DOOM

Which is impressive considering the base game is already pretty brutal. Can you give me a rundown of the trailer? I can’t do video on mobile. Have they said anything about new weapons or abilities, or if the Unmaker is going to get any buffs to make it not terrible?

It's a fairly brief trailer. New angelic enemies, some cool looking environments and some reskins of existing demonic enemies. No new weapons that I noticed.
 
That ghostly summoner tho. Music sounds a bit different as well, current speculation is either leftover Mick Gordon tracks or Hushult took over.
 
I really hate the Marauder. When did people enjoy stop dancing? I'll still probably get this though as Doom Eternal's combat system is really good.

Ghost summoners... I saw them shoot at it. I'm guessing this is a kill the enemy twice type of thing where killing the enemy spawns the Summoner and then you have to kill it so it doesn't resurrect what ever hosted it. Or some shit like that.

Can someone give me a breakdown of the Mick Gordon drama? And how much of the audio was actually by Mick? I found Eternal's BGM to be less than the previous game's and I opted to listen to podcasts while playing.
 
I couldn't understand what Samuel was saying because of the 15 filters on his voice. Anyone want to clue me in?

On the Two Marauders subject, for some reason I recall there being a part on the last level (right before Icon of Sin) where you actually did have to fight two of the bastards. It was in the big tan multi-level room that looked like an upscale bar. It's been several months since I've played (because screw battle mode lol) so I don't have a clear memory.

Probably doesn't help my usual strategy is to just keep running the fuck away from those bastards until the eye flash, Super Shotty to stun, and then switch to whatever heavy weapon I have ready to maximize the DPS window. Then rinse and repeat.

"We were [???? ????????] the only ones who could save this world!"

I think it's actually "We must revive the the only ones who can save this world".

On the Two Marauders subject, for some reason I recall there being a part on the last level (right before Icon of Sin) where you actually did have to fight two of the bastards. I just played that level on UV, and there is a Marauder there but there's only one. That said, I haven't played on Nightmare so maybe there's 2 there.
 
Its gonna be like the archvile in the classic games where in doom 2 they were pretty rare you only fought one at a time with the exception of one level near the end... The Plutonia Comes along and spams them to the point where theres one level where the only enemy is archviles

Ah, just my faulty memory then - though it is known that if you hit a super rare bug...the Archville spawn effect will continue indefinitely after the bastard is dead, and it has access to all tiers of enemies that are not level-specific bosses I.E. Gladiator.

Marauder is not a level specific boss.

No. You fight a Marauder along with some Pain Elementals and few other things, and an Archvile ports in when you kill him. You probably thought of the floor below it with the two Cyberdemons and a shitload of fodder.

Oh, fuck, you're right, it was those goddamn Tyrants/Cyberdemons.
 
I really wish they'd fix the blood punch bug. I could literally punch an enemy thrice and still not get a blood punch. I wish they had a separate bind for that, or at least the option for it. Targeting with the chainsaw is also shit. You can have an enemy right in front on you and not chainsaw a thing. WTF.

Marauder spawns when you kill the 2 Pain Elementals. But yeah, there's only one at a time.

I don't find that in character for the Doom Slayer. Demons simply are not allowed to exist whenever he's around.

So a bunch of new info got revealed and Doomworld is collecting it all.

Notably, Hulshult is working on the soundtrack.

I especially like the fact they're letting people get Ancient Gods Part 1 as standalone DLC.
 
The Two Marauder thing is probably gonna be an actual PITA only because you won't be able to get into a Rhythm since one will be spamming dogs at you.

More info and an interview. Really goes into the design process. Main point is that it seems like the difficulty is getting bumped and the SSG/Ballista combo won't just carry you through the game anymore. Then they of course talk about the Marauder... and going by his wording, it sounds like there may be more than one dual-Marauder fight.

I'm not into this nerf dominant strats just so the other weapons get some love kind of approach. Will that get tryhards to deviate from PB+anything? We'll see.
