Trump Derangement Syndrome - Orange man bad. Read the OP! (ᴛʜɪs ᴛʜʀᴇᴀᴅ ɪs ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴋɪᴡɪ ғᴀʀᴍs ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡs ɴᴏᴡ) 🗿🗿🗿🗿

While College is a good thing, it should not be held as the basis for intelligence by having a degree given it's expensive and people can make a living without one.

People who graduate college are educated, not intelligent.

30+ years everyone has been moaning about the sorry state of American education, calling it a failure, with garbage curriculum and laughable majors in colleges. Then suddenly the generations who passed through that shitty system are voting for The Right Side Of History, so it's time to pretend they're all super-smart people who totally know what they're talking about.

It's Gell-Mann Amnesia applied to entire social classes. It's honestly kind of amazing to see the stupidity laid out like that.

The numbers should be listed as White Collar workers vs Blue Collar workers. Because that's probably what they represent.

People seem to forget interest.

White collar people want free trade with Asia, and immigration.

"WHO WILL BE THE SERVANTS!?!?!?" Revolution? As long as it isn't in my private neighborhood"

Blue collar workers have firmly rejected neoliberalism and want an immigration system similar to that of Harpers in Canada - a focus on needed professionals.

"THEY TOOK UR JERBS" Riots? They're burning down our businesses!!!!"

"You know, trolling doesn't work if you tell them ahead of time that you're trolling."
"Hold my Diet Coke."

Edit: just to drive home the point of how stupid it is, watch the actual video. It wasn't even a sustained chant, it was like 3 people who shouted it out to complete the joke, and he moved on.

I've said it before in this very thread but it's worth repeating since that's a particularly blatant example of it: leftists are all about decrying classism and checking their privilege, and yet watch them consistently, gleefully, and sincerely attack people who are too poor or too busy or too focused on working with their hands or in service industries to get a college degree. They're literally a bunch of smug bougies shitting all over the common folk, and doing it on behalf of other smug rich bougies like celebrities and politicians.

They've morphed from the leisure class into the luxury beliefs class.

A key idea is that because we can’t be certain of the financial standing of other people, a good way to size up their means is to see whether they can afford to waste money on goods and leisure. This explains why status symbols are so often difficult to obtain and costly to purchase. These include goods such as delicate and restrictive clothing like tuxedos and evening gowns, or expensive and time-consuming hobbies like golf or beagling.

Such goods and leisurely activities could only be purchased or performed by those who did not live the life of a manual laborer and could spend time learning something with no practical utility... Veblen proposed that the wealthy flaunt these symbols not because they are useful, but because they are so pricey or wasteful that only the wealthy can afford them, which is why they’re high-status indicators.

...
But top universities are also crucial for induction into the luxury belief class. Take vocabulary. Your typical middle-class American could not tell you what “heteronormative” or “cisgender” means. But if you visit Harvard, you’ll find plenty of rich 19-year-olds who will eagerly explain them to you. When someone uses the phrase “cultural appropriation,” what they are really saying is “I was educated at a top college.”

Consider the Veblen quote, “Refined tastes, manners, habits of life are a useful evidence of gentility, because good breeding requires time, application and expense, and can therefore not be compassed by those whose time and energy are taken up with work.” Only the affluent can afford to learn strange vocabulary because ordinary people have real problems to worry about.

The chief purpose of luxury beliefs is to indicate evidence of the believer’s social class and education. Only academics educated at elite institutions could have conjured up a coherent and reasonable-sounding argument for why parents should not be allowed to raise their kids, and should hold baby lotteries instead.

When an affluent person advocates for drug legalization, or anti-vaccination policies, or open borders, or loose sexual norms, or uses the term “white privilege,” they are engaging in a status display. They are trying to tell you, “I am a member of the upper class.”

Spare the rod, spoil the millenial.

It's a good analysis, though I think he leaves religion out of the mix. In previous generations, if you weren't wealthy, you could still achieve social status through piety and showy displays of righteousness. It's a different kind of status, but still easily recognized in most societies.

Now, in a world where religion is diminished and its moral authority is not recognized, there are few opportunities to demonstrate righteousness that your peers would acknowledge. So ideology and politics have begun filling in that role.

Social Justice is the addictive combination of the two status signifiers: it shows off both your elite class membership and your "piety", at the same time, for little or no cost to those who take it up.

And, most conveniently for certain political parties, it also gives you new "devils" to target and defeat, such as Orange Man Bad and his legion of demons regular Republican voters. That dynamic is what turns the newly defined "lower class" of non-college educated voters into enemies who need to be defeated, instead of fellow Americans whose concerns should be addressed.

So it gets even better. Not only, in this myth, do the Black people lock people in cold European "prison caves" because of their skin colour, but the reason Yakub made the White people in the first place was because all of the Black people bullied him for having a big brain. Jesus - who created this mythology? Joseph Goebbels?
"Your race was created by a super-genius who we ostracized for his intelligence, and bred as the ultimate destroyers of civilization capable of overcoming any obstacle in your path to dominance.
This is why you're inferior."

TBF I wouldn't call a lot of college grads "white collar".
Many are working jobs like drug store clerks, waiters and baristas with a degree that's either worthless from the get-go (liberal arts, social "sciences", sports communications, etc.) or with one that might not be worthless if not for the over-saturation of Bacheleor's degrees on the market.

Most of these people are the type who think Uncle Boiney can wave his magic wand and make everyone debt free

Can these people choose a different dictator to compare Trump to? The Hitler comparison is overplayed.
Except hitler was making moves towards being a dictator as soon as he came to power. He didn't wait a ful election cycle to then decide to go full fascist.

Trump is an absolutely awful Hitler. Here's a little breakdown of Hitlers rise to power: In January of 1933 Hitler was sworn in as Chancellor, in February of 1933 the Reichstag caught fire, in March of 1933 Hitler had Parliament pass the Enabling Act which effectively gave Hitler unlimited power. By May of 1933 Hitler forced all trade unions to dissolve. By July of 1933 Hitler had essentially banned all other political parties in Germany, leaving Germany solidly in the hands of the Nazis in all areas of government. Skipping forward a year from June 30th to July 2nd of 1934 Hitler carried out the Night of the Long Knives. In August of 1934 President Hindenburg died and the office of President was abolished by Hitler. The transition to total control of Germany was now complete.

Trump has been in office since January 20th, 2017. So far he hasn't killed or imprisoned his political rivals, burned down Congress, or even gotten a law passed to give him absolute power over the government. Hitler accomplished his goals in roughly a year or year and a half. Trump is simply absolutely awful at being a dictator compared to how quickly Hitler was able to take over Germany.

Do they really want to be pointing this out? because the left has hit all of these points in the past 8 months.
Rules for Radicals. Project your actions onto the enemy, act as if they are the ones doing it.

Only point that doesn't match is 6 because they aren't in control of that but they had been trying rule via judicial order.
