I used to get really excited when new consoles came out, going as far as marking my calendar to count down the days before the 3DS launch. Now I haven't even fucking bothered to look up anything about the PS5. Is this growing up?

Yes. I was hyped for every release from the NES era up until the 360/Wii/PS3. So far I have played a PS4 once, never touched the Xbox. Not to ignore them, I just thought I would get around to getting one one day and now the next-gen is out in a couple of months.

Just wait until you get older and wake up only to realize that without prior notice and with no invitation winter is staying with you for a while.

So far, I’m finally getting around to make up for procrastinating on the promises I made for not getting the Hitman, Wolfenstein and Devil May Cry series earlier this year. I’m also planning to get the Batman games that were made for the PS3/X360 consoles soon.

If anything, I’ve found it’s the opposite. It actually teaches you to be much more appreciative of the older PC/console games that came before. I don’t tire of it, but I do notice that the newer generation of games are just used for marketing quotas, where the actual gaming is just put on the back burner.

Rest in Piss En Masse

En Masse Entertainment is shutting down after more than a decade of publishing games.

The Seattle-based firm announced its closure via the Facebook page for Tera, the popular MMO it was responsible for publishing.

The company's statement suggests its games may continue to operate, although more detail will be offered in the coming weeks.

"Today, it is with a heavy heart that we begin the process of discontinuing the business of En Masse Entertainment," the company wrote.

"Our focus in the coming weeks and months will be on our team, helping them to find new opportunities, and on our games, to ensure a seamless transition for [players]."

In addition to Tera, En Masse was also known for publishing Stranger Things 3 and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.

The company was founded more than 11 years ago, originally as Bluehole Interactive, owned by Bluehole -- the company behind PUBG.

When Bluehole formed Krafton Game Union, En Masse became a subsidiary of the new company, alongside PUBG Corporation.

dunno much about En Masse beyond the community managers being assholes, but I know a lot of people used to like Tera until they made it dog shit.

Flight Simulator is out and apparently is the highest rated game of the year according to the media, which surprises me.

Excited, the last MS Flight Sim game was back in 2007 I believe. These games aren't "fun" in the traditional sense but what they are is effectively the perfect flight simulator, the apex of their genre and being such I can see why it's one of the highest rated games of the year. I'm positive nothing else is going to launch in a more complete, bug-free state than this and as a bonus it'll be supported for decades.

Wait, the Jim Henson tactics game actually game out? I remember seeing the trailer and thinking it looked cool, I assumed it never launched. En Masse definitely didn't put any kind of marketing behind it.

I am the same and I believe I'm done with consoles and have been for the past 7 years. Instead I just play games older than I am that are new to me and it's pretty great and super cheap.
Plus I have enough games to last me a lifetime now so I'm not really in a rush for new ones.

This is because modern AAA gaming caters exclusively to bland and inoffensive games most people can enjoy a little bit of. Innovation and making a game out of a cool idea has been all but wiped out except for a few outliers. We're going to get asscreeded, farcryed and arena shootered into oblivion.

E: For content, how in the world is a game like horizon zero dawn drowning in accolades?

wello, i sure hope that gamers don't "fix" battletoads by making every toad it's own pepe (with more added frames than the devs even added perhaps). And bonus is the queen can be w/e waifu you choose. They probably already thought about this on 4chan, but just saying it now. The game is soggy trash by design, but the template for a complete memetactular is all there laid out. There has never been a subject more rife with opportunity for manipulation than this shitty game created by the most lackluster, retarded, and self righteous morons.

Soooooooooo yea... don't play the new Battletoads game.

IDK if this is in the spirit of the thread, but hope so.

I got the old Tom Clancy strategy game 'Endwar' for the PC. I'd had it back when it was brand new on console, its whole gimmick was a 'voice command' system that was really finicky and hardly worked. It's pretty barebones, but the unit designs and the flavor of the game's universe make it pretty interesting, and the gameplay's not too terrible. It's only 9.99 if you ever wanna give it a shot.

I can't believe how awful those Battletoads cutscenes look, oh my lord. It's like a shitty flash cartoon from the early 2000's - why did they think this would be a good approach for a Battletoads game? "Garbage butt backing up"? Who is this aimed at?

Played Superhot a few days ago. Was overall pretty easy, but the (game-time) speedrun challenges were a little more difficult.

This was the hardest one for me, took about 15 minutes to figure out the optimal route and another couple to nail it:

What the fuck was that Gamescom stream

Technical issues galore making half of what they said an incomprehensible stutter and constant reminders about FALL GUYS SEASON TWO
