Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

The fact lifting the state of emergency and other measures makes Idaho ineligible for federal funds is a bit disturbing. It's why this is going to last for a long, long while because all the states don't want to give up milking the federal government for all it's worth. Same goes with the local governments and counties and their health department. There's too much money in this shit to just declare it over and tell people to stop panicking and move on with their lives.

Seems we all see the response to the WuFlu as the overhyped panic that it is. Earlier in this thread, views were more divided, with a number looking down on seeing coronapanic as an overreaction.

I guess 6 months of "social distancing" and masks will do that.
In fairness, the virus had an air of mystery about it and had basically wrecked China, so some of the early panic was justified since it seemed like the return of the bubonic plague. Of course in hindsight, China being a polluted hellhole and its people generally having poor hygiene can easily explain why the Kung-Flu devastated them, but the "experts" have yet to consider that.

Really doesn't help that they keep dragging the reopenings out and looking for any excuse to shut everything down again.

Ummm excuse me you're a racist nazi if you think China had a worse time with the virus because conditions in China are worse than America

I remember when the horrifying Corona news was how poorly healthcare systems in China and Italy were faring. Now the horrifying news is that governments won't let go of the money and power they gained.

Cuomo just pooped a little.

Good, that rat bastard has it coming after his incompetence caused too many unnecessary deaths.

Maybe this will affect Whitmer and DeWine too, I'm sure they pulled some of the same shit he did.

An Orlando man struck an Epcot security guard when he was reminded to follow the theme park’s mask rules, an Orange County sheriff’s report says, the first known crime report involving such a confrontation at Disney World.
Enrico Toro, 35, is accused of hitting the guard in the head and threatening to kill him, which led to Toro’s arrest Aug. 14, the arrest affidavit said.
He is charged with misdemeanor battery and doesn’t have an attorney listed, Orange Circuit Court records show.
“We expect guests to treat our cast members with courtesy and respect, and while the vast majority of guests have adapted to our new measures, this unfortunate case required law enforcement,” Disney spokeswoman Andrea Finger said in a statement.
Toro did not return a message seeking comment Wednesday but gave his version of events to authorities in the arrest report. He said the security guard swore at him and they got into an argument but denied anything else happened.
Three witnesses observed the altercation and said they saw Toro become “irate,” use profanity and hit the guard, the report noted.
Orange County spokeswoman Despina McLaughlin said officials weren’t aware of any other violent incidents stemming from people refusing to wear masks in the county. Orange Mayor Jerry Demings signed an executive order requiring all people to wear masks in public places.
At about 4:40 p.m. Aug. 14, Toro, his wife and three children arrived at Epcot security wearing “improper masks,” the 29-year-old security guard recounted to the sheriff’s office in the arrest affidavit.
The family returned to the car and came back to the front of Epcot a second time, but one child still wore a mask that didn’t fit Disney’s rules.
Toro “began cussing” and said, “Call the police. They will have to shoot me to leave,” the arrest report said.
The security guard reached for his phone to notify a security supervisor of the escalating situation when Toro struck the guard’s head with an “open hand,” the report said.
Toro’s wife intervened and pushed her husband away from the security guard.
“The male continued cussing at (the security guard) and began threatening that he knew where he lived and was going to kill him,” the arrest report said.
Toro’s wife finally convinced her husband to walk away and they left toward the parking lot.
The security guard, who wasn’t injured, contacted his supervisor and sheriff’s deputies on Disney property were called to the scene.
The security guard said he was willing to press charges, and Toro was arrested, the report said.
Disney World, Universal and SeaWorld reopened from the coronavirus pandemics with new rules in place, requiring visitors and employees to wear masks.
Before the well-publicized return of theme parks, many fans and industry followers had questions about whether visitors would follow the mask rules in the summer heat and how would the theme parks enforce the safety rules. And how will the public know if they didn’t?
Inspecting businesses to make sure social distancing is in place and people are wearing masks are the Orange County compliance teams.
“Every person working, living, visiting, or doing business in OC is required to wear a face-covering consistent with the current CDC guideline while in a place that is open to the public, whether indoors or outdoors,” according to the county executive order Demings signed June 24.
So far, the teams inspected smaller attractions, like Gatorland and WonderWorks, reporting back no issues, McLaughlin said.
At Fun Spot, a smaller amusement park on I-Drive, the county team flagged both Fun Spot employees and visitors were not wearing masks on a July 14 visit. In a follow-up Aug. 13 visit, employees wore masks but some patrons still did not, according to Orange County. Fun Spot did not return a message for comment Wednesday.
However, weeks into the theme parks’ reopening, the county’s team has not visited Disney, Universal and SeaWorld, which draw thousands of tourists into the community.
“Our strike teams are currently visiting and inspecting businesses and attractions that we have received complaints from. Although we may not have visited these particular attractions at this time, Orange County has not had many, if any, complaints on these larger attractions,” McLaughlin said.
McLaughlin said the visits are unannounced, but she expects the county to visit Disney, Universal and SeaWorld within a matter of weeks.
Theme park safety was front and center in Orlando on Wednesday as Disney, Universal and SeaWorld officials met with Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has been a vocal supporter of the parks’ safety measures.
“What’s been great is that we didn’t know exactly how the magic would play out when we were planning to open with all these new health and safety protocols,” said Jacqueline Swisher, vice president for Disney’s Hollywood Studios during the discussion. “What’s been great is, the magic is definitely back.”

Oh dear, here's another person going nuts over mask rules.

The real story here isn't some beaner smacking a security guard, but the OC compliance "strike teams" that are "flagging" businesses for "mask violations". Total bullshit and waste of taxpayer money, and I have a feeling that the actual enforcement/consequences are toothless like in certain other states - it's entirely fake and gay and they're attempting to bully you into compliance.

I'd also like to know more about what they mean by approved masks, I really thought you could wear anything from an adult diaper to a piece of window screen on your face as long as it was "covered". Certainly they don't require an actual NIOSH rated respirator, because that would be too effective. They're talking about CDC guidelines or some shit and I might look at that later if I'm bored. I'm curious what this guy and his family could have been trying to pass as masks for them to get turned away? I'd be pissed too if I bought overpriced disney tickets for my whole family and they told me that my kid's face rag wasn't raggy enough to get in.

EDIT: The only "guideline" the CDC has about "masks" is that they don't recommend wearing actual respirators with exhaust valves, because fuck you if you ACTUALLY don't want to catch china virus, you're only allowed to take actions to potentially decrease the chances of someone else catching it from you even though you're not sick and don't want to catch it yourself (or something).

Here's Disney's own multi paragraph guideline, which this guy ran afoul of (really his fault, I'd take one look at this nonsense and be like I guess we're not going to bisneyland this year):

All face coverings (whether disposable or reusable) must:

-Be made with at least 2 layers of breathable material
-Fully cover the nose and mouth and secure under the chin
-Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
-Be secured with ties or ear loops and allow the Guest to remain hands-free

At this time, based on guidance from health authorities, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings at Walt Disney World. Costume masks are also not considered appropriate and are prohibited from being worn, in alignment with existing rules.

I don't see how making idaho ineligible dor federal funds is gonna look good on the government in hindsight. Don't they realize people just wanna get back to their lifes and they should stop interfering?

Whitmer hopefully, but I don't think DeWine made any orders relating to nursing homes, he just didn't do anything at all. Still, 2/3s of Ohio's deaths were in nursing homes. I'd love to see the bug eyed manlet get slapped with something. Just because he can feel like a big man for the first time in his life shouldn't mean holding the state hostage.

It's the federal emergency funds they'd be ineligible for. Since you have to be in a state of emergency to qualify for them. It isn't a punishment, it's just the way that FEMA distributes the funds.

Yo listen up here is a story about a little guy that lives in a mask world and And all day and all night and everything he sees is just masks. Inside and outside. Mask in his houses with a mask little window and masked corvette and everything is mask for him and himself and everybody around cuz he got nobody to listen...!

Let me tell you all a story, a story based on true events (thats because it happened to me just a few days ago).

Imagine a world, where a man gets fucking fed up with wearing masks inside the grocery store and he dares to lower the mask under his chin to get some fresh air.

But enemies will stand in his way, like Karen "Im very unique" number 5234, approaching him and telling him how he lacks manners for not wearing a mask, despite they never having shared a word and much less a look. Watch him call her a "Karen" and that he doesnt even know her And her running off to pester a wage slave about how that man "lacked manners".

Alright, jokes aside, thats something that actually happened to me when I went grocery shopping (as if that wasnt a pain in the ass already) monday and dared to lower my mask after getting inside, seeing how long would it take until some Karen or Soyboy would try to defeat my "villainy". Didnt take long until some pale Karen approached me and began to rant how uneducated I am. I properly called her a Karen and told her that she didnt even know me, she never exchanged words, much less a look with me before. She actually had the guts to chase some poor worker and began to rant at HIM with how uneducated and unlawful I am. Thankfully I walked away and the worker didnt seem to give a shit. She was pale and her eyes were so wrinked, she didnt looked particularly old tho, so I can tell its one of those succubus type women where I pity the man that has married her (if he exists at all, she was on her own, maybe he wised up and left).

Another situation happened today, as a matter of fact, it was on another grocery store, a smaller one but it had an ATM close to the entrance. I intended to just get some cash for some business related stuff and then leave but of course it wasnt going to be so simple. There was a fucking karen at the door, lets call her Gandalf Karen, she told me that I cant enter without a mask...I told her it was just to get some money from that ATM right there, not shopping at all and she just kept repeating her programming increasingly angry. I sighed and got my mask, passed by G.K aaaand lowered it down right away as I went to the ATM to do my business. G.K kept staring at me at a distance while another taller thinner karen watched from the distance close to her (lets call her Slender Karen). I was finished and began walking to the exit when Slender Karen told me to put my mask back up, that I was breaking the -
law

I actually looked at Slender Karen right at the exit and said "Oh yeah? What you gonna do? Kick me out? Too late, I was leaving already." And just walked away removing my mask altogether.

Just little tales about our pathetic excuse of a society we are living now. For psychos by psychos.
