KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58 ) -- An officer-involved shooting investigation is underway in Kenosha on Sunday, Aug. 23.

The shooting happened near 28th Avenue and 40th Street around 5:11 p.m., after officers were called for a "domestic incident."

According to police, officers provided immediate aid to the person. They were transported via Flight for Life to Froedtert in Milwaukee for treatment. The person is in serious condition.

A large crowd gathered near the scene following the shooting.

Kenosha Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin State Patrol were requested immediately so that the scene could be turned over to an agency other than Kenosha police.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ), Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) will handle the investigation.

He's apparently been arrested and charged with (1) first degree intentional murder and (2) fleeing the state with the intent to avoid prosecution.

No indication as to which killing (car lot bandana guy or skateboard stomach shot guy) the murder charge relates to, but its probably the bandana guy.

He's also confirmed to be an Illinois resident and lives about 25 minutes from Kenosha in an Illinois border town, so he basically went home afterwards and that is why he's being charged with fleeing. Pretty fucking lol of a charge, especially given he called the cops after the first shooting and reported it.

An interesting question is whether he was actually detained by the cops after the shooting. I was under the impression they did briefly detain him before releasing him, which adds further absurdity to the fleeing charge if true. However, some media are claiming, without evidence, he was never detained.

I have to disagree. One of the people who attacked him shouted “Shoot me nigga!” before going after him and the shooter himself looks like he’s at least mixed with some ethnicity other than white. So from where I’m standing, it looks like he defended himself from a hate crime.
