Exactly. It's increasingly becoming clear how the supposed 'cure' for this virus - nothing actually medical, but the weird and inhumane social expectations - to lose jobs, whole industries and livelihoods, to kill all sense of purpose, become horrendously socially isolated, all this stuff that increases stress, depression, exacerbates existing mental health issues, is killing people, or is going to over the long term. I place the BLM riots and subsequent deaths and destruction of livellihoods squarely at the foot of the lockdown culture. People, young, angry, or dodgy people with nothing to do, not obliged to be anywhere or to do aything, whether it be in school or a job, had nothing better to do than spend night after night 'protesting'. Criminals released from prison and going straight on crime sprees lest the poor dears get coofed on in their cells. Tell me the riots would have got to the level they did, without being prefaced by months upon months of forced indolence and isolation and massively stupid policy like the latter.
The draconian police crackdowns even have a body count. The cops in Peru raided some 'illegal' party the other night and 13 people died in the crush to escape them. 13 people dead for no real reason. People who probably wouldn't have died of the coof even if they had it. Killing folks to save them from le coof. It's a level of insanity it's hard to imagine anyone supporting but people are, and it horrifies me.
Right with you, mate. The idea that cinema should die at the hands of this panic-demic is horrifying. I'm booked in for opening night too. Keep seeing mongs cheering Disney+ for putting films on VOD for $30 instead, saying it's 'the future' and cinemas have no purpose anymore as they're 'unsafe'. Idiots saying 'people like you' (ie people whi intend to be cinemagoers again) will be 'responsible' for le coof 'never going away'. I can't think of a much safer public building to be in, sitting quietly spaced apart, no yapping, watching a film for a couple of hours. And le coof will be with us like all other diseases we don't shut down society over.
Remember SARS-1. MERS? Swine flu? All nasty diseases and I recall the 2009 outbreak of swine flu being particularly nasty, knocking off pregnant women in particular. The government here got quite exercised over it, but there was never any indication society should be shut down to 'save lives'. What changed? Why the insanity over COVID-19 and not the others, equally nasty corona viruses?
