"You're not taking the pandemic seriously!"
Are "influencers" and the media encouraging people to tell coronapanic skeptics of any personal cases to convince them of the alleged "IT'S THE NEW BUBONIC PLAGUE" level of seriousness?

I mean stuff like, "I know someone who was young and healthy, yet they died because of COVID-19! Please take this seriously! Wear a mask! Practice social distancing! Stay home and save lives!"

I remember living in Virginia and having summer days that were over a hundred, uncomfortably humid and no one batting an eye. And that's normal. I think ever Euro who doesn't understand why Americans love AC should have to spend a summer in the coastal South. Assuming they survive.

Given their observed levels of competence, anything coming out of India or involving Indians should be taken with the worlds big salt shaker full of the world's biggest salt. I wouldn't trust most of them with a hammer.
The costal south? Up here in the Great Lakes we have summers with heat indexes regularly 90-105 (that's 32-41 in Eurotrash). It gets hot and swampy just about everywhere east of the Mississippi and and south of NYC and Minneapolis. Oh and the entire Gulf coast.

Cut them some slack. No capeshit coming out this year and all the parks/fancy restaurants are closed, so they have to desperately cling to panic porn as a lifeline for relevance.

I'm in SW Ohio, so we've had plenty of similar days in the summer, although it's been mildish for August. Not like you can predict Cincinnati weather. I was just thinking of a place consistantly hot and humid, it's the only way to teach the Europoors.

I was mostly posting for Euros. I know we have at least a few here

Gonna PL a little but fuck it, I'm Ohioan too. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that you can potentially have nearly every type of weather here in the span of a week.

The difference is in the coastal South is that we were having those heat indexes back in early April and they will probably last to almost Halloween.

Not only that, many people (especially the vulnerable and old people) will literally die if they're in certain parts of the U.S. with no air conditioning. Even assuming the whole premise is true, you're essentially sacrificing the lives of the exact same people you'd theoretically be protecting, and leaving them uncomfortable and suffering to boot.

Exactly. It's increasingly becoming clear how the supposed 'cure' for this virus - nothing actually medical, but the weird and inhumane social expectations - to lose jobs, whole industries and livelihoods, to kill all sense of purpose, become horrendously socially isolated, all this stuff that increases stress, depression, exacerbates existing mental health issues, is killing people, or is going to over the long term. I place the BLM riots and subsequent deaths and destruction of livellihoods squarely at the foot of the lockdown culture. People, young, angry, or dodgy people with nothing to do, not obliged to be anywhere or to do aything, whether it be in school or a job, had nothing better to do than spend night after night 'protesting'. Criminals released from prison and going straight on crime sprees lest the poor dears get coofed on in their cells. Tell me the riots would have got to the level they did, without being prefaced by months upon months of forced indolence and isolation and massively stupid policy like the latter.

The draconian police crackdowns even have a body count. The cops in Peru raided some 'illegal' party the other night and 13 people died in the crush to escape them. 13 people dead for no real reason. People who probably wouldn't have died of the coof even if they had it. Killing folks to save them from le coof. It's a level of insanity it's hard to imagine anyone supporting but people are, and it horrifies me.

In other news, at least one of my local theaters is scheduled to reopen this week. I've always been an avid moviegoer, even if a lot of what Hollywood puts out is drek (it's mostly how my best friend and I bond since there's not too much else to do besides browsing bookstores). I plan on going as soon as possible, Wu Flu be damned. I haven't seen a movie on the big screen in six months, and I'm gonna support my theaters as much as I'm able because I'd hate for any of them to shut down over this nonsense.

Right with you, mate. The idea that cinema should die at the hands of this panic-demic is horrifying. I'm booked in for opening night too. Keep seeing mongs cheering Disney+ for putting films on VOD for $30 instead, saying it's 'the future' and cinemas have no purpose anymore as they're 'unsafe'. Idiots saying 'people like you' (ie people whi intend to be cinemagoers again) will be 'responsible' for le coof 'never going away'. I can't think of a much safer public building to be in, sitting quietly spaced apart, no yapping, watching a film for a couple of hours. And le coof will be with us like all other diseases we don't shut down society over.

Remember SARS-1. MERS? Swine flu? All nasty diseases and I recall the 2009 outbreak of swine flu being particularly nasty, knocking off pregnant women in particular. The government here got quite exercised over it, but there was never any indication society should be shut down to 'save lives'. What changed? Why the insanity over COVID-19 and not the others, equally nasty corona viruses?

These "experts" can go suck a fart out of my ass, no one will be desperate enough to give up their ACs during Summer.

Between this bullshit and the "encouragement" to wear masks outdoors while working, I'm starting to think these dipshits want a spike in heat strokes and other heat related illnesses. Are they really too stupid to realize that shit is easily capable of killing many people?
Heat strokes already killed plenty of people in Japan and they said masks "might have something to do with it." I wonder what the deaths/hospitalization from heat strokes and heat-related illness is this year compared to normal?

As long as you aren't seeing a Tyler Perry movie or Black Panther 2 that is.

Indeed. Just did a bunch of errands in the summer heat and at one point genuinely felt woozy from constantly having to breath back in my own hot exhalation. It's not just an inconvenience, it can be outright fucking dangerous, especially for those who already have breathing issues.

At any rate, I saw every store with signs saying "You MUST wear a mask to enter!" and it's like, oh my God, this is a test run for some real Mark of the Beast shit, isn't it. "They will only be able to buy or sell if they bear the Mark."

I didn't think it'd be possible this soon but with how swiftly and effectively they got the populace to just go along with this then they are fully willing to be forced into far more invasive shit just to walk into a fucking store down the line. Complying with the masks was a test on public subservience to authoritarian power grabbing, and the test passed with fucking flying colors.

Or maybe that's my pessimism ranting off again and people will finally have enough of this garbage by next year...
Yeah i hate that wear a mask signs. I remember when it wasn't mandatory to wear them in buildings even when this started. I'm not sure if quickly would be the word since I feel like the public was threatened with fines and arrest if we didn't abide by it which is why i see people wear it everywhere. Like I've been saying, I'd imagine there's a really big portion of people that's against this, they just don't know what to do because they're scared of having their lifes ruined.

Well, Japan's heatwave last summer killed off a few people all right: 57 dead, 18,000 hospitalized. Japanese are well used to heat + humidity too. Summer there is like breathing soup generally and most apartments do have AC.

We have had experience in Europe of how many elderly cack it in extreme heat when AC isn't common in houses because generally, nobody needs it:

2003 European heatwave: 35,000 deaths (nearly 15,000 of them in France alone). Note the article remarks that the death toll is '19 times that of the global SARS-1 outbreak'.

2019 heatwave France (temps up to 46C in Paris): 1435 deaths

Extreme heat kills off exactly the same group as already vulnerable to COVID-19; the old and sick. Suggesting we deny people AC to save them from a tiny possibility it may dry their mucus membranes, making them slightly more vulnerable o acquiring the virus if it's even around, is throwing not just the baby, and the bathtub, but the whole fucking nursery out with the bathwater. It's scientifically myopic to a disturbing degree but then so are a lot of the 'solutions' to not spreading the virus. It's like the entire medical community has forgotten that humans die of other things but this new Chinese virus.

Like i said, the common response i see is because corona is unknown and there's more cases for it. I really can't wait for this shitshow to end so i can see people burn their masks. I can only imagine hearing horror stories of people having trouble breathing because of the masks blocking their airway and getting socially crucified for wanting to get fresh air.

Speaking of masks karens, i remember seeing a video of this couple chastising a guy for not wearing a mask. The wife/girlfriend splashed coffee on him and what happened was that the couple got their shit kicked in for it.

Here's the video:

Fucking Galaxy-Brained take right there!
The whole discussion is about studies that use said test as a measure of how many people contracted the virus retard.

I don't claim to know, or even think one way or the other, but its certainly a realistic possibility
The viruses aren't related in the same way Cowpox and Smallpox are, they are 99% similar, the similarities between 229E, OC43 and SARS-CoV2 are no where near as close, there's evidence Smallpox and Cowpox evolved from the same ancestors.
Its certainly possible, and if we are to believe the other two betacoronavirus species are close enough to COVID-19 to trick an antibody test then its not far-fetched to entertain the idea that these other betacoronavirus antibodies might transfer some level of immunity/resistance to their close cousin.
Or maybe it just means tests are flawed?

The 5,000 IQ take that no antibodies = no resistance
I didn't propose this.
As far as "muh reinfection" goes, I (among others) have provided sources time and time again debunking that angle. Simple case math can tell us that out of over 14 million recovered cases worldwide we have a handful of "well maybe it was a reinfection", that its clearly not very possible and likely statistically insignificant even in extremely rare cases where it does happen (i.e. someone with an immune disorder where their body actually does fail to produce antibodies, T-cells forget, etc.)
I wasn't claiming that reinfection was likely, just that we don't even have solid evidence about it yet due to it being a new virus so the idea of evidence of 299E and OC43 giving antibodies to fight is evidenceless.

Alright, this all gotten a bit silly.

Cool, now we can watch musicians pass out on stage from blowing into an instrument with something covering their nose so they struggle breathing!
But for real this just proves the mask shit is all for show. Honk honk...

For fuck's sake this is beyond stupid. Do you know what goes though instruments that requires blown air? SPIT, aka water droplets, aka the main thing these fearmongers use to force this mask bullshit because it spreads through them. Therefore the holes in these things completely defeats the alleged reason for having to wear them in the first place. Un-fucking-believable.

A mask with a hole to play an instrument is about as useful as a condom made out of a see-through mesh.

They might as well not wear the damn things, it's about the same level of "protection" and will help them breath easier.
