I think this might happen, but more of extralegal justice. These riots (and more specifically, their enablers in DA offices, mayorships, legal defense networks, etc.) have done a great job at undermining faith in the judicial system on the right. If you can't trust the cops to arrest a rapist or murder, you either live life in fear or engage in shoot, shovel, shut-up. America's a big beautiful country, with fruited plains, purple mountains majesty, between two shining seas.
None are coming to mind now, but somebody in the vein of Buttigieg would have sufficed. It's a big party. I'm sure there was a congressman or senator with loyalty to the party and, I dunno, a Latino grandparent they could have rallied the troops around.
Gonna challenge you on identity politics here. You will never be able to get an effective leader from engaging in it, because it was never designed to be used as an effective tool for leadership. You will also never get any good plans from it, because it was never for good plans. It was designed to destroy, and that's all it does.
Idpol is a rusty mace painted pretty colors. It's nothing more than a glorified weapon, and that's all it can ever be. It's perfect for disrupting movements, because it's impossible to be pure enough for rules that shift and bend based on what's convenient. It taps into human tribalism, and makes it feel like if your demographic image is not in charge, you're being ignored. It destroys meritocracy, and prevents the best person from rising if they can't pass enough arbitrary, constantly changing goalposts. If you don't like an idea or a person or a plan, you no longer have to come up with criticism of the plan or idea, or justify an alternative candidate; you can just criticize the people who are doing something. Suddenly, the committee is wrong because it doesn't have enough blacks or women. Doesn't matter how efficient or competent the original was, it clearly was narrow minded so the new one will be better. Look at the DNC singer to see the fruits of intersectionality - a no-name liberace knock-off dancing in front of a green screened black amerikkka flag that looks like a watermelon, singing a song everyone was over 40 years ago about Vietnam (a war that was over before over half the country was even born). A billion dollar presidential campaign and hundreds of smaller ones, and that's what they played, because he fits the right progressive stack.
It also cuts both ways. Intersectionality has literally revived white nationalism and the legit alt-right more than a thousand dank holocaust memers. If everyone is teaming up, you need to or else you're at a bad disadvantage when it comes time to play.
The silver lining is that it's now being used within the warring democratic factions. It's too valuable of a tool to not use against your rivals - hell, it's literally how AOC took her predecessor's seat. He couldn't represent a hispanic area as a FUCKING WHITE MALE.
If the Democrats want a unifier, they need someone who will tell critical theorists to go to the back of the bus. Playing "I'm really a POC cause my great-grandmother was brownish" is literally the most cowardly and pathetic capitulation possible. It's how you get Elizabeth Warren claiming a 1/1,648th is somehow owning Trump.
