elderly or the disabled. They're PART of Social Security income as well.

I wouldn't go talking about Ponzi schemes when Trump is known for a couple scams.

  • $10,000 was spent on a portrait of the president, later found on display at a sports bar at the Trump Doral;
  • $100,000 was used to settle a legal dispute with the city of Palm Beach, which Trump resolved by contributing the amount to the Fisher House Foundation;
  • $258,000 was used to settle lawsuits against Trump and his businesses, including $158,000 to the Martin Greenberg Foundation, whose founder sued the Trump National Golf Club after it failed to pay him a promised $1 million for scoring a hole-in-one at a charity golf tournament;
  • $5,000 was used to advertise Trump Hotels.

Charities often spend money on advertising so the portrait and hotel thing are questionable as to whether they were that bad, especially when you consider the kind of money charities deal in usually. The settlement with the city and the Greenburg foundation doesn't have a lot of info and could be some disagreement over who would pay what after some charity game or who knows what. So who gives a shit? Especially when you consider that it was considered charity fraud when Trump was campaigning and had his charity donate money to some people, that alone makes me assume all these other accusations are bullshit where they're just being pedantic about what is technically being charity versus possibly advertising or whatever the fuck.

And when it comes to the social security income, nothing's changing for anyone. No one is going to tell retirees that they're fucked over now and their checks are shrinking and the arguments from Democrats implying that's the case are total lies that would only be honest if they believed the budget had to be balanced to pay for any of these programs they say they support. In reality, the government will pull the money out of its ass and life will go on.

The Democrats are seriously trying to talk like just because the tax, that's meant to fund social security, is getting a temporary holiday (just as Obama did in the past) that it means social security is destroyed and retirees are getting royally fucked. It didn't get destroyed through the previous tax holiday and it isn't going to get destroyed this time either.

I'm assuming they ruled as they did on DACA because they wanted to avoid seriously upsetting the status quo, but knew they needed to say something on the subject after putting it off so ridiculously long. Similar to with journos, the judges are likely glory hounds wanting to soak in the admiration of the media Ginsburg style and being vilified would make guys like Roberts feel like shit.

The effect their rulings has had on Trump's ability to do EOs is an unintended side effect. Especially this latest unemployment check EO. Realistically it should be able to be brought to court and struck down as this was not a program legislated to continue, unlike the border barriers which congress legislated would be done and simply did not allocate funds for. The reason it won't get brought to court is the Democrats as a group are typically not stupid enough to want to take the blame for people losing those checks during a pandemic.

SCOTUS will definitely be willing to allow Biden to undo whatever EOs Trump does as it's purely a political group now and there's no risk of losing party invitations if they allow a Trump EO to be countered.

I am really really uneasy about expanding the unilateral powers of the President even further. I am a libertarian at heart, and the phrase "emergency powers" doesn't fill me with confidence.

However, the Democrats sowed the wind, now they are reaping the whirlwind. They handed Trump this power when Obama ran this country as a Presidential Dictatorship and none dared stand in his way. Turnabout is fair play.

If these powers can be used to prevent the other side, who has no qualms about using all these powers and more to further their own ends without restraint and has done so multiple times in the past, then I don't see much of a choice.

If it is between a light handed Presidential Dictatorship with a leadership which at least pretends to agree with my values, and a heavy handed Presidential Dictatorship with a leadership that openly hates me and my values and has already announced plans to use their unlimited governmental power to crush us. I guess the choice is pretty easy.

I am not saying we are remotely close right now, but we are a damn sight closer to this scenario than I would like to admit.

If it's a choice between being the boot or the neck, always pick the boot.
