Firstly, the the Insurrection Act allows the use of non-National Guard forces. Eisenhower sent in the 101st Airborne to suppress the right of American citizens to good schools.

Secondly, the idea that American military forces, even the National Guard, are a representative sample of the population is absurd. I'm sure there would be some desertions, and to the extent that they were concentrated among minorities there might be a shortage of cooks, truck drivers, other logistics roles, which would be less than ideal, but it's not like combat arms would be directly affected.

Of interest, this is why Mubarek failed to put down a lot of the troubles in Egypt. This is why Tianamen Square protests went on as long as they did. In Egypt, the Army units in Cairo were made up of men from Cairo. These were their neighbors, in some cases, family members. The Army gets a lot of respect in Egypt because they stand with the people. In China, the first "police" units deployed to Tianamen square in Beijing were local units. Protesters being run over, shot, beaten to death and disappeared didn't start to happen until Deng woke up and realized (or more likely was told by his generals) that the local Army units were holding back - so he ordered them out, and brought in units from rural provinces who had no interest in being nice to what they viewed as a bunch of soft city counterrevolutionaries. The local NG units around here would face the same moral issue. Fortunately I live in a place where there's been zero rioting, but still...

If you saw Trump order in actual federal troops from across the country into say, California or Oregon...then you'd know the gloves were off. Because honestly, shooting/bayoneting/beating a bunch of antifa shitbags is definitely on some red-state dude's bucket list. (I know it's on mine but I'm not in the military...)

For awhile now most right wingers, like on /pol/ where you can get the purest distillation, had been urging each other to stay away from the riots and let the Libs burn down their own cities. Seeing less and less of that now, and more calls to engage them directly. The guy getting shot in Portland right on the heels of what went down in Kenosha may have tipped this train over the edge. The longer this shit goes on, the longer blacks are gonna think they have free reign to attack the white man w/o repercussion. What we need is a more organized resistance, backed with a solid lockdown of these riot cities.
