What do you think is the stupidest coronapanic measure?

- Face masks?
- "Social distancing"?
- Those sneeze guard screens?
- Groups limited to 10 or less?
- Or something else?
I mean, out of everything, I'd say shutting down the country and tanking the economy and quarantining healthy people to "protect" the people at risk of dying who died anyway, and are still dying, because this shit is obviously not working.

In lighter news, since we're supposed to "trust the science", the CDC no longer recommends asymptomatic testing, even if you've been recently exposed.
All this bullshit started because they were so fucking sure that asymptomatic people are spreading COVID like wildfire and killing everyone's grandmas. Hell, for a while, I was seeing articles about "experts" claiming that asymptomatic people could be more virulent and contagious. Then there was that little WHO press conference that they tried to keep quiet where they basically admitted that asymptomatic people... are not.

The libs were just making fun of Trump for saying if you don't test, cases will go down. And as soon as they backtracked and said, oh you don't need a test if you don't have symptoms, suddenly like magic cases start going down, and people are now going, "See? The lockdowns are working! Masks are working! We're doing such a great job!" Some places like my city were claiming they're scaling back testing because there's a shortage of tests (again?). I wonder if that's true.

The shutdown keeps getting extended over and over. I feel trapped, the border is closed so I can't drive back to the lower 48 to visit family, and for flying they are no longer allowing mask medical exemptions with no end in site. Can't meet people during a shutdown. I feel like a prisoner, only at least they know when their release date is.

Not to power level but family member was just in AK (I think that's where you are) They are in the airline world and everything is flying normal so... maybe try again?

I would be pissed, but at the same time...you're right. Still it's gonna make people not trust the government even more and they'd better not be surprised if people get defiant if something like this happens again in the future.

Honestly, ASSUMING the left didnt plan for this whole pandemic (which is a big possibility but I digress), they are trying to keep this going as much as they possibly can. Basically they cause the problem to get worst, respond far too late, act cartoonishly incompetent and corrupt and when the problem resolves itself, they take all credit for it. Vote for them now, plz...!

In just 6 months, not wearing a stupid face mask has pretty much become just as taboo as not wearing clothes.

Dude, while Im at the bank I think people would react worse if I removed my mask than if I pulled out a pistol

About grandmas...mine is 89 with lung cancer and severe chf. She was diagnosed with the beer bat AIDS about 2 months ago. She was forced into solitary confinement. Her mind is not all there and she would call my mother in terror that the imprisoned her and this was how she would die: scared and alone. Spoiler: She is still alive.

I had said " and for flying they are no longer allowing mask medical exemptions with no end in site ". Are they allowing passengers to fly without a mask now?

DeWine in Ohio did that about a week or two after his statewide mask mandate he started reducing testing with claims they were short on tests. And then he took three the same day when Trump rolled in. Same in Kentucky.

DeWine's been trying to get SW Ohio to stay in the red, almost all of his free testing has been down here and the numbers kept dropping anyways. Now Cuyahuga County (Cleveland) dropped out of Red status on his Color Coded Bullshit map last week and he's sending some free test sites up to them, I'm assuming to get the numbers back up. Just like he just last week made an order to test everyone in Nursing Homes after months of ignoring them as 2/3s of our deaths happened in them.

I still don't wear a face mask outside, just to go into public buildings. Nobody says anything to me, and I don't expect them to. Had a doctor's appointment this morning. While we both wore masks, he gave me a fist bump with an ungloved hand. 👍 Was in a Dollar Tree store later this morning, and saw an older lady without a mask. I didn't say anything. Just don't care.

Couple of stories from Reason.

The latest long-term effect I've seen touted this morning on the news is chronic fatigue. It's going to be fun to see how disability claims spike in the next few years from all of these conditions they say are covid-related.

Pretty soon "they" will be claiming yet another effect of the ChiCom Flu - everything you eat turns to shit. Wouldn't put it past them.

It's genuinely feeling like one giant plot to mentally destroy an entire population. All of this social distancing, limitations to small crowds of people in any one place, the dumb screens, being unable to see family, the constant masks so you can't see faces (a lot of human interaction is through reading facial expression), all of this serving to completely alienate our natural goddamn instinct to gather and socialize. Even I as a stay-at-home introvert understand how vitally important being around your fellow man is, we quite literally need it to function properly as a species.

And the results of what happens when you don't allow that have already been ongoing since the end of fucking May.

Also shutting down places of personal care like gyms, hair and nail salons, barbers, spas, et cetera, places that have legitimate health benefits or positive effects on stress and mental health, keeping them closed longer than fucking restaurants and bars, and threatening those who dare to operate with fines and jail time, deriding those who want them open as selfish and vain.

Not to worry. For every measure there is a countermeasure. Can't see family in person? Use an app. Got phones, right? Got emails, correct? Can't see the face? Look at the eyes - they can tell far more than the rest of the face. When I see people smiling often look at the eyes. Sometimes they tell the real story, which might not be pretty.

Can't gather in the usual places? Maybe you can gather in different places. You can gather at places like KF. A lot of people do this even during "normal" times.

"They" can only "mentally destroy" you if you let them. I say, fuck that and fuck "them". Once you see through "their" bullshit, it's easy to stay patient and do workarounds. Remember, the emperor has no clothes. "They" fear us. ALL they have are law enforcement weapons to back up their oppressive measures. "They" lost credibility months ago, and "they" have never held the moral high ground, for what it's worth. Believe "they" know they are running out of time. At this rate, it won't be long before there's widespread civil disobedience, and possibly violence. I fear the seeds of anger "they" have so diligently planted these past months could bear very poisonous fruit.

Saddest thing to me are the people who commit suicide due to this house arrest. Some people have actually done this. For whatever reason, they could not or would not look past this house arrest as the cruel joke it really is. There have been many, many people in actual solitary confinement for extended periods, without any access to phones, TV, computers, etc., who make it through without going nuts. They took it one day at at time. They never broke. And when out of solitary confinement they realized that now "they" had one less weapon to use against them. The body can be confined, but not only cannot you confine the mind, you cannot confine an idea. Nothing "they" can do about what I have written here. Can't keep me from writing. But worse for "them", they cannot keep me - or you, or anyone, from thinking, and perhaps planning.

Would also say the "mental destruction" works both ways. Am very glad I am not certain governors and certain mayors. Believe they can almost reach out and touch the hate their tyrannical behavior has engendered. It's not out of the question that some of these people may be fearing for their lives, they have stirred up so much anger and hatred. But they don't have the guts - yet - to call it a day and back down from their oppressive measures.

A quote, slightly paraphrased from Jonathan Edwards - "they can't even run their own lives, I'll be damned if they'll run mine!"

One day, this will end. All bad times end. The economic damage will be the easiest to fix. The "interactional damage" shouldn't be too hard to fix - just grow a pair and lose the fear. Believe the damage that will take the longest and be the most difficult to fix will be the broken trust, utter loss of confidence in, and the withdrawal, at least unspoken, of the consent to "them" governing.

The biggest joke of this time is the saying "We're all in this together." It is clear that we have never been all in this together, and never will be all in this together. Been saying this since January, I believe. Jesus. It's been "us" versus "them" from the start. Just because you wear a mask doesn't mean you can't or don't despise "them". Just means you are not yet ready to take direct action. Very understandable.

Believe the next time there's a major crisis in this country, when "they" appeal for assistance/support/help, people will remember how "they" fucked over hundreds of millions of Americans, and ignore anything "they" say. The people just won't care, unless directly affected. Only natural. Then "they", through "their" media, will whine that Americans aren't responding. Tough shit, brought it on themselves.

George Carlin put it this way..."I don't take no shit because I don't give a shit. If I gave a shit, I'd have to pack shit. But I don't take no shit because I don't give a shit." When you don't give a shit, "they" cannot do you any lasting harm, and you can handle "their" pettiness.

So relax. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed to any of us. So why let "them" rent space in your head? Uncle Joe says, "they" can go EAT ME! 👍

Forcing people to wear masks while driving cars.
This i might understand in a carpool of unrelated people. With family members from the same household or solo, I'd disagree.

We've done it twice now and it really sucks. I'm about maxed out with all of this.
The only times I've worn a mask inside the car is if I've left someplace that requires it and forget to lower it down on the way to my next destination. Even for people without breathing issues, it still gets difficult to breathe in one after an extended period of time.

2. What part of "strategic reserve" is difficult for you to understand?
People today have no concept of saving anything: money, groceries, staples, emergency supplies, etc. It's all about consuming as soon as possible and leaving as little behind as possible. That said, there's a certain irony that these same people criticized the lack of a reserve supply when the outbreak was at its worst. Now that we have a reserve supply, they're still not happy. :story:

Sorry to drop the red pill but most of these lawsuits are either going to get dropped by the judges or be lost in the long biased bureocratic machine that is the courts.
Michigan's Governor Whitmer has had her indefinite executive orders challenged and the court has consistently dismissed the lawsuits or ruled in her favor. There's irony in the Democrats bouncing and squeaking every time Trump signs an executive order they dislike while Whitmer -- a Democrat -- turns around and write similar state-level executive orders while citing a state law giving her unchecked emergency authority. The other part of this is that she doesn't want to work with the Republicans who control both branches of the state legislature despite her promise to be bipartisan as our governor.

What has been everyone’s favorite fake piece of COVID information?
How the media hyped information about COVID-19 early on only to have experts learn what they originally thought was true -- and what the media overhyped -- wasn't true once they had time to study the virus in more detail. Instead of retracting their original statements, though, the media instead doubled down on the hype to further a state of fear, uncertainty, and doubt.

What has been everyone’s favorite fake piece of COVID information?

Mine was COVID spreading by farts. Followed by it somehow lasting for 3 days magically on surfaces and still being viable.

"Well I found covid on these rattlesnake coral snake eggs and mother must have gotten sick and died somewhere."

*gets bit*

Yeah covid being detected in random fruit and wild animals that don't seem to care was a bit overboard.
