Honestly I think it's fine and makes plenty of sense, but bitching about shit from the 90s when this was just a packaged product meant to sell toys and comparing it to this godawful "well, we want people to think about social distancing when watching their Chinese cartoons" and refusal to air a show because it has naked breasts and sexual content in it is so disingenuous it's baffling.

Maybe that's why they're doubling down on their piracy spiel, they're trying to justify why it is seeing Interspecies Reviewers should be illegal because they have the rights to it, but they're refusing to give it up and therefore deny people from watching it legally.

Hitomi is at track when she gets a vision of Van and faints. She wakes up in the nurse's office to see her crush by her side, and they have a bit of a talk where she shows off her pendant. Despite her best friend's orders, Hitomi wants to run again and do it properly this time, so they go out in the evening, and Hitomi gets the same vision again, but this time it's actually real, and she runs into Van who had found his way across dimensions to end up in her world with a real (and poor CGI) dragon. Van fights the dragon, and then slays it and gets out its heart. Hitomi, having been caught up in the action, ends up being swept away with him to his world while her best friend and crush watch helplessly (her crush tried to grab her hand, but the pendant he was holding onto for her slipped away instead) as she's sucked into the portal and finds herself on Gaia. (It's actually important we see her crush because he looks like Alan, and that's why Hitomi gets caught up in a love triangle.)

The first episode didn't air on Fox Kids because it would've given boys the "wrong idea" this was a girls' show. That's literally it. It's the exact same reason why it is Kids' WB aired Cardcaptors out of order.

EDIT: Might as well show this off, then. The Fox Kids' opening I think was done to show the abridgement of the first episode anyway to then lead into the second episode. But the show was pulled from Fox Kids' after about ten episodes because of low ratings, so yeah, American viewers had to get the DVD for the full story.

Cardcaptors got completely butchered in the US for some bizarre reason or another (episodes were legit spliced together and the plot was kinda changed to make it darker/edgier to make it appeal to a wider demographic). Hell, when they rereleased Card Captor Sakura on DVD as a box set decades later they used the other English dub of it that ended up being more faithful to the original story.

I'm actually still mad at NIS America for using the Animax dub instead of redubbing it when they were perfectly able to. I get it, cost-effective to just use the other one, but that's a horrendous dub and it keeps me from actually buying the Blu-Ray. I don't even really like the Japanese voices, either. Despite the all-star cast, Sakura was just too squeaky and is part of the reason why I've yet to watch Clear Card.

Weirdly enough, NIS America released the movies with their original dubs. I still have my original Pioneer copy of the first movie from all those years ago, so I'm just all like okay then.

I haven't touched Clear Card because Monica fucking sucks as Sakura (she was a shit choice in Tsubasa -but everyone sucked in that dub- and she just continues to reprise the role like she's good at it or something).

I like CCS. I like all Clamp series actually. But majority of the dubs for their shows suck
