Timed scerarios? You're giving me horrific flashbacks to Superman 64!Obviously with a Superman game you would have:
-Cosmic Entities which can go toe-to-toe with Supes
-Timed or strategic scenarios where failing to meet the timer or successfully complete a puzzle results in a bad end. (for example, Superman has to fight his way through 3 booby trapped rooms within 5 minutes or Lois dies)
-De-powered fights involving kryptonite-wielding enemies
-strategic scenarios where the player has to carefully think through power use to avoid harming innocent bystanders or killing non-powered enemies
-non-Earth settings which allow Supes to go all out against his enemies (ex. Apokalypse)
Its not at all difficult to develop a good Superman game unless you're literally retarded.
I feel the problem with Superman as a video game concept is that you're giving the player a character who within lore is supposed to have godly power. Superman has footraces with The Flash after all and forget destroying buildings Superman can destroy Planets. Now if you give a player such abilities they want to also destroy, but Superman is suppose to be Jesus Christ-tier perfect. There will be top execs at DC screaming at you if they see a video of Superman just committing mass destruction for the fun of it. And they're not wrong because Superman has been an icon for generations and should be treated with respect.
You can play around with the character though, you can make a defacto Evil Superman as seen in the Injustice Games. But then it's not really Superman anymore is it? I'm interested in Rocksteady's new game because they've had years to work on it. I'm imagining Superman is going to be what forces the player to initially play very stealthy, if you create too much pandemonium in Gotham or Metropolis Superman is going to fly over and beat your ass. But eventually you'll get Kryptonite Weapons and a Superman tracking device to fight him off.
