I don't think anything in Chantal's life could or will ever be described as "healthy, happy, and magical".
At this point even if she lost 200 lbs she'd still be a miserable, obese slug. She's 300 lbs away from a healthy weight range and with her plethora of health issues, in my opinion, WLS is her only viable option for shedding some lard. Not that I have any faith in her to not fuck that up and kill herself on her inevitable "discharge mukbang".
Pretty much. She's so lost in the woods that just turning around is not going to get her out of it.
This is where, if it were any other person, I would feel sympathy for her. But because Chantal is an awful person, the only feeling I can muster is pity.
She's pushing 40 and she has nothing to show for it. Certainly there isn't financial security in her current situation. But worse, at this stage in life, most everyone is going to have their lives settled. They're either parents raising kids or people entrenched in their careers.
Most everyone Chantal's age has built sustaining relationships that will likely carry with them going forward. Even if they're not romantic. They're friends, family, partners, coworkers and even acquaintances you may see at a party or an event. She has none of that. She has no friends anymore outside Peetz, despite the fact she likes to pretend those girls from high school who take pity on her are her friends (they have grown up to do grown up stuff, like travel and vacation together). Her family struggles to tolerate her, and her sister can barely even do that. She has no relationship and certainly no prospects there, either. She has no fulfilling career.
At the end of the day, Chantal has no purpose. No one is counting on her for anything. Likely not even her grandma.
It's pitiful.
I guess she has Peetz. And frankly, that's more than nothing. But even Peetz being the cuck he is has to eventually realize how much an anchor Chantal is, if only in the emotional sense.
Then what?
I think what fascinates me about Chantal is the end game. Maybe even more than ALR.
