In a way, these fandoms fill the same role as religions once did

Holy shit that's exactly how it is. I can't believe I'm not the only one who sees this going on with people in fandoms.

I remember coming across an article that made these comparisons once and the similarities between the two are uncanny to say the least. A good example of this is of course with the artwork often presented here. How many likes/retweets/other validation methods do these pieces often have? Putting my money on it now they've probably at least got 20. It's not usually because of talent, it's because they jump through the right hoops when it comes to what they say and how they depict the characters. It's like when the church had an iron grip over peoples' lives in a way. You did stuff that the church told you would please God, but actually you were just pleasing the church most of the time. The same can be said for modern fandoms.

A Filipino folklore based character line up. I get that it’s supposed to be heavily stylized but it gets to the point where the humans look more monstrous than the monsters.
It's actually pretty okay. But the dark spots on the faces look as if the lighting is on the bottom of something. Like putting a flashlight under the chin to tell scary stories.

I feel like that's what makes them look more "monstrous"?

For me it’s just the odd proportions on the humans (non existent hips, tiny shoulders, and weird jawlines present mostly on Maxine and Adrian) meanwhile the monsters look pretty normal in comparison because monsters aren’t necessarily meant to have normal proportions.

I thought that I was the only one who hates the cottagecore fad. It's mostly white city women pretending that they live in a cottage when they can't even afford a mortgage for a rural home. Just put some plants around your home, put on a dated dress and sip some fruity tea from an English teapot.

Keeping it on topic, here's a cottagecore picture, fresh from Etsy cuz cottagecore is totally about lesbianism too.

Went to respond about how the photo wasn't loading. Then it did-ew.

The concept of mushroom people based on the different species of shroom is interesting but... ew.

It looks weird for sure, but it has that unique charm to it. It feels very welcoming what we seen in this thread.
Try harder.

THIS FUCKIN DUDE

Nothing much else about I gotta say, not too many people make Koichi a tranny. Josuke is the usual victim. The way they draw him so anatomically correct tho...:suffering:

I've seen them pop up on my feed before and while their art isn't BAD per say it has some qualities (most in the coloring and anatomy areas) that repulse me and make me as dry as a desert.

I remember some time a go they had a porn pic of Josuke and pregnant Yukako and had a fucking paragraph of text under it explaining how this wasn't teen pregnancy and yadda yadda. Quite the sight.

Nothing much else about them is interesting. Their political shit is practically the paradigm of a lefty npc and may have started some drama? Not sure as they've deleted stuff surrounding it.

The cherry on top of this is that they're a Yukako stan lol.

Edit: here's the pic I mentioned earlier. They really are sensitive lol

First the lefties can't meme and now they can't porn.
Bleeeh, i’m late to this but, i don’t think the art is really that bad, the characters atleast do look like their canon counterpart, no unnecessary blackwashing, sure the koichi is trans stuff is weird, but atleast they didn’ draw him wearing a fucking binder with the trans flag on it and running around screaming “TRANS RIGHT!!!1!”

Maybe the artist is bad, but hey, i like the idea of yukako and josuke being in a relationship, without the koichi getting cucked, that is
And well that pregnant yukako and josuke drawing is way more sexier than the naked horrible tumblr monstrosities of characters in attempted porn i’ve seen here

Any sexiness in that drawing was mitigated and then thrown down the stairs when the author dumped a ton of text IN THE DRAWING defending their obvious cuck fetish.

I would still gladly take it any day over stuff like Charlie Foxtrot, yes that charlie, the obese black man that identifies as a lesbian girl in an onesie
Foxgirls don’t deserve that kind of punishment (:_(

CN wants to pretend like they support black people when they can't even fill one line with actual black characters and two of them are literally purple people which is something black nerds actively hate. If they really gave a shit they would be the change they want to see but they don't even give enough of a shit to make it look like Apple and Onion are walking or give Pearl hands.

This is peak performative wokeness.

Ruby is trash. Her creator is trash too.
You know you’re trash when the drama surrounding Ruby is more popular than Ruby herself.
what? explain.
I haven't seen or thought about Vocaloid since the leak spin or polka thing trended in like 2009.
So, Cartoon Network decided to post this to their Twitter page today.

The most ironic thing about this picture is the fact that some of these shows don't even have any black characters (let alone actual people).
The black characters at the front were all created by white people. Two white men created Craig of the Creek. Rebecca Sugar, a Jewish woman, created Garnet. Cyborg was created by a white man. The funniest thing here is that OK KO, the only black created show I know from Cartoon Network, is not represented here at all. In fact, OK KO was cancelled prematurely, so right now, all the channel has is shows created and ran by white people.
Really showing your dedication to black creators, CN. Great job.

To sum it up, when Ruby was first announced, concept art stated she was Latina and the character had tan skin. PowerFX later bought Ruby with the intention of redesigning and released their concept which was of a white woman. Everyone got mad at PowerFX and eventually they released Ruby with her original design. On another note, Ruby’s VP is trash because she’ll take any criticism about the vocaloid, translate it into racism and cry about it on twitter. Meanwhile she herself will have pretty hot takes on race but its okay because she’s a POC lmao

This entire picture screams: "Whiteys go in da back!"

So, basically buncha whites and a jew? How inclusive, CN!

Wait, black nerds hate purple people...? why?

Because they see purple-skinned characters that are "coded" as black as a cop-out so the showrunners don't have to deal with black characters (and all the associated stereotypes). For example, an angry black character is a no-no. An angry purple character is fine.

Ah well, no skin off my nose. As long as they don't fuck with Miku, Len, Rin, Kaito, the pink haired one, or any of the other original vocaloids from the late 2000s that I remember, they can do whatever the fuck they want with the new ones. Considering I haven't heard or seen anything about any Vocaloids besides the original ones either, so it seems like no one else really cares too.

Other colors used are green and less commonly, blue, like Panthro. Usually the character is also bald.
The trope is so prevalent that it made everybody assume Piccolo was supposed to be black...which to be completely honest is a good thing considering Toriyama's actual depictions of black people. Those kids don't need that.
