Maybe it's only tangential, but the University of Rochester is in session with in-person learning. Even though Rochester has a lot of demographic issues on its own, I'm willing to bet a lot of the energy and organization comes from the students in the area. The press stuff is very interesting, insomuch as who is press and what makes them press? I can't for the life of me figure out the answer to that. If someone is live streaming a protestor/riot, they are presenting breaking news. They literally help the police/feds who did what..

Legally, none, although historically members of the press were given a lot of leeway by police since they were there to do a job, and not partake in the unrest.

The local tv stations here are just an empty shell. No more big tv trucks or on the scene reporter and camera men in the shit doing real reporting.
The anchors show up to an empty studio and read a teleprompter programmed from out of state. The studio cameras, lights, and control board is all run by remote control. They just get content from national feeds or social media.

Damn even in my state when you go up past a certain point the TV market is the rest of the state (huge area) with maybe some local stations in the "populated areas" which are few and far. Even then they still have local news.

My buddy used to live in Rochester for a few years, before moving back before the Corona-Chan hit. From what I understand is that, it's infested with a lot of young millennial's, and joggers. I was actually considering to go visit there a couple of years back, but I didn't have the funds.
