Not surprised that Alex doesn't know shit about Japanese history. I'm willing to bet that he learned Japanese history through watching anime.
About that: 1. Someone actually pointed out that the school uniforms are wrong for the age the characters are, so he knows shit about actual Japanese society, and 2. The only Japanese history thing that’s in anime/manga I can think of is the manga Vagabond, but that’s in development hell because the guy who makes it puts a lot into his art and he sees manga as something that he just can’t do just for the sake of calling his job a mangaka.

The incorrect Japanese uniform debacle just proves that Alex 100% has some kind of schoolgirl fetish in my opinion. He can swear up and down that the characters are all "over 18", but even if they are not minors, it's still really fucking weird that there's grown-ass adults roleplaying as high school students. Even if they were true-and-honest high schoolers it's still weird as hell. Any time someone who's Japanese hears about this game and sees the characters running around with middle school uniforms on, they're going to assume that they're all 12-15 years old.

It's the same thing nsfw artists do when they draw characters that look underage. They have the appearance of a middle-schooler, but they're really a 1000 year old witch. They only do it to avoid getting in any trouble. In Alex's case, he did it to mitigate the controversy surrounding the game's features (torturing kids, snapping panty photos, etc.)

This is probably gonna be false and autistic, but while we're on the subject of le Japanese accuracy, especially with the principal pulling a fucking taser on you, wouldn't there be some sort of sasumata usage? I remember looking it up and finding some specific Reddit post (which I'd love to look up, but the subreddit's locked down, so can't do shit) where Alex mentions he might put it into the mode with Ayano's mom, but it's not like this is a relic of the past or some shit, is it? If you look around, you can find what seems like a school staff drill in using it as soon as four days ago. http://www.keimei.ac.jp/principal/601/

For better or for worse, everyone who cares isn't his target audience, and his target audience is either too young to be pedos or doesn't care.

Given that pepper spray is restricted 'unless you have a good reason', I imagine tasers are a Tokyo no-no.

Side note, that means the Student Council shouldn't be able to carry their spray until something bad happens at school.

Sasumata are totally fair game, though. But they'd require animating something and a whole new 3D model.

All of this proves that Alex should try to get a slave volunteer who's an expert in Japanese history into his team in order to make the game more authentic to Japanese culture. But who am I kidding? Alex probably thinks he knows everything about Japanese history from binge-watching a fuckton of anime throughout his life.
Nah, Alex is too "iluminated" to work with sense.
And all this specific lore shit, i remember a friend who learned politics watching anime.
Oh god, isn't too hard investigating a little...

Supposedly the first two aren't even japs, if I'm reading this correctly.
He did say that 1797 was the most important year in the game, so they probably came from America because of war or some shit. For some reason, the idea of some yandere wearing classic colonial clothes is extremely funny to me.

Well, he did say her colour scheme was always red, white and blue.
If anything, you could make it so the family came when Matthew Perry opened up Japan, but that’s probably too much of a stretch.

>Weeb is creating an anime inspired game about a yandere killing for her senpai
Japan asleep
>Weeb is fucking up Japanese history and making other weebs believe it.
REAR SHITTO!
Yeah surprise Japan doesn't mind the west doing anime stuff. They care when you lie about their culture and history (you know, like any normal person)

I remember this being a thing: http://archive.md/Nlw9E
Basically: The characters name sound weird as fuck in Japanese. Alex refuses to fix them.

To be fair, animating a character with a sasumata is probably pretty difficult.

In general though, Alex has this uncanny obsession with instant game-overs. Isn’t this game supposed to be about living with the consequences of what you do at school? If an authority figure like a Student Council member witnesses you commit murder, surely there are more interesting consequences that you can add than “u fail instantly lol”.

Oh yeah, Alex tried to have names that were either puns, had meaning, or were something that came from reading the kanji. Is it always the creator’s that talk about how much they love anime that end up missing the mark when it comes to making something akin to anime?

That time kiwis predicted the future long before even hate and shame came out.
Since he's aware of this thread he'd be able to find out what happened pretty quickly.

"People are finding my personal information and using it to stalk and harass me. It's causing anxiety and stress as you might expect so game development is going to be slow". I don't even think him saying something like that would be an exaggeration of how someone would feel. It's one thing to get called names online where you can just logoff and ignore it. It's another thing when people start invading your life outside of the internet.

tl;dr Don't a-log it's not productive or in any way useful.
this was said in response to someone thinking of trolling and calling up Alex when his phone number was revealed long ago

Also. I’ve done it lads. I’m caught up in all 2000+ pages of the thread. You are all amazing. Take a page out of lolcow textbook behavior and never change.

I assume it's because instant game-overs are the easiest and simplest option. Since the student population relies almost entirely on a sequence of predetermined/scripted events, the idea of having something like Student Council members stalk you around the school after they've witnessed you being naughty either never occurred to Alex or was deemed "too hard" to code after he'd made the abomination that is StudentScript.cs.

Living with consequences? What consequences? This is a game about purging the unworthy/unclean and knifing skanky sluts so they don't corrupt poor innocent Senpai over there so he can finally hook up with the doormat of his dreams. Any "consequences" are at best minor obstacles between you and that next slut over there who could use something sharp in her abdomen right about now.

I’d say it’s more that he wants to have people use the snap mode and unleash as much shocking things as he can.
