I'm a fan of the P2000SK myself (P30SK is newer and available to you if you're not in a ban state like I am) since I'm too much of a hipster for a Glock. Make sure you get it with a DAO LEM trigger unless you want to learn to shoot DA/SA, it has a long but light and smooth trigger pull and you can block the hammer with your thumb when reholstering. It is pricier because HK though and doesn't have much of an aftermarket if you care about that.

If its 9mm I suggest:

Smith and Wesson Shield:
Slim and easily concealed. Pretty accurate but I suggest replacing the trigger.

Glock 26:
Small CCW pistol. Wider than the Shield and has less capacity. Better trigger. You may have trouble getting your pinky fully on the grip.

Glock 19:
Medium sized pistol. Harder to conceal but is larger and is big enough to get a good grip. MUCH greater capacity than both.

Springfield EMP:
Small and about the size of a Sheild. Superb trigger and very accurate. Less capacity. The only down side is cost and off market parts.

My buddy swears by his Taurus g3c, cheap and reliable despite Taurus's unreliable history.

I've been thinking about picking up and every day carry pistol as well, besides the 9mm I'm also considering .38s. Maybe a Glock 42 or Ruger LCP II. I know my lazyass is more likly to carry if it isn't bulky.

Yeah they used to (and probably still do, actually) hold them at In Other Words, the former bookstore used for filming "Women and Women First" on Portlandia. The bookstore front finally went out of business (it had been sustained solely by gibs and money laundering for years) but the storefront is still used by various sketchball "community organizers" who are the same exact names.

And it's terrifying because Portland is a "transit friendly" city with lots of people, especially lower income, depending on the bus and MAX. All of which routes quite deliberately through a centralized bus mall where you have to go to transfer to get across town in many if not most cases. Edit to add: Saw some based Karens holding their own mini Recall Kate Brown rally in Beaverton by an abandoned Safeway while I was out picking something up for a friend today. It was only like 15 minutes from downtown and no one was bothering them.
