One Big Yikes moment from last night, night before, whenever was Jimmy Carter saying that Biden was already in the senate when he got elected president.

Biden and Kamala are so deeply Establishment, but the dems are trying to sell them like a vote for them is a blow against the power structure or some shit. Obama picked Biden for VP as a signal to the Establishment that he wasn't going to get too freaky with his policies. Kamala worked for Alan Cranston in college and dated Willie Brown before the ink on her JD from UC Berkeley was dry.

What the dems seem to miss here is that the blow against the Establishment was struck in 2016.

There are way too many boomers and pre-boomers in the democratic party. And by that I mean that they're incapable of seeing things outside the lens of the 1960s. And their way of thinking requires them to always think of themselves as the spunky upstarts and not The Man, even though the boomers have been in power for three decades. And even though the governing ethos of boomer rule has been an unholy amalgamation of Neoliberal and Neoconservative trash.

We voted for Change with Obama and we got 8 okay years where everyone kinda poked along and the Rust Belt got a bit rustier.

Then some of y'all voted for Change with Trump and we certainly got that and here we are now.

But like @Matthew216 said, going back to poking along is not a revolutionary act.

I know people that think we should be in lockdown until everyone gets the vaccine. We are potentially YEARS away from that. The best case scenario I've seen is one year, and that's unlikely.

I remember there being a lot of friction over it being taught about in schools and recall it showing up on TV a lot. It certainly was not as big a movement as other things but it was more than a few white people thinking it was an ancient Kenyan secret.
