Hm, on one hand, there are some great ways to have space efficient interior design now, but on the other hand, those tiny houses are still designed to just spend as little time as possible inside. Would be interesting to try and use all the clever little tricks from the Tiny House movement and apply them in a space-efficient shelter underneath your house. Definitely need a bit more floor space than a Tiny House. They look cozy, but if you have to stay inside for longer periods of time I can't imagine that it's gonna be fun. Have provisions for some sort of physical activity at least.

This may sound weird but I actually love confined spaces. I like to be able to see any entrance and exit to any given room that I'm in.

That's definitely a plus. I'm not exactly claustrophobic, but I'm also not exactly a small dude and such cramped comditions would get on my nerves quickly
There are some pretty neat shelter designs out there that should be easily integrated into the normal basement construction of your house. I guess building the shelter underneat your normal basement level would increase the cost quite significantly, and would also be quite overkill?
But well, this isn't a prepper/bunker thread.
I really wished that once the Holocoof is over there'd be realistic and honest studies about it later on, but somehow I just don't see any government going ahead and stating even something as reasonable as "Ok, yeah, we kinda overreacted there, but back at that point in time it seemed absolutely necessary". Not after wrecking the economy hard.

Australia has completely lost the plot. Australians generally speaking are now the most risk adverse people on earth. Rules, structure, overreach is good for the majority of Australians. Australians fear “other people”, even fellow Australians more than anyone else, hence the ridiculous support for hard borders, even with other COVID free states. The overlords here also know there is going to be a hoard of younger people streaming out of the country at the first opportunity because of the inward looking basket case it has become, even before COVID. I’m thankful that I am not in the US at this time but equally we have gone way, way too far the other way. There is no way I am ever taking the freedom to live my own life for granted again and certainly I cannot trust the Australian government or the Australian people with this again

Unless the video also took audio recordings, highly unlikely to be illegal. The two-party consent rule is about recording conversations, not presence and appearance. There are "reasonable expectations of privacy" limitations, and obviously voyeurism is right out, but the blue checks seem to think that security cameras are automatically illegal.
