I think blue city leaders are starting to think about these events with more clarity.

Before: "Haw haw, this makes Trump look bad and gets our guy as president. Go, democratic youth, go."

Now: "Holy shit, if this continues we all are just left on a pile of burning rubble. These people are insane and will do nothing but bring ruin. Even if Trump left today they would burn everything down."

The shift in police actions is getting more extreme. If these protests keep up and continued flight out of the cities occurs, eventually someone is going to break and demand the feds come in with full authority.
I think part of the change is that some of the democrats are starting to realize that the bulk of these idiots are true believers. I think the democrats themselves were initially seeing this whole thing as pretending to believe the cops are racist to give an excuse to riot (with the belief that the riots would hurt Trump), and they falsely assumed that their voter base was on the same page, and now they are starting to realize that the vast majority of the rioters actually believe the 'cops are racist' nonsense.

In regards to people counterprotesting - why bother right now? You have to have patience. Let them stew in their own putrid juices. You need not react, reacting is such a backfoot tactic.
Honestly I think it's only happening now because the normies are just realizing how bad things really are. Up until now, I'd say a lot of people were concerned, but believed that these were peaceful protests overall. They don't see the hundreds of anarcho punks that just wanna burn shit down hiding behind the niggos calling for justice. We're ahead of the curve cause we're cynical spergs who actively hunt for videos and tweets explicitly calling for violence.

I think one of the biggest red pills was when Big Floyd's arrest footage got leaked. I distinctly recall that there were quite a few tweets and vids of people who said they got lied to after seeing it.

Basically, normies are coming to realize what we've known since like week 2 of the riots.

How would riots hurt trump? These people are in lala land.
The left thinks moderates think like them. I remember in the early days of these riots a lefty coworker of mine unironically said that trump's making the riots worse by tweeting about them.
To any sane person "trump made a mean tweet, time to burn down our own community" is not a rational line of thinking. But to a leftist it is and they think sane people see it that way too.

I for one am looking forward to watching normies getting utterly destroyed by antifa and the law.

That's the down side of living in a bubble. They would have a better idea of what moderate thought if they would mingle with other groups.

Considering that America is literally locking children up in cages I don't think you have the right to whine about what other countries do.
Bitch that was so fake even CNN had to call it out as bullshit.

The cops are getting ruthless. It's nice to see.
It looked like at least one person was trying to use a trash can lid as a shield. That might seem fun or cool as a kid playing heroes/warriors with your friends, but it's hardly practical for anything beyond that -- as this person found out when the police quickly knocked the lid shield away like it was nothing.

Every single time, their sorry excuses for shield walls melt the second a riot cop even touches them.
It's not that surprising given these people think makeshift shields consisting of trash can lids, umbrellas, and other assorted junk will somehow keep the police at bay. Not only do they act like kids, they behave as if they have the same thought processes.

They turn on each other.
Infighting within any group tends to be entertaining (for us, anyways, if nobody else). Look at some of the recent Antifa tweets. Some are warning followers to avoid protesting in areas with increased police presence and enforcement. Others are tweeting back that they should instead double down on the protests there. The unified front these groups are trying to project is starting to show more cracks in its facade.

Better question is when will they start murdering each other due to internal power struggles?

That might not be as much of a good thing as you think. That sort of infighting applies a selection pressure in favor of the most aggressive and well armed factions. The most effective one on this front will come to dominate the face of the "revolution" and we'll see a lot less "bumbling idiots that are fun to laugh at" and more "literal insurgents that actually know how to use a gun."
That's what happened in Russia when they began to eat their own at least.

Everything has an upside and down side.
If an antifa warlord arises due to internal struggles then it would be a game changer.

For one they would be deemed a threat by their allies. May it be soros, the Democrats, wallstreet.

You would see them cease being supported by various institutions to being the target of them.

"An underappreciated failure mode of leftism is getting taken over by people who don't realize it's a scam, and keep trying to implement it better." -Nick Land. I think a lot of the doublethink displayed by the lefty leadership is just plain ol' thirst for power, and they're getting caught flat-footed by the fact that their shock troops actually believe what they've been saying for the last 50 years. Think about Chicago: it's one of the most entrenched blue cities on Earth, currently run by a black lesbian fishperson (how's that for the minority hat trick) and on getting bombarded with "ACAB! America is wayciss!" propaganda, they burn down the ghetto, the Magnificent Mile, and basically everything in between as opposed to (say) heading over to Oak Park or Smithville.
