That's the fuck of it too. Like leaving just wouldn't be the best thing for him, it'd probably be healthy for Ralph. The less enablers he has the better if there is any possible road to recovering from his very severe alcohol problem. Gator is too afraid even during his "words" for Ralph to say that he needs to seek help and stop drinking forever.

If he believes what @adezero is saying about Ralph's drinking habits there is no cutting back anymore. I'm positive Ralph is to the point where he will probably need to see a doctor if he's taking that many pills and so dependent where he has to start his day with a drink. But I guess "Thats dumb!"

He's definitely to the point where he'd have to have rehab for either of them. Mixing those is a dangerous game, but the human body is shockingly resilient. If he quit now he'd live a relatively normal life, even with some mild liver scarring. Can't attest to how much he drinks, but I know multiple alchies that went as hard as they could until their 50s and bounced back to a completely normal life when they decided to quit with minimal side effects.

If he cold turkey'd, or potentially even tapered, he'd wind up with some major DTs that could potentially kill him though.
