Only 6% of WuFlu deaths actually died from Covid. The rest had an average of 2+ co-morbidities or were of an advanced age.

They have a chart showing number of deaths above average. Made for some interesting reading.

How many of those red plus signs could be explained by drug overdoses and suicides by people who just lost their business?

I guess the argument is going to be that it's not fair because the Covid + Comorbidity still means Covid19 "caused" it, but...

No it means the real number of deaths is somewhere between 9,000 and 150,000 (180,000 I thought?).

That leaves 94% of cases where we can't assume COVID killed them but we can't assume the comorbities killed them either without examining the individual cases.

Went to get a haircut today, and from the street, the barbershop looked to be closed. On closer inspection I realized the windows have now been coated with one-way tint so you can't see inside.

The barber told me she had to pay to get them tinted because she had caught and chased off numerous people just hanging out in cars in the parking lot or around the front of the building trying to take pictures and video of people inside getting haircuts for the purpose of doxing/getting them ostracized/fired/whatever for not having masks.

I looked that up. It also says,

This information may be kept electronically. This information must be retained by businesses for not less than 30 days. Information in the visitor log will not be collected unless needed for contact tracing or enforcement of this order.

That's more horrifying than no dancing to me.

In the new orders there is also no standing and ordering, no sitting at a bar, tables 10ft apart (6ft is for pussies), definitions of what an outdoor tent must have to meet airflow requirements (2 sides open, 1 side half way up, etc...), and a litany of other bullshit that makes even less sense. Our weather is about to turn cold and rainy, most restaurants are near failing or have a'ready failed, and all the while our city council holds closed door meetings because... you guessed it the risk of covid won't allow for any public to be present.

Most people support this insanity. People grumble, but do nothing. I don't think we deserve as a people to make it through this. When the power of the elites in charge grows exponentially, I hope they exact a horrible revenge on us all.

If I sound mad, I'm not. I'm resigned to what is coming.

While it's entirely likely that a number of deaths have been incorrectly attributed to COVID (possibly even a large number), she's completely misrepresenting what the CDC actually said. It says that 6% of deaths had no other comorbidities. It doesn't say that the other 94% didn't die of COVID, just that they died of "COVID and _". Which might be true, might not be, but it's a far cry from her claim that they definitely didn't, and it definitely isn't the CDC saying they didn't.

This also isn't something they just suddenly sneaked onto their webpage. It's been on there for months, as you can see in this archive from June 1 (though the number moved from 7% to 6%). It isn't something they "quietly updated" this week.

I think people are starting to realise the massive disconnect between the hyperbolic news coverage and the reality of the matter, but at this point it's too late to do shit about it. Where I live it's a $50 fine each time you're caught without a stupid mask on, and let's be real most people aren't willing to spend the money on fines and deal with being hassled by the cops and/or members of local Facebook mom groups. This monster we created isn't going to be easily dismantled, I'm afraid, as there really isn't an endgame to it and politicians are intent on riding it as hard and long as it will go.

Why are Alaskans, of all people, just accepting levels of bullshit this fucking severe? This is in line with an Italian study I posed back in March at the height of the panic, at the time half of the dead were over 80 and 2/3 had at least three underlying conditions. They weren't reporting asymptomatic cases at the time either so the death rate was wildly inflated.

In short, the mayor of a town north of Rome is banning the wearing of masks everywhere except indoor assemblies, presumably because the latter is still against Italian law and he doesn't have a say in it. After noting that the law on the books prohibits concealing one's identity in public ("only thieves and terrorists wear masks"), he pointed out the lunacy of wearing masks everywhere, like when eating in public, essentially defeating the purpose of wearing a mask in the first place.

It's far from the entire charade being dropped, but I'll take any modicum of sanity possible these days. I'm sick to death of trying to convince virus doomers that this shit has been overblown so damn much. One of them in one of my friend groups online literally made the claim that kids are gonna look back on this in a few years and realize that their parents were sending them to their deaths. After I pointed out that the Wu Flu has a mortality rate of literally 0% in children, he pulled out the classic "buh buh we don't know all the long-term effects yet" card. A virus that's in the same family as a multitude of other well-studied viruses, with similar effects that have been confirmed through study, which doesn't even cause any symptoms in the majority of people who contract it, and these people act like it's Super AIDS Ebola.

It's all so tiresome.
