My friend has decided that laughing at Chris Chan is not okay anymore. That it's wrong to laugh at someone who does not have the mental capacity to defend himself..

Chris' mental capacity hasn't changed significantly for the worse, it has more or less stayed the same since he was discovered. If your friend thinks it's not okay to laugh at people that lolcows tend to be then okay, that's their opinion this stuff isn't for everyone. However, Chris isn't like some hopeless mongoloid, there's a reason why this site doesn't mock actually mentally handicapped people but we laugh at Chris : Chris seems most of the time retarded to us all, and his actions are, but Chris can ignore trolls, Chris can make decent decisions in his life, but he chooses not to because he's arrogant/lazy/stupid. While Chris' trolling has been far from benign, Chris has gotten some actually solid advice from people pretending to be his friends but he ignores it all because he's so bull-headed.

PVCC is a discussion forum for a specific group of people. It really doesn't have anything to do with Chris, so it was closed to keep people interested in Chris from joining.

Edit: Chris sucks at socializing because he doesn't care to police himself that strictly. But he's pretty good at policing himself with the proper motivations. He just doesn't like to, and he won't do it if he doesn't need to.

People often forget that Chris HAD a job. He worked at Wendys for 2-3 months. He did get fired for scaring a child or whatever, but I think what's key here is he didn't get fired for not being able to perform. If he had a job with minimal or no customer interaction he'd be able to perform. Something repetitive like overnight stocker at food lion would be perfect for him.

The Social Security Administration requires objective medical evidence to grant disability, especially the permanent sort that is only reviewed at long intervals. While some people commit fraud and game the system (hi Phil), I do not believe Chris is one of these people.

I don't think Chris is committing fraud, but mental disabilities are a lot softer than physical disabilities. There's a lot more room to debate the specifics, and ultimately someone will need to make a judgement call. I'm guessing the SSA got a diagnosis of autism from a professional, had their guys look over it, and since autism can't really be cured, they approved Chris. I don't claim to know that Chris could sustain a full time job, necessarily, but Chris could definitely sustain a part time job.

Oh, she definitely wouldn't make Chris work as things are now. I mean, when it doesn't affect her, she definitely likes Chris to be happy.

I'm just saying that if shit went downhill and they went broke, she'd force Chris to get a job. And he'd absolutely maintain it, or else. Heh, Chris is way more scared of Barb than he would be scared of his employer.

I think if you asked Christian why he doesn't have a job he'd answer "But I do have a job, selling my art on eBay!". He just never got a real job, because his parents never made him and he got a . He's entirely apathetic to having a job, because of this. When his parents retired, so did he. I don't think he even pursued any jobs related to CADD, something he presumably had to have some interest in.

He'd hate that though, cuz he hates short bus people. I think they make him realize how not normal he is. He desperately wants people to look past his autism, and other mentally handicapped people show him how difficult that can be. In his mind he was mainstreamed so he be just like any other normal person. I heard rocky set him up with one of these tard jobs and he refused to go, no confirmation on that though.
