I don't think it's a matter of cheapness. There's probably a novelty element of "ReVoLuTiOn" to making your own shit out of commonly available things. Just a bunch of autistic LARP shit.

My best friend is a big ass Samoan (dude look almost exactly like the Rock) undefeated boxer. On the rare occasion I can drag him to a bar or something, he sits in the corner with his back to the wall to avoid exactly that. I helped him condition and train in highschool. That involved him hanging upside down while we pummel him with bats or fist to harden his core. His fist are like giant hammers. He regularly manhandles 500lb+ equipment solo at work. And hes extemely fast. He was a chinky kid who wanted to play sports, so he learned to be quick. He is a genuine bad motherfucker. Its both terrifying and wonderful to see it happen. And I've seen him one-punch on some sperg who thinks hes a badass 6 times. Some big dudes think being big alone is enough, and its not against someone who knows what they are doing, and has honed it into an art, so much so that they like going into long autist-level discussions about the physics of it.

Yeah, they had a clear defined target in the courthouse and the media sucking them off as heroic freedom fighters being disappeared by fascist stormtroopers. Then the moment they actually breached the fence local law enforcement was finally allowed to do something about them and they got scattered to the winds and have been lashing out ineffectually in impotent rage since. If it turns out last night was them walking up to and just blasting a Patriot Prayer guy without provocation it's probably the beginning of the end for them being out on the streets every night like they have.
