I thought there was already an unofficial mandate given how stores are "encouraged" to make customers muzzled.

If this involves being forced to wear masks outdoors, within cars, or even in the privacy of our homes, he can eat shit.

Why do you want to kill grandma you science hating redneck retard tRUMP supporter? REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeEeeeeeEE

A little over halfway through, I had a vasovagal reaction. They, in turn, reacted with extreme concern (but also delight). They stopped the blood and brought an ice pack, my pulse and all that immediately returned to normal, they checked my blood sugar and it was good. I felt fine, other than the embarrassment. I wanted to continue but they booted me from the study.
Did they boot you over the vasovagal reaction? That sucks if so, especially since most vasovagal reactions can be resolved with something as simple as proper breathing and something to drink while the person regathers their wits.

Lotta silence from the supposed homeschooling advocates in the republican party.
That's a combination of politics -- the normies are realizing that they're gonna have to actually find babysitters for the little shits if they don't go back to school
Around my area, parents aren't happy with any of the school districts' decisions. So far, this has been true regardless of political party/stance.

Those that decided to start with online learning get screeched at by parents insisting their kids need in-person interaction with teachers and classmates.

Those that decided to start with in-person learning get screeched at by parents who believe sending their kids to school will be a death sentence the moment a single student contracts COVID-19 on campus.

Despite this, the same parents are letting their kids participate in band or sports practices where social distancing and other preventative protocols are being strictly enforced. Worse, some of these same parents are letting their kids participate in summer sports where the organizers care little about enforcing social distancing and other precautions. The worst has been tournaments that take the time to draft a COVID-19 policy consistent with state regulations only to turn a blind eye when participants completely ignore those provisions.

Parents don't have time to teach kids that anymore thanks to the fact that single-parent households are common and promoted and more than ever both parents have to work in two-parent households so won't have time to teach their kids.
In addition to the reasons already mentioned that pose challenges to homeschooling, there's also the facts that not every parent has the ability to teach what needs to be taught and learned, and that some states require a nominal level of education for anyone homeschooling children on any sort of long-term or permanent basis. My state, for example, requires homeschooling "instructors" to have a Bachelors Degree in any subject. However, it's easy to sidestep the requirement by simply saying you don't have a Bachelor's degree for religious reasons 🤷‍♂️. Nevertheless, some parents are willing to band together and create homeschooling groups -- formal or informal -- to see to it their kids get taught as best they can. It's just difficult to make it work on a large scale with so many adults working away from home during the day to support their households.

In other news, I opted to get a COVID test to make sure I hadn't contracted it asymptomatically. Thankfully, it came back negative.

Pretty much what they said:

Yes. I recovered almost immediately, as I guess most people do, but this was the most exciting thing they'd seen all week so everyone wanted to get involved. They spent more woman-hours hovering over me than doing actual study-related work. If I had known they were going to remove me, I would have cut my losses and walked out, but I was a good test subject and stayed until I was formally released.

Hm... I'm doing my morning news check and r/unemployment is loosing it over the lack of $600 for the last two weeks, and congress going home. They're talking about hopelessness, years of savings lost, riots, and picketing. I wonder if this is where the rubber meets the road on going back to work vs fear of the virus...

Antecdotal as hell, but the guy living across from my parents is getting a stupid amount of unemployment + welfare + $600 + bonus for having kids + etc. He's making over twice as much now than what he did doing a skilled trade before this. He does not want this to end at all, period, end of story.

I imagine a LOT of the lockdown bullshit is the result of similar sentiment. This accidentally incentivized people to shut down the economy and fast track a welfare state to the entire middle class and below. But since we no longer have a functioning government in the US, we can't fix the problem.

And this is how we get UBI.
Could be. But what's the solution? This whole thing is a trainwreck. The smartest people seem to be the ones who bought camper-vans as soon as lockdown started and are planning to travel and ride out the recession. If you're out of work, you either have to quickly and drastically reduce your cost of living, or burn through your savings.

Also this thread of problems teachers are seeing while online teaching is an eye-opener: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/i98of8/virtual_teachers_of_reddit_due_to_covid19_was_it/

This is how you get $15 gallons of milk.
True facts. I'm just waiting for the inevitable stagflation on this side of the pond, after all the money the government threw at everyone to stay home and get drunk. Fortunately I just refinanced my mortgage, so I get a nice near-zero interest rate for a couple of years while everything goes to shit.

I'm a grandfather and a Trump supporter. Biden can indeed eat shit. Not wearing a mask anywhere but inside a public building. Anyway, Joe and Da Ho won't be elected. Have the impression more non-Republicans hate them than hated
Hillary in 2016.

Some Reason articles.

Interesting how this point is being missed. QE injected an unfathomable amount into our banking system, yet banks did nothing with the money and it never entered circulation. This set of stimuli are entirely different. People and most businesses ARE spending the money. It seems inevitable it will lead to inflation.

I dunno, that is pretty high bar. Joe is demented but Hillary was a dyed-in-the-wool cunt and I have no idea how many more military quagmires we would be in if she got Her Turn. I most certainly did not vote for her because fuck her and the DNC. I am actually considering Trump this time around. I am no fan of Pence, but also fuck Biden and Harris. No third party candidate has arrived that interests me. Sigh...

FDA denies request from Henry Ford Hospital, in Detroit, to approve emergency use of hydroxychloroquine 'on a segment of patients “meeting very specific criteria”.'
The ruling does not affect Henry Ford's "ongoing randomized, double-blind study of hydroxychloroquine as a preventative treatment."

Michigan farmers sue Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) over her executive orders requiring mandatory testing of farm laborers on the grounds that it unfairly targets Latinos.
Some highlights:
“The order clearly targets the Latino community, and the state has been really clear that they’ve singled out this minority class,” said Allison Eicher, an attorney for the Michigan Farm Bureau in a statement. “No other group in the state is subject to mandatory testing for work except for nursing home workers.”
Eicher went on to point out that if nursing home workers choose to not be tested, they can still work, just not around patients. But if a farmworker doesn’t get tested, he or she cannot work until they provide a negative test.
...
The order requires all employers of migrant or seasonal workers with more than 20 employees on site at a time to test all workers. First, employers must test as a one-time baseline testing, then test all new workers prior to any in-person work, and finally test any worker with symptoms or exposure.
Migrant housing camps must also do a baseline test of all residents age 18 and over, test all new residents within 48 hours of arrival and quarantine new arrivals for 14 days, and test any resident with symptoms or exposure.

They keep telling us the number of cases. Very little on the number of deaths. I did some googling and quick math and came up with 0.05 percent of the population dead from, ostensibly, Covid. I really don't understand what the hysteria is all about. I will take precautions and stay home because I hate people and I have diminished lung capacity/CPLD, but making everyone do so is just stupid, imo. I am in agreement with the other commenters about how this was supposed to be "flattening the curve," and not overwhelming the health care system, but that came and went months ago. (In other news, still waiting for a determination on my UI, can't apply for Federal PUA UI until they deny my claim. It's been over three fucking months).

Right now the science for long haulers is showing that [COVID-19] doesn't care about your age
Except for all the statistical evidence that shows older people are almost exponentially more likely to suffer from COVID but okay whatever outliers = average I guess.

Okay TBF percentage of the population dead =/= percentage of the population that could die.

The real number to pay attention to, and the number the pro-lockdown bootlickers don't want you paying attention to, is how many people with COVID end up dying.

We're having that problem here in texas. They keep relying on cases
