Why does Tumblr have an obsession with vitiligo?

I kinda like some of the gender swap makeovers. To me the female characters costumes usually look absurd anyway but we're used to seeing women dress like that, so when a man does it the absurdity becomes more obvious. Or at least to me it does.
It feels more like the artist's intent than the overall subject matter.

I honestly can't tell what the intent is or what these people are trying to accomplish. Do they seriously think the gender swap designs will offend people? I thought they just enjoyed drawing dudes in skimpy clothes.

Another one of those makeover things:

Can anybody here read Swedish?
I love when people who don't know the fundamentals of designing a character try to do it to make things "better" and all they do is make absolutely flat and boring characters with no dynamic at all. Total failure at breaking up the figure to draw the eye.

Going back to the first set of designs (while using a translator from Swedish to English), it seemed that she blatantly disregards the fact that Felicia is very cat-like (with some of the mannerisms) and preferred to base her design off 70's disco dancers. Nor does she consider that Morrigan is a succubus.

Preferring to base a cat based character off a 70's disco dancer? Consider a succubus to not be a succubus? That is really just noy only going against canon but it is also just disregarding what the characters are.

I mentioned this once to our favorite Korean Black Rambo (who gets you alone to baster), but if you ever translate the artist's page, he openly says that (A) he knows nothing about them character-wise, (B) he doesn't like fighting games at all, and (C) they're offensive because they have large breasts. He absolutely fucking despises Guilty Gear, and says as much in the I-No entry.

So right out the gate, we're going in with someone who hates these characters yet knows nothing about them. Yet in the realm of the SJWs, where their own interpretation of a work supercedes all other interpretations, this is a common thread with them.

Basically a wannabe cultural hegemonic assbag with less self awareness than Brian Wu.

Considering how SJW art has made some focus on video game characters and western cartoon characters, one may as well see them redesign an anime character, and they would no doubt have an aneurysm with some animes if they tried to put their artistic touch on them. A former knight of Carim told me they wouldn't survive the likes of an anime such as Eiken (To sum it up, fan-service that crosses the line. The SJW's would no doubt sperg about how bad it is due to the women having large breast)

And I'm sure the non-British Europeans would be less likely to complain about designs since they're more used to nudity and sexuality that if these SJWs were to look at their stuff, it would offend them in a whole new way.

The artist is a lady.

BTW, there was a chick in one of my army courses that was basically a fighting game character: Bleached blonde ponytail, huge tits and ass, tattoed to the max and an expert kickboxer ass-kicker.

In addition to the obvious social justice agenda, I believe part of it is related to Hollywood's current fetish for reboots and re-imaginings. Redesigning established characters has become an artistic trend even outside SJ circles, so they figure they can hijack it to propagate their politics.

Of course, ideally one would invest more creative energy in creating one's own characters rather than simply tweaking established ones, but then they do say fan art is still popular nowadays.

I enjoy a good reboot/reimagining, but at least be a fan who cares about the series. There's some awesome re-imagings like the Thundercats remake which expanded on personalities, improved the designs and created an interesting world (and Snarf didn't talk). And then you got this.

Do these people just lose their minds when confronted by a woman with large breasts? It's pretty irritating listening to them prattling on about the importance of diversity while shaming others for their bodies. Kinda feels like a middle school mindset.

Lost the ability to care about the artist about 3 lines in.

Also that woman sounds awesome. I bet she has some fantastic stories to tell about her own life experiences.

Because it is a middle school mindset. Tumblr is essentially an opt-in middle school where the conventions are reversed.

I didn't want to discuss FemFreq in here any more than it has to, but the organization is pretty much front-and-center of everything wrong with this bullshit, so here we fucking are. Courage, Kiwis, at least I'll try and be concise.

Anyway.

Because these assholes feel that every single work featuring a woman by definition covers all women, everywhere, forever, they don't want anyone who doesn't fill out the proper forms in triplicate to be considered hero material. And if you look at the characters Team Anita keeps preaching as being positive and good examples, this comes to light in the span of ten fucking minutes. It's openly contradictory, and it is literally what every line SJW believes. Let's look at Anita, for example, claiming Jade (of Beyond Good and Evil) is a great example of a female protagonist (and she is, but bear with me here, I'm going somewhere with this line of discussion).

The very qualities Anita and friends chide in other works featuring female protagonists (the older versions of Lara Croft, Bayonetta, et al) are considered haram in Team Anita's eyes because of their bodies, and literally no other reason. It literally does not matter in their eyes that the character has any other qualities other than "female" and "large breasts."

At no point do Sarkeesian and friends ever discuss the characters' personality in any real detail, their roles in their stories, et al. They don't because they don't care about context. And then suddenly, Jade and New Lara show up and these very same fuckers are all up ons, claiming them to be an open defiance of the shit they just talked about when these two have the exact same fucking issues.

The "Fighting Fucktoy" label gets applied to these others, but curiously, not Jade, not New Lara, and not any other character with Team Anita's favor. Yet Jade, New Lara, etc are also attractive women who wear relatively little at times. Jade bares her midriff and has visible panties shown on her character model. New Lara wears skinny jeans and a tank top. Team Anita lists both characters as good and genre-defying, but they're fucking both in the same vein as everyone else. Jade beats the shit out of countless enemies in the game, but Sarkeesian holds her up as some kind of outlier. New Lara guns down the population of an entire island and despite cutscenes in which she's visibly horrified by her violent actions, she ultimately guns everyone down she has to, and there's little difference between her and every other female protagonist we've had for like 30 years. The difference? One batch of characters acknowledges their sexuality, and the other essentially pretends it's not there. That, apparently, is what really matters to these people.

I could point out other obvious problems here, like how I'm supposed to find New Lara strong and noble when she gets her ass kicked, but I'm supposed to find it hilarious when Nathan Drake gets his shit kicked in. I could point out the obvious bullshit of how Jade and New Lara get a pass, but actually well-characterized female characters, from Anya Stroud to Aya Brea. I could bring up that most of the professional oh-so-offended brigade is now synonymous with people who make Chris look fucking charismatic.

Instead, I will surmise with this: Team Anita and friends doing this shit is killing character diversity in games because nobody can make a character that doesn't match their bullet-point list. It no longer has anything to do with the actual content of the character itself, it's all about body shaming (the actual kind, not the bullshit Tumblr talks about) and whether or not the character in question was designed by individuals that Team Anita deems acceptable.

And fuck that.

Yeah, it always rubbed me the wrong way when Anita praised Faith from Mirror's Edge as a great female protag when she's an attractive woman who murders all sorts of people. There's never a reason given why she's a great character and, say, Bayonetta is a garbage character; we're just supposed to nod our simple heads and agree with what we're told.

The thing I observe about the SJWs' so-called "body diversity" activism is that it tends to fixate on overweight female figures---almost to the extent where "body positivity" is practically interchangeable with fat acceptance. It's like they're tailoring their agenda to the current obesity pandemic, because they think shaming men for preferring women with healthier physiques is easier than getting in shape themselves.

It's because unlike Mirror's edge, Bayonetta is a serious game that should be taken seriously by serious people like ourselves.
